Ivanova: Doesn't matter. If we lived 200 years we'd still be human, we'd still make the same mistakes.
Franklin: You're a pessimist.
Ivanova: I'm Russian, doctor. We understand these things.
Russians "understand" that saying that we're merely human is an excuse? Sounds to me like she understands how fallible humans are, not that she's pessimistic.
Her pessimism is that we don't change wich fits one of the underlying theme of the show. In 500 or 1,000 ears humanity doesn't change much. but in a million or a billion years? There we have potential. If our species lives that long.
@@grayscribe1342 Well yeah, but the whole point of Babylon 5 is that she was the catalyst for the very change that she "understood" was impossible.
@@grayscribe1342 If.
And now?
Babylon 5 deserve a BLU-RAY COLLECTION.
Like if you agree
well i own the DVD pack, soo i dont really need a bluray version tbh!
@@mho... Amazon ^^ I own everything there - and it is still better the 90% of the new stuff
People be like: Wuts Babbleon5? And I would say: It's where great TV started. Then, they walk away.
I read an article quoting JMS that a remake, remaster, or even Blu-ray will never happen because Warner won't risk spending any money on it but it also won't sell the TV rights to anyone in case it ends up being profitable for the other guy which would make them look stupid. As Londo would say: "arrogance and stupidity, all in one package. How efficient of them!"
@@alfredoprime5495 EAN 5051892231879 is a bluray release, coming later this year or next year. Same as what's on HBO Max I believe.
*I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God. And if this ever happens again, Ivonova will personally rip out your lungs!*
No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There’s always a boom tomorrow.
*sighs and walks away*
*BOOM*
...What, look, _someone's_ gotta have some _damn_ perspective around here. Boom, sooner or later... BOOM!
Babylon 5; so well written, so under appreciated.
it IS more then appreciated by those who understand it!
Susan Ivanova. Commander. Daughter of Andrei and Sophie Ivanov. She was the right hand of vengeance, and the boot that kicked the sorry asses of President Clark's abettors all the way back to Earth! She was Death Incarnate, and the last living thing that her foes ever saw.
God sent her.
Best line on a tv show. And his partner in crime that was heartbreaking
Ivanova: I hate waking up in the dark.
Sinclair: But it's always dark in space.
Ivanova: I know...
This was a beautifully written testament to Babylon 5 and Susan Ivanova; I have loved this show for most of life and Susan has been a stalwart example for me to follow as well. She has had an equal influence on my character as Star Trek's Jean-Luc Picard and I'm grateful to see her portrayed so well. Thank you Templin.
Wow. I actually began tearing up near the end of the video. And I’ve never seen Babylon 5. She was an amazing woman and still very human. They don’t make space operas like these for tv anymore.
Recommendation for next Dossier: one of the Keyes from Halo, which can be a collab with Halo Canon or those other Halo lore Channels. Or General George Hammond of Stargate SG-1. Bless that man.
Seriously, get your hands on the complete series. Although it has it's fair share of bad acting and filler episodes, imo it's one of the best sci-fi universes available on screen.
If you have amazon Prime all 5 seasons are on Prime Video for free
B5 is now currently airing on the Comet cable channel in the U.S. every weekday.
Susan Ivanova, was *"an Amazing woman"* because she was played by a *very Amazing Actress, Ms. Claudia Christian!*
Thank for doing such a great service to this legendary character of Scifi. If a may suggest Londo Mollari and G'kar for a future dossier.
Absolutely! Londo and /or G'Kar. Both such complex and well-acted characters and arguably it was their moral and ethical evolution that was one of the key story anchors of the series.
And Vir. Oh my god Vir. Timid, shy, and unassuming, he ended up having a massive pair of balls and two of the greatest Crowning Moments of Awesome I've ever seen without losing sight of who he was.
Vir was neat but both Londo and G'Kar were wonderful precisely because they lost sight of who they were and had to find themselves and purpose once more. Their hard paths to their better selves is the best character arc in sci fi, comparable with Jamie in GoT ( the books cover this better ).
This is superb! Ivanova had some of the best moments from B5. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, you are in for such a treat when you finally watch it.
Amen. Amazon is streaming this excellent series now.
B5 is one of the greatest IMO. Definitely in my Top 5.
I just shared this to Claudia's fan page.
Great job.
THANK YOU, I was going to do that. Have you put it on Claudia's actual page?
Susan Ivanova... an absolute badass and a great character.
Okay...this was great! I have never watched Babylon 5 and know little to nothing about it. After watching this and seeing how deep and interesting this character is, I am reconsidering. Great...looooong binge coming. I guess I am not going anywhere until late Spring eh?
Lucky for you, the entire series is available to stream here on RUclips. Word of advice, when you get to 'Late Delivery From Avalon', you WILL cry
The show is brilliant! It can be cheesy at times but hey it was the 90's, what show didn't get cheesy then right? ;)
Babylon 5 is often described as a Sci-Fi Opera because it is a very profound show that really deals with moral issues in a delicate and thoughtful manner. If memory serves, Susan was one of the earliest bisexual characters in Science Fiction, something that is still a highly combative topic today, but her story was treated with such respect by the writers and actors that it was a perfect addition to her character and to the story at large.
B5 definitely has a very deep and rich lore, I'm sure you'll love it :)
5 Seasons and about 5 or 6 movies (depending on if you count the pilot as a movie or part of the show), plus a 1 season spin off show called Crusade. See ya in the Spring ;)
Oooh, just wait until you learn to loath Alfred Bester played by Walter Koenig who played Pavel Chekov from the original Star Trek. He doesn't appear often, but I'd love to strangle him every time.
An actor that shines in this show and should have gotten more prominent roles.
Best bromance I have ever seen, and though the CGI is dated the story is so good and the people feel real.
The Name of Susan Ivanova, Will never be Forgotten!
We need a HD re-release of B5.
You guys are amazing Babylon five was my childhood. Hearing about all the cast who have passed away hurts but I am glad I got to see those amazing acting they did on this show. Once again you guys did a great job.
Not sure which one was sadder, Michael O'Hare's passing or Jerry Doyle's journey beyond the rim
@@donaldpaluga Michael O'hare I say Jerry Doyle had a rough run but at the end he was at peace with his life and had a great out look on life. That speech with the last con he did was great If you haven't seen it go watch it. Great stuff with most of the cast being their as well.
@@gregspoony7691 I read his book and man, while I think he'd agree with some of his policies Jerry would NOT be down with Trump
Great dossier, but I think it should have included more details about her near-death and revival by Marcus. He gave his life for hers, that was a serious turning point for her emotionally and mentally. I also think that moment is one of the key reasons she didn't accept command of Babylon 5 after John had to resign.
Elevator scene at 04:00 was brilliant lol
I cracked up when I saw that scene. It was so Ivanova.
Yes, besides all the badass moments in this video, she also had some very funny scenes. Delenn's hair care scene and the scene with Zathras to mention two.
she had alot of those" dont piss off ivanova" moments! just a great character!
To everyone: All seasons of Babylon 5 are on Amazon Prime
For free
Nice to know this.....Thank you.
You just made my week bro
I love "Babylon 5" and watch it once a year. It's almost like a pilgrimage for me. The show still makes me smile, laugh, think, and cry like none other. "Babylon 5" was so beautifully done and its ending literally rips your heart out of your chest. There will NEVER be another like it, and I think that's the best part of the show.
Oh that Breakfast scene!
Pudlord Tynan. GARIBALDI!!! YOU'RE A DEAD MAN!!!
Best line ever
Ah the Lolz ^_^
"Now I am the expanding Russian frontier."
"With very nice borders!" :)
I've never seen a show like Babylon 5 since it went off. It was truly amazingly epic. Ivanova is one of my favorite characters of all time.
Currently rewatching Babylon 5. What a great series, and Ivanova is such a great, multi faceted character.
We need one of these on Londo Mollari
You have to make a Dossier on Sinclair and Sheridan, hell the rest of the main cast as well
Thank you to all the writers of B5 for creating this wonderful character, and to JMS, and especially to Claudia Christian. Such a good story. Such good characters.
I have her action figure!
It came with a Starfury model.
Now this is how you build a legend. By giving them flaws and character development that make them relatable. Not like say a certain Mary Sue that is good at all the things without prior experience or training in Star Wars :)
I already like and sympathize with Susan way more just from watching this!
It's on Prime
This was amazing. Babylon 5 doesn't get enough love.
Geez, I missed so much as I don't recall seeing anything of B5 after the shadow wars. Loved this show. Thanks (5 years later)
Excellent Dossier episode
Excellent tribute. That brought me to tears.
A B5 dossier! YAY! :)
And very well done, I might add.
Beautifully written and lovingly done...great job guys!!!
One of the finest XOs that you will ever see in sci-fi, and more than that, a superb character portrayed brilliantly by a talented actress. Wonderful. Simply wonderful.
Ivanova was such a great character. Glad to see her getting the spotlight! Always love it when you guys cover Bab5 :D
Loving the Babylon 5 content, you guys definitely need to do one for G'kar now
I second this.
Susan would get along quite well with another commander- Kira Nerys of Deep Space Nine.
Good to see you guys back
Today's sci fi could really learn a lot from Babylon 5. They got so many things right, they had great stories, original ideas. And most importantly characters that were properly fleshed out and you actually gave a damn about. Not the copy and paste generic forgettable mush we have now. Susan Ivanova was hands down one of the best characters in a show full of great characters.
Do Jack O'Neill from Stargate next please
Excellent pick.
Is not a millennium later, but million years later. When, the humans moved too the vorlon homeworld. You should do g'kar next
I would love to see an episode on G'Kar: Resistance fighter, ruthless politician, Kha'Ri Councilor, Narn Ambassador, Citizen, Prophet, Philosopher...
One does not simply piss off Susan Ivanova!
Videos like this makes me wish I could up vote more than once. Well done as always. Thank you for keeping Babylon 5 alive. My favorite sci fi show ever.
Susan was one of my favourite character of Babylon 5.
Wow, I seriously got goosebumps from this video. Well done! I love this character from Babylon 5.
One of my favorite sci fi characters ever across the mediums of science fiction. I am glad you did this
This was beautifully done!
"No strong female characters in sci-fi until Disney's Star Wars."
Yeah, sure.
I was going to say about the same thing. Disney is becoming a social liability. It will be thier undoing.
no that not
Logical fallacy - Star Wars is *not* Sci-fi - it is swords and princesses fantasy fiction
Wait who said that? Is that a direct quote from someone specific?
@@adamofblastworks1517 it's the spinpoint the whole marketing campaign of this new star worse shit is fabricated around.
and to say, besides criticism of that shitfest of lying and denying other strong female characters like ripley, janeway and sarah connor and many many more, that rey is a fuckin mary sue... is sexist!
just search "mary sue sexist" in youtube and puke about that dumb marketing campaign.
If ever there was a series that screamed reboot me it is Babylon 5
Except pretty much anyone wanting to reboot it other than the original creator that kind of got screwed by the networks would probably mess it up.
I'd let it stay as it is, cheesy FX and all. No one can replace Andreas Katsulas as G'Kar.
I'd say make an HD version of the original, it's difficult and very costly, but possible.
thewertzone.blogspot.com/2018/05/hd-version-of-babylon-5-may-be-possible.html
While I’d love a reboot, I get the sinking feeling whichever network rebooted it would fuck it up.
Ivanova is my favorite B5 character, thank you so much for making this video
A great character. Thank you for this trip down memory lane!
Do the factions from one of the original space opera franchises. Do the factions of space battleship Yamato particularly in their formats we see in the hit 2199 reboot
Thanks you for mentioning Talia and Susan's relationship!
Wonderful video! A beautiful summation of one of science fiction's great characters.
Awesome vid! Its nice to see some more B5 love
Beautifully done, Templin. Beautifully done.
OMG Babylon 5!!!! I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!! Thank you Templin Institute!
Lol that almost made me cry! She was one of the best characters on TV ever.
Thank You, a character that will never be forgotten !!
Dossiers on the WING COMMANDER universe please!!
Ambassador G'kar would be great for this series.
We live for the one. We die for the one.
Yet another great video! With his return, I would love to see a video on Roboute Guilliman from 40k.
An idea for a future video would be an overview of the Earth Alliance.
That was a cool show to watch 👍
Wasn't just cool. It was epic. Something they don't do anymore 😉
I wish I could give more than one thumbs up for this ep !!
I didn't know she was Jewish. That's just to show that I need to rewatch this awesome series.
"God sent me..."
Love the video.
A Truly Tremendous Tribute...
God dam Templin I got goosebumps
She was always my favorite on that show

I will never guive up
And a video about Cadia would be great too
Scp.
Yes.
#Guardsman by #RichardBoylan Go watch it NOW!
Good video. I love Susan Ivanova. Could you do a video about the Republic of Haven from the Honor Harrington novels? You could also do a video about Honor, if you haven't done so already!
I recommend Lt. Cmdr. Worf
I'd love a Worf video.
I CAN SEE THE APPEAL OF THAT VIDEO!
The only flaw was no mention of her near fatal injuries during the Shadow War.
Ivanova and Sheridan were two of my favourite characters in any work of fiction.
The right hand of vengeance casts a long shadow.
One of my favorite characters in all science fiction.
Bravo!, she and Sheridan, well Deleen to are best characters in Babylon 5.
Your best one yet !
Bad Ass, thank you for this moving piece.
I hope we'll see Ibram Gaunt from the Gaunts Ghosts 40k novels one day in this series
Oh yeah, Babylon 5!
Awesome! One of my favorite characters in sci-fi!
Next time...MY way...
Look of abject horror on Ivanova's face.
Susan, is there something you'd like to tell me...?
NO...!
That STILL cracks me up!!
Wow, I've watched Battlestar, SG-1, Andromeda, Firefly, Star Trek, and many more..but I haven't seen Babylon 5. Well now, that's got to change.
"Captain if something happens on this station and I don't know about it, worry."
Best, Friday, ever.
Brilliant! Brilliant!
Susan Andreovna Ivanova b. August 10 2230
Joined EarthForce on her 17th birthday, graduating the OTC in 2249
She NEVER served in the Earth-Minbari War.
She did not have any romantic feelings for Sheridan, he was a friend and her CO.
She only made contact with the Walkers of Sigma 957. It was Lorien who brought the other First Ones into the final battle.
There was only a statue in the memorial park on Minbar, that Delenn ordered flowers to be laid at.
Please if you are going to do research, do it properly.
"Who am I? I am Susan Ivanova, Commander, daughter of Andrei and Sofie Ivanov. I am the right hand of vengeance, and the boot that is gonna kick your sorry ass all the way back to Earth, sweetheart. I am death incarnate and the last living thing that you are ever going to see. God sent me."
Great video!
P.S: Not criticizing, but Death Guard deserved same anount of care and research.
truly awesome
general mordok , richard castle , malchador sigilite , saint celestine and guy in suit in person of interest
Long Live Babylon 5!
excellent truly excellent
