  • On my recent walk along the Cloud Trail (Ashby-Derby line) i was lucky enough to look around the old engine shed near Chellaston.
By popular demand I have given it its own video which gave me the chance to show all my photos and footage from the day.
Enjoy this piece of railway history that is slowly being eaten by nature.

Shows how well built buildings were made back then to be standing the test of time and still be with us partly now what an incredible find! 👏😄🎉

Thank you and thanks for your support. There's not many places I have put two films out for! Incredibly well built and a real shame that it's slowly slipping away.

That's quite a find! It's done extremely well to still be standing some 35 years after it was deserted. Steel framed buildings with corrugated cladding don't do well when they're just left to nature. It's hard enough keeping them in good order when they're in use as steam locos with coal fires give off acidic fumes that rapidly attack the steelwork. Several heritage lines can bear witness to that problem as cheaply built storage for steam locos they don't last long before requiring major repairs.
Well done for finding it and making a pictorial document of its latter day history. I'm sure very few people realised it was still there.

It is certainly not in great shape and tbh I am not sure it will stand for much longer!. Thanks for watching 👍
