The police chief at that time, Pete Arredondo, was fired in August of that year. They wouldn't arrest the chief over this. That's why people sue so they get some retribution.

People tried to send the security guard at Parkland to prison for inaction the day of that shooting. He was a security guard. He wasnt trained for, or suitably armed, to engage in combat with somebody with that kind of weaponry, and he was the only one. These assholes had hundreds of officers from different agencies, and not one of them did a damn thing! Not one. As a mom and a teacher this enrages me. I would 100% put myself in front of my students and do whatever I could to keep them safe. I couldn't live with myself otherwise. The fact that those cowards didn't do a damn thing still astounds me. How is even possible that none of them broke rank and went in to save those babies?! WTF?!?!

Please don't forget Joe Garcia, the 48 year old husband of one of those teachers. Two days after the shooting he brought flowers to the memorial site people were stopping at and had a massive heart attack and died as well. They had four children; one in their twenties and three in their teens- the youngest had just finished 7th grade.
I just can't imagine what those cops thought was going on in that classroom while they crouched down hiding behind those walls scared of one guy with a gun. I'll tell you what they really cared about was keeping their jobs & their pensions.

The officers that day were a bunch cowards. The governor did not nothing, but give a speech of condolences and no action taken.
He didn't just give condolences, he's essentially said multiple times that they were all heroes that did everything they could. He would never, never, never criticize the actions of cops, no matter how egregious, unless he thought he could score political points by calling something they did woke or talk about how they don't get enough money. He is totally complicit.

That councilman had his foot on the other elected members neck. I loved how he kept going back to them being elected by the people and needing to speak up. Now that is by the people, for the people!
They paid an independent investigator $100K for a BS report and disrespect the community and be part of the cover up. They should request a reimbursement from this guy that even indoor wearing a cowboy hat.

77 Minutes. Watch the PBS Special about what happened, from the very beginning Chief Arredondo knew there were children in the class room. They repeated over and over that they secured the building before even checking one single classroom. The officers themselves said they were scared and if they would have gone to our through that door they would have been killed. NOT A SINGLE person was in charge, they HEARD those guns shot, multiple times they heard them! Even an officers wife was shot and he tried to go to her but they told him NOT to. We teach out children accountability, but these adults who took an oath do not have to be held accountable for their actions or lack there of?
