Glad to see that they have become successful. Rob Takac is a great guy too as is his whole family. Graduated 2 years behind him at West Seneca East HS.

listening to their newer material, namely because it is so raw and honest and by hearing that in the music you can easily tell that they are writing and performing from their hearts, and by doing that you cant say that they have sold out, or that they've only done "what needed to be done in order to remain united as a band" or that they just became successful because "they chose to give the masses that they wanted to hear". obviously if they didn't mean what they were writing, than not as

All of us either grow up, grow stagnant -or die. There are some bands that have made hits while they've grown stagnant but I think very few bands made bad music while they've grown up. The fans of the youthful incarnation may have grown stagnant. And that is a real shame.

  • @ItsSomeDeadGuy

People are really saying that they sold out with 'Name' or 'Iris'?
Fuck's sake, guys. That's like saying that Guns N' Roses sold out with Sweet Child 'o Mine just because it was a hit.
A sellout was the Offspring's 'Pretty Fly for a White Guy' because it basically pissed on everything that made The Offspring a great band.

I don't understand the hate. They used to be young and crazy, and made fun music. But as they got older they wanted to sing about real things, and a lot of that came from life experience. Their new album (SFTROU) discussed some harsh topics and they wanted their message heard. In the words of Johnny that album was "commercial suicide". So no way in hell are the Goo's "sell-outs". THEY'RE STILL FUCKING AWESOME.

Very well put. It is rare to see someone as yourself posting as you have, especially when 99.9 % of the people are never going to put their pride aside, and see things for what they are from a bird's eye, not just front row. I'd always envisioned the last concert they do, going through all the albums and putting on the show of their lives. And I'd hope to be there to see it as well.
