Thanks, but where is the Off Road part?
Update: driven one for few days now. Nothing is off road worthy about it. I hit the ground on a simple back road in offroad Modus.
Yes i can see ,it is a highway.
I can do that "off road" track with a vw beetle

Good, enlightening review of the "plush" off-roader (?). Even though the car wasn't put through any real tough exercises it did satisfy my curiosity about its abilities. Great for soccer moms every where!

For the record...the camera system has a view of the hill you can't see. You can thank Land Rover for that. Lots of adventure with very little fuss. Now isn't that all anybody really needs.

That didn't really look much like an off-road course to me. Much of what was shown on camera looks as if it could be done in most 2WD.
Okay before everyone starts crying, well I see you have. This isn’t very off road, a FWD or RWD car couldn’t do it but this car it seriously capable for its class
4wd some I’d say any car/truck with ground clearance could do this, even without 4wd!

Any SUV/crossover/truck with 2wd ad the ground clearance could have done this ‘course’. My 2006 Tundra 4wd would absolutely destroy this on actual trails...

My grandma can do this "off-road" track on a segway backwards whilst doing a handstand and knitting me a pullover. It really is the greatest generation, but still, this track is a complete and utter joke.
So where is the off-road part of that „review”??
This was a paid sales promo not a review. What he drove on any stock passenger front wheel drove could handle
If you’re interested in the backstory: we had a crew out to film a Land Rover that failed before it even took the real off-road course (blew a knuckle). We also happen to have the Volvo, but it wasn’t approved for off-road use. For insurance purposes we have to get approval from the manufacture. So we did this as a way to show features, without actually risking the vehicle. You may not of liked it. But some people did. Fact is this video is pretty old and we probably wouldn’t do the same thing today.
Just pulled one out of a snowy ditch this morning with my Ram 2500, I couldn't understand why the back tires on the Volvo wouldn't spin or receive any power at all
My 2WD 2017 Ford Escape titanium could do the same track.

my honda civic coupe could drive on flat grass and compacted dirt roads too! And it was only 25,000 for the top model.

Katy, I'm one of those lesbians that drives a Volvo S.U.V. I was a soccer mom. All I can tell you is the world is messed up right now. Don't think current volatile trends will change any time soon.

It's all about Comfort did you hear him speaking of how comfortable it was and automatic features who wants to be bouncing around up and down in a jeep

I have a Prius and a modified 4Runner. I’d be perfectly comfortable driving that course in the Prius. I’m sure the XC90 is capable, not a 4Runner or Range Rover or anything like that but great for what it is, but this sure didn’t show it.

This video does more harm than good to the brand. This is just driving over a dry flat field? These vehicles are more capable than that. Way too worried about playing it safe. The Russians and scandanavians show you how it's done.

Yeah this is just a really expensive dirt path.. I wouldn't qualify this as off road at all... No rocks... No weird angles.. try a diagonal test on a hill

Misleading review. Take it down! A Mitsubishi ASX can tackle this lightly. Even a Volkswagen Bettle.
Tesla Model X is better! Selfdriving and is the safest Suv in the world.
Closely followed by this XC90. Only thing why the ModelX is more safe is that the weight is more at the bottom. It needs so much force to tip over, which the XC90 can do. Volvo is pretty safe, always top of it's class. And a bit more "high end" then Tesla on this moment in build quality. But Tesla is great as well! Drove a ModelS a few weeks ago and it was awesome. But for the money i'd buy an XC90 over the modelX.

At best, the XC90 would be good for mid-level off-roading. But let's face the facts here. The majority of people that will buy this won't be spending any time driving through any trails. They're all going to be pavement prowlers carrying out the same tasks you mentioned in the beginning of this video.
The back-story on this episode is that we had planned to do a harder course with a Range Rover, but it blew a knuckle before we even started (literally as we approached the entrance to the course.) we had the Volvo with us as well so changed it up to use that instead.
