The way you present yourself while you’re teaching is so intriguing to me and draws me in. I’ve been doing makeup for almost 2 decades and I’m still here listening as if I don’t know a thing. That’s artistry on your end 👏🏼👏🏼
I am a retired teacher, and you are a master at teaching! At 61 and a huge lover of makeup since age 16, I still learned new facts and techniques!! I also use two primers on different areas of my face, a pore filling one on my nose and chin, and a “sticky” one every where else. I think you should change your channel name to Professor Marlena!
I have switched to cream eye shadows in my older age. I have applied it immediately after my foundation. I appreciate learning to use a powder prior to the application. I usually follow with a light powder eye shadow to set. Thank you for this educational video, especially talking about issues for older women. 😊
I'm good at makeup, and I've been doing it for about as long as you. You and I are about the same age so a long of what you talk about is really relevant to me and I respect the way you communicate so I watch your episodes often. I clicked on it to rewatch some old tips as a kind of back to basics moment at the New Year. THIS IS A FANTASTIC! WELL PRESENTED! PRODUCT relevant tutorial that I will eat for a few days and then implement. Thank you. Great job!
As an actual teacher and science fan who doesn’t have the time to put into researching make up and the science behind tailoring it to myself… you are BY FAR the best tutor I’ve ever watched. And I’ve only watched 2 of your videos so far. Great explanations of everything! ❤ eyeshadow is probably the most daunting for me and you made it look sOoOo simple.
Finally, someone who addresses undertones! I’m cool toned and if any warmth touches my face I look ill. Marlena this video is sooooo good. Thank you so much. On a different note, I really miss your fragrance videos. Would you consider doing one? You’re so good at the descriptions for scent profiles. ❤
That Colour pop bay shade is gorgeous. I’d never look at that in the pan and think you’d get such a beautiful purple tone. Gorgeous and then that pop of Huda shadow topped it off beautifully.
Bravo ❤ This is Excatly what we need to learn about ! Such usefull information about undertones 👏 i really appriciate this and learned a lot ! A huge Thanks Marlena , you are a gift ❤❤❤
Marlena I can’t tell you how over the moon I am that you are back to doing makeup tuts and education!! I’ve been with you since you used to do videos in your bedroom with that black and white damask backdrop behind you 😂- I loved your MUG cosmetics line! I have almost every color single shadow you ever made! Now that that line closed I’m holding onto them because now they’re a collector’s item! 😂 I can’t wait to see what up and coming in 2024 from you! Whatever you do its always fantastic! Love you! ❤
I'd love you to do a video about older techniques, not often mentioned now, and your take on them. Using small triangular latex sponges or fingers for foundation. Bronzing all over face to look more tanned (early 2000s). Lip primers or foundation over lips before lipstick. Concealer under foundation. I'd also love to see a video on bulletproof makeup. What shadow application never creases, how to get lipstick to stay (powdering, layers?), keep foundation smooth on nose.
You are the makeup queen !!!👑 thankyou for allowing your natural beauty to shine through and down to earth advice that makes women feel comfortable in their own skin!! You actually teach us how to use the product which is super helpful! So grateful for your wisdom Marlena🙏💓
I’m about to turn 50 and aging finally started catching up with me these last couple of years. Especially as I’ve lost weight. I started going with the “less is more” approach, like you’ve shown us. I “bronze-tour” as well! 😂 Now I know what to call it! You’re beautiful and I love your techniques! I’ve been following you for many years! ❤
Lots of good tips in this one. Thanks for including undertone. So important. Probably could have used a little more info on concealer for the beginners. Keep up the awesome videos! ❤❤
Ahhh thank you for saying you don’t need concealer. I get a weird look from my young relatives when I say I don’t use it 😅 I don’t have dark circles and I don’t like adding more makeup if I don’t need it.
I watch a lot of makeup videos and I have a lot of girls that I enjoy watching. However, your videos are by far the best. So informative! So practical! You are good at what you do and also so darn pretty 😍😍
My Prada foundation and the eyeshadow quad in Poetry arrived this week. I am completely obsessed!! 🤩 I’ll definitely be purchasing more of the quads. 💜
Thank you for this video, Marlena! I love your personality! You convey your expertise and authority on the topic, if you will, yet with grace and kindness! I love watching you! ❤
Wow I'm almost 40 and I've been doing makeup for years like ever and been to cosmetology school, but, I learned a few lil tricks and ones that will work, I just have to say I absolutely love the eyeshadow trick paired with the top liner trick omg I'm definitely trying that today!!! Thank you Marlena!
I used a easy, inexpensive drugstore lash curler the other day, just to see, and it really does make a huge difference when you can take the extra 2 minutes. I have pretty nice lashes naturally but dang it really does make a huge difference to wear the lashes can be seen standing up!
New subbie and i thought i knew a thing or two, and i realize thats ALL i knew! Binge watching your shows, made my learning curve punch a hole in the roof!!! WOWIE!!! This is perfect!❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
L❤VE your vibe, your brilliant teaching & sharing your expertise! I'm going to look through your videos on best skin prep for over 40, roseascia dry to normal skin. Is sunscreen, then moisturizer then a primer? That sounds like a lot. AND I need a holy grail product to fill deeeeeeep smile lines. Or an application technique that won't accentuate them. So grateful for your content & spunk.
Stunning!! Thank you for these tips!! I agree about the lash curler- is there a difference in an eyelash curler? I saw Kevin Aucoin was an award winner and was curious about your thoughts.
Another smash hit. I'm looking forward to starting a make brand. I would love your mentoring and professional advice. Would be glad if I could get a more private forum to discuss with you. Many thanks. You are an inspiration!
I used an eyelash curler every day until that one fateful day when my hand slipped. It ripped off a little more than half and I was in frigging high school 😭 It was brutal! I haven't done it now in 40 years.
I really appreciate your teaching techinque, what i don't understand in this video is the ad content that comes up without any connection to the content. I am not against the ad, which is mentioned, but to be put more carfeully and with sense in the video 😊
Oil is NOT hydrating! It locks in moisture and hydration, but it in itself is not moisturizing. Also, oil will break down your makeup, which is why we see oil based makeup removers. DO NOT apply oil to your face before makeu. It’s just a mess waiting to happen.
You are an amazing MUA. I have learned a lot from you. I wish I could find a liquid foundation that works for me. I have tried so many and they all look horrible. I hate the feeling of it on my skin and it never looks like skin no matter what they say.
I always love your tutorials! You mentioned blush on round faces and more structured/chiseled faces; what if your face is just more oval without the cheek bone definition? Could you please mention where the best placement for bronzing and blush would be then? Thank you!! ❤
Your videos are so educational when it comes to understanding products and makeup techniques. I do wish you had listed the brands/names of the products you applied in this video. I am interested in knowing about the crème eyeshadow. Most cremes or sticks that I’ve looked at are too glittery for my old lids.
Marlena, I love all of your videos so much. I am having a problem with glitter!!! I used the glitter glue but still ends up on my face! What am I doing wrong???? I love the look of glitter and I have so many. But this is getting on my last nerve cuz of it getting on my face. I put a napkin under my eye or other tools. And it still gets on my face! What could I be doing wrong??? I loved the comment about using correct tool with foundation. That made perfect sense. Great video!!!!! I always learn something from you. I am a long-time subscriber for sure.
Hi Marlena, This is an eyelid prep question: Do you use foundation or concealer on your lid before the powder for eyeshadow application? I have watched a few of your videos and can’t seem to find what product you recommend prior to the powder and eye shadow.
I love your technique videos! I learn so much! I'm wondering if you could try something for me: before using my setting spray, I spray a moisturizing face spray, dry that, and then spray the setting spray. I swear it makes my makeup last longer than with just setting spray. But I'm wondering if I'm just thinking that LOL! I figured it's like using ice water to set the make up - then sealing it with setting spray. Can you see if that works for you too? If so, then it may be a good tip for others as well.
I am d3finitely not new to makeup but as I have gotten older my skin has changed along with face radiation. I have purchased many high end foundations, primers, skincare products and my makeup looks horrid within a few hours! I hope to learn a lot
Love your videos because you have dry skin like me. Can you do a video about eczema prone skin? Almost Every foundation ends up flakey and textured no matter how much oil etc I use to prep 😢
Hello there! Love your videos. I wanted to see if u have videos or could make one on how to cover melasma dark large spots on my cheeks and on top of lip??
The way you present yourself while you’re teaching is so intriguing to me and draws me in. I’ve been doing makeup for almost 2 decades and I’m still here listening as if I don’t know a thing. That’s artistry on your end 👏🏼👏🏼
Same here! I'm like well I'm no beginner, but no pro either. 😂
I need all the help I can get when it comes to skincare and makeup! Marlena is my girl!!!😊
She is the best
I am glad I am not the only one. LOL I love to hear what she has to say. I always learn something. She is an awesome teacher as well

Really enjoyed this. Never heard the tip about matching the viscosity of the foundation to the appropriate tool. Thank you.
It did make perfect sense. I have felt my sponge was soaking up my foundation. So, I probably was using wrong one on those days.
This is the ONLY makeup video you need, seriously. And I appreciate Marlena’s candor and charm.

Hi! Can I ask what bronzers work for your skin tone?
That Colour pop bay shade is gorgeous. I’d never look at that in the pan and think you’d get such a beautiful purple tone. Gorgeous and then that pop of Huda shadow topped it off beautifully.
I wish I could give you a great big hug Marlena!!
The tips will be so useful and I will feel more confident knowing the advice came from you. ❤
I am going to start saying contour the same way as you. You make it sound classy and well, I’d also like to sound classy.
LOVE this 😂🙌🏼♥️♥️♥️♥️

Hi Marlena, thank you SO much for this video 💗 I especially loved the mascara tip..I too still use the Dior Show mascara - an oldie but a goodie! 😊
It’s my fave!
Learned a lot! Appreciate you!
Can you do a video how to exfoliate as I have dry skin and may come through foundation
I use AHA/BHA/PHA to exfoliate. When I was younger, I used different scrubs but they damaged my skin so I avoid them now.
Stunning 🤩
Such a helpful video!! Thank you!!! What did you use for a neutral bronzer? They are so hard to find!!! ❤
I LOVE the Bobbi Brown ones and also the Makeup by Mario :)
OMGeeeeeee…….!!!!!! Totally Agree! I am with you chica. I DISLIKED that baking phase 🙄

Thank you Marlena please link the products you use or give us the full name for each one. Love your videos
