I took a minute to look back at the park entrance and cried a little, my family doesn't always have the money to go so I wanted to cherish it. (In the Glenn Miller original, it's his signature saxophone/clarinet harmony instead). The bridge is played by a sax here. Then when the strings kick in, the trumpets take over the melody, and the first trumpet does a lovely vibrato. Then, just before the end, we hear two measures of the classic clarinet/saxophone harmony in homage to the original. Just very well done. (I'm a trombonist, so this arrangement always excites me).

Much as I love Glenn Miller's premiere arrangement of Moonlight Serenade, this presentation brings something a touch different, honoring the original while having its own identity and being very beautiful all by itself. Should I also mention that when the strings cut in at 2:00 ... man, just fu'get about it! EXCELLENT!

He & Elizabeth Perkins were wonderful, love the chemistry & the spark in their 👀, moonlight serenade is perfect choice to dance on so classic👌& romantic. I was introduced to this kind of music by my grandfather when I was twelve years old back in 1980. For a very long time, I listened to it whenever I repaired an old typewriter. I still do from time to time. Some junior high memories never fade away.
A remake of “The Glenn Miller Story. Had it been done in 1984, it would have been on the thirtieth anniversary of the first one. It would have been sweet. James Stewart AND Glenn Miller would have both been proud.

It´s the part at 1:57 what makes it so emotional, when they´re kissing.
I also harken back to the 1954 version with James Stewart-it was at that moment that everybody clapped at hearing his New Sound.
I also think they should have played this when Tom Hanks walked so triumphantly to his office the morning after his “conquest.”
