The BEST Way to Paint Motorcycle Wheels | Honda CB500 Café Racer Build #4

- This is the best possible way to paint motorcycle wheels with rattle cans.
After all the prep work is done (the most important part) I use self etching primer on the wheels. You gotta use this primer: amzn.to/3TMxmmo
Then I painted them with VHT Engine Enamel: amzn.to/3TQcx9L
Finally, I clearcoated the wheels with: amzn.to/3nrP7LR
The great thing about this engine enamel paint is that you can cure it to make the paint way more durable, and then as a bonus I show you how to make an oven for baking the painted parts! Comment with any questions!

The woman has spoken. Man go build fire. Fire good.
Seriously, that is a cool idea for a curing oven. I may have to steal that idea from you.
Dude it’s his bike…it’s going to look amazing
Hearing the missus was hilarious, great DIY fix for the oven. Soapy water works wonders for tire install and removal.
This is how I was brought up in NZ.
Being so far away from most other countries, other than Australia. If could couldn't afford to buy it, then you made it.. this often meant that you improvised to a degree of absolute brilliance, lol. Oh, and probably poisoned yourself in the process , but hey you only live once !
You did a really good job there, they look amazing. Well done. :)
Confession.. I remember saying not to chop up a classic. ONLY I think I'm going to chop my 1985 K100rs BMW into a scrambler. I want a scrambler soooo bad!
So, any cafe projects you attempt on classics , let's go. Lol, I need schooling from someone like you.
Great video! This is one awesome series!
Love the home made oven, and the dance moves, man with those dance move you where almost as good as Puddin in Puddin's Fab Shop
Oh yeah, thou shall not place car, motorcycle, and gun parts into the oven inside the house. That should be the 11th commandment lol...
The homemade oven is something I probably make in the future lol.
If a tire is super hard I prefer to use a sawzall (reciprocating saw for non Americans) with a coarse blade to cut the carcass, then use a metal cutting blade to go through the bead. Bend a big fender washer into a right angle and use it under the bead so you don't saw into the rim. It is about 1/4 the work and no risk of bending the rim. I use VHT brake caliper paint, as I find it to be a bit tougher. I have no idea what the difference is, but I like the semi-gloss black of the caliper paint the best. It also needs to be cured. BBQ works for smaller parts.
Nice idea with the homemade paint drying oven
Hi gold guy. From the UK. I break the bead on tyres by laying the wheel flat and putting a garden space on the edge between the tyre and rim , then jump on it. Works great. Just work your way round. Great chanel
Harbor freight has a decent cheap powder coating gun which you can use then be like me and use a cheap toaster over for small items and an outdoor grill for bigger items
bikers all over the world are same u just want to get that job done, we dont care if that oven is for baking food or wheels.
love from Pakistan
SICK oven !!! thumbs up bruh
Had to see how this turned out. xD Nicely done dude! I'll have to try this for sure
Maybe look out for a cheap or free oven for your garage? Good workaround though 👍
Greetings,
Love the channel!!!!!!
Question-
Did you ever think about getting a lift?
I noticed the guy on Brick House Builds has one.
Seems like it could makes things a little easier.
Just curious.
Again, love the channel.
Thanks
Never seen anything like it 😂😂
Hey, can't wait to see what's next! Thanks for the videos. Why not moving on to powdercoating? It's not that hard to do and except the powder gun, I'm pretty sure the powder is less expensive than can paint. And you already have the oven ^^ :)
The next build you do should be a scrambler 🙂
Two comments: first, please look up good painting technique, you might be surprised at the improvement in overall quality (ask me how I know), and second.....you need a new wife, those wheels fit so perfectly there's no way I would've taken them back out 😂
Man your heavy handed with the first primer coat, should just be dusted on for best adhesion. …. Haha your girl shut you down pretty quick !! No wonder, I would have been killed
I wasn't able to make out what type of acid you were using? Great videos by the way and keep them coming.
Muriatic acid. Thanks!!
@@GoldGuyRides New subscriber and keep the video's coming.
Good job. But remember that heat rises for the heat source should have been near the bottom with a small vent hole near the top for the air you are pumping in to escape. not saying you did it wrong but I would have done it the other way. Like I said great job.
Oh no two things we can not do. One is cook paint in the 9ven and the other is rocket heat the house. Both can and do make our homes poisonous habitats.
Cover the other bikes in the garage when you paint. I am cringing.
You're losing money! Restore to factory. Sells for twice the price of some kid building a "cafe racer" in his basement. Check around, original is where it's at. Money wise
Bike was very not original to begin with. It would cost more money to source original parts and such. This kind of bike is the perfect one to customize
@@mechatomato3988 Yes butt, I saw one in the bank parking lot recently. A 50 year old bike looking like new. It immediately gathered a crowd, with people yelling obscene figures to the owner , in the tens of thousands. Yeah, he had a few bucks in it, but nothing like the offers. And he just smiled and said " it's not for sale"
@@kennypool must have been a cb750 or kawasaki, the cb550s dont go for that much restored
@@mechatomato3988 All those cb/4 bikes will be going for 100k before you know it. Let me give you an example. A1963 VW bus sold for 100k at Barrett Jackson last year. I watch bike prices everyday, those cb/4 have tripped in price in the past 3 years. Maybe not in butt hole Penn.
pop that bead and cut it with a grinder way less work cut it up in 4s and toss it
