      Yes, please! The new rules have made this type of Kumite less effective in real life. The two handed throws and hip throws were very effective and realistic. Now it’s a bit neutered.

      Just make this martial art the way it was supposed to be, put them in ring and allow full contact with knees and elbows, also takedowns, throws, grappling, locks, groundfighting because karate is a mix of striking and wrestling, and nobody will bitch about it anymore

    If Traditional Karatekas like me put actual power in our strikes, it's like a sniper, fast, hard hitting, accurate shots like damn this rules make us look weak but if trained in actual Karate rather than sport Karate, no one would underestimate Traditional Karatekas that's why I want to thank Karate Combat for making full contact Karate.

    • @johncena12366
      @johncena12366 Год назад +6

      No one trains for just sport karate though. All these WKF athletes are black belts in traditional styles, they just choose to compete in semi-contact rules. In a real fight I would bet on the sports karate guy over a traditional one who doesn't compete.

    Firstly, the video is well made, its content is communicated clear. Good job on that.
    Secondly though, in my opinion as a Shotokan Karate practitioner/karateka this looks very unappealing as a form of combat competition. It looks so far removed from the source of Karate. Is this really how we want to represent our martial art, it makes karate look so weak, and it may even be producing weak Karateka. Its disappointing to see the martial art that I love so watered down looking. I really hope this changes in the near future.

      I Saw other video. They train combo strike with punch and Kick. Unfotunately that won't happen because after one hit punch, the referee Will stop and give point. Rule in TKD match is better. Rule in karate kumite is a joke

    • @orlonarsino6729
      @orlonarsino6729 5 лет назад +8

      Kyokoshin Karate culture is the closest I have seen karate come to MMA/full contact.
      TKD and Karate point sparring is the alternative choice for low contact whilst keeping a competitive edge.
      Ultimately if you are looking for something that is most effective in fighting prowess... Then you sould sign up at your local MMA gym.
      I still think there are benefits to point sparring culture, like fitness, coordination, athleticism and occupying the competitive psych...

      @@orlonarsino6729 Orlon, I have experience in many forms of martial arts, and I also have experience in MMA, but the one that I love is Karate. • @Karakta
      @Karakta 3 года назад +11

      With those rules, speed is more important than power. Bouncing allows you to literally jump at the right moment towards your opponent. You can't do that with a rooted stance. However, you should not bounce like they do on the video : you have to bounce "one foot at a time" (hard to describe in a you tube comment but basically, what I mean is that you must always have at least one foot on the ground). If you bounce with both your feet, then there is a moment when you no longer touch the ground. If the opponent sees that and sweeps you, that's game over.

    Why is a punch to the head only one point like a punch to the body, if a kick to the head is worth more than a kick to the body.
    In a real situation a fight is more likely to be won by a blow to the head than the body. Isn't the point system based on real fight effectiveness? I guess not.

      I might be late, You're new to kyokushin. I don't know if you know this but a kick to the thight would stun your opponent. Don't punch the head with your hands just remember that. Kicking the head is allowed. I know it's a weird rule. Anything else, I think maybe a front or blackflip kick (search it up, It's not the front flip or backflip like you're imagining right now) Basically front and backflip kicks are like keeping the leg extended and a kick to the head once again search it up. I don't do kyokushin but as a shotokan karate guy that's all i know about the martial art you're doing.

      Kyoukushin is way better in any way than this... abomination. True that kyokushin does not allow punches to the face, but that should only worry you if you are going against a real striker like a boxer, this olympic "karatekas" lack power, it is not that they are holding back themselves, it is that they dont put power behind the punch at anytime, just speed, light touch, score. (and avoid fouls for "hiting too hard"). As a Kyoukushin fighter you could just let them hit you in the face, you wouldnt even feel it. They cant generate power because they dont train for that, they dont know how to.

    Interesting video, but having watched the 2023 Dublin championship the scoring system and how the points are awarded in practice is a total mystery to me. I don’t find this Kumite appealing watch and wouldn’t be interested in taking part.

    you cant have a martial art and not allow a Real punch.This way its all up to the judges.Noone in the audience can figure out which punch landed and which didnt.This will not catch on.If they want to make this sport popular a hit has to be obvious and make some damage to the fighter.
