Agreed definitely about access. I like property on water bodies and will go through extreme lengths with waders or boats to get in a different way. Another idea is going up and over hills, or even over 2 hills, to access a spot with a road right at the bottom. Nobody does that so you definitely come in with the element of surprise in your favor!

That's another great tip for getting private permissions on farms: I ask neighbours not for hunting permissions, but rather for permission to access my stands on adjacent parcels through their land. Explain the wind and access to them. Once they see me treat their property with respect a few times; I park where they want me to, I don't litter, I stop and chat with them and treat them politely. After a season building that relationship, they're much more amenable to giving me permission to hunt their property.

I killed a pretty solid buck because I noticed if I parked at the entrance he knew it was a hunter. But if I drove down all the way to the barn he thought I was the farmer. Changing how you access on the same side matters

I hunt a property that only has one access while crops are up, it's a real problem but I don't own it so can't do much. I've tried walking down the rows of corn but it makes way to much noise.

Maybe really try to plan out those days with wind or rain to hide your approach? Might be able to kill one in the corn that way also… good luck this season, but will it be soybeans this year?

@mike FromOH They plant soybeans about once every 5 years, that's always a good year.
I only hunt there on a north or west wind. There is a waterway in the corn, ive hunted the edge of it, maybe this year I'll go deeper in.
