I kinda wish college youtubers talked more about dating in college, being black at a PWI, the fact that college literally flies by, and learning how to be okay with feeling like you're not going enough

I would love you to maybe touch on how a professor/teacher assistant can really make or break certain classes. Maybe you can also talk about how hard it is to make friends as a commuter going to college while having a job. Im currently in my first year of college and while I wouldn't say its been horrible, I definitely haven't had the "best" experience. I work 20+ hours a week and go to school (currently taking 16 credits), so it's already hard enough making friends, but it seems like theres such a difference between commuters and people who live in dorms.

i’m from new jersey and unc charlotte has been my dream school for years and i recently applied. just by the things that their social media accounts have posted this months makes me happy to see how inclusive they are to the black community, through different events and clubs and the things that you mentioned. i also noticed they are really gender and lgtbq+ inclusive! 😊
i absolutely love it and they really make sure everyone is accounted for/taken care of!
I think a really good topic to talk about would be the "loneliness you experience when you don't fit in the whole "college experience' life. I'm not sure if you have experienced this as a college student but I'm a freshman at UNCC and because I don't like to party, drink, smoke, everything of that sort, I definitely feel "lonely" in a way. Like instead of going out to a party on a Saturday night, I'm always in the dorm watching TV, while my roommates are out. It's not that I'm not a social person(because I'm definitely am) , but a lot of people I've met are into that stuff and I'm just not. While I'm only 19, I've kinda passed that stage. My idea of fun is bowling, going out to eat, skating, things like that but very few people are into that. Especially at our PWI

I'm currently on a gap year, I love your college diaries because I feel like I'm actually learning what to expect in august and understand that it's not always going to be easy and that's okay.
As a 24 year old that is trying to figure out life outside of work to avoid constant burnout... definitely glad to hear younger adults are trying to understand this sooner ❤️ Definitely hope colleges lean more towards having college students learn this!

The hardest part of college was when I was a freshman and struggled to find community and friends. This go round in my junior year I’m doing a lot better at talking to people around me
I still haven't found mine tbh. I go to class and then back to my apartment & that's all lol

I graduated in December and honestly I don't feel like my experience was 0-100...more like a constant 50. 😅 I wish people would talk about feeling like they are behind or left out more. College is different for everyone, but I am still grateful for the experience.
I agree with the statement that college is different for everyone. Im in my second year and I like it but its okay, not bad but not great lol

I'm a college youtuber and I too feel like we should be more open about what college is REALLY like. Everyone isn't going to have the same college experience & as the saying goes: "college is what you make it". With that being said, I do need to be more involved with my school and other people who are like me, here at my PWI. My school does make efforts to have all inclusive events, and minority events, etc. We have a good percentage of people of color at my school that I should be more involved with.

I’ve been considering going back to school because I miss the learning community and the familiarity of being around other college students. I dropped out last year and just took the remaining year to figure out what I want and what I’m doing. Lots of ups and downs I tell ya! But the segment when you spoke about the high expectations on teens I relate(although I'm 20 - age between teen and young adult). I had a conversation with a fellow student coworker and it opened my eyes a lot, I’m gonna save some money this year and go back next year. That’s the plan. The pandemic robbed me of my transition from high school to college and I really want to go back.

People on social media that are in college, doesn’t show the trials and tribulations of college. Yeah they do over romanticize college, and don’t show the TRUE struggles of college life. They don’t show the constant major changes that people do, they don’t show what it’s like to fail a college test, etc. people on social media doesn’t show how stressful and anxiety building college can really be. I’ve been through it. When it comes to leaving college, you’re gonna be COMPLETELY lost. It feels like you’ve been thrown to the wolves, having to teach yourself how to survive in the real world.

For someone that is going to college soon, I would love advice on how to connect with a teacher, because a lot of ppl tell me that the professors don't help you with anything and that you are basically on your own. Could you ever go to a teacher for help or tutoring?
Not for tutoring but yes for help. Professors would love to help you! I don’t like that it’s a stereotype cus it prevents students from truly succeeding.

I agree with college videos lacking important topics. Choosing a major and a job after college are important, but what about the transition from being out of high school going into college? One minute you go from being a child to a whole a*s adult within 3-4 months and that’s pretty scary. I wish YT was poppin when I was going to college because I was metaphorically lost. I also wanted to congratulate you on finding a major you like and YAY for choosing one in humanities and media! I got my Bachelor’s in English with a minor in Spanish and did post-grad in Education (I wanted to be a journalist in L.A. or a teacher overseas). I think it’s the Gemini trait in always excelling in communication and art.

Do you have a study timetable I feel like I don’t spend as much time studying (I do study) but I don’t think I do it enough and i think it’s because I value my friends a bit more than my education I don’t know I feel like I’m just in a very confused spot (for context I’m a first year in university in Dublin, Ireland also I’m a law student)
