i love how the video makes you connect the dots yourself sometimes. he doesnt flat-out always say what Reilly is up to, just slams it onto you out of the blue like "cutting his arms dealing to an abrupt end." so good
This was a fun story. Reilly was clearly a blowhard. At best, his intrigues in the early USSR came to nought. At worst he helped solidify Bolshevik control and strengthen the worst tendencies of the new regime. Also, let’s face it, only an idiot would fall for the ruse that did him in.
I didn't say it was a country, but thanks for pointing this out if you felt it was implied. In 1874, the region of Ukraine was territorially split between the Russian Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. At the time, Odessa was referred to as "New Russia" or "Novorossiya".

Thank you Mr. Thompson! Great vid!
Fascinating as usual. Thank you.
One small nit-pick, at 3.50 minutes the £5 note would have been an old white fiver.
That was a great series I remember watched as a kid. with Sam Neill
I saw the movie.

Ukraine wasn't a real country in 1874.
