    I just typed in angle grinding a deck and this came up. Used a liquid stripper on our deck 2 times and just not satisfied enough with the wood, going to stain it. I used an angle grinder to strip our log cabin so am good with that and am considering using grinder on the deck like this. When I used the grinder on the cabin it was really slow going, with each stroke small and calculated. The logs were curved. Then sanded with orbital.
    ? is how do you use that grinder thst fast with the disk completely on the wood without gouging it, or damaging it? Do you not put much pressure on it? Does the metal circle in the middle not get in the way? What was the bigger grinder for in particular, just to do more faster? Just some random ?s. Ty

    Do you need to go over it with lighter grit afterwards to make the timber smooth?

      No, after I apply the first coat, I use 120 grit sandpaper to smooth out before final coats

    Hey. That looks amazing. Curious question. Can you use this method to sand old water based stain off to restain it again? Is there any issue with the wood grain after hitting it with a grinder?

      This method works well however If your putting a clear on top you will need to be careful not to get swirl marks on your timber, a floor sander or orbital sander after this sander will fix that issue

    Hi , Happy Easter,
    I got a question for you 🤫
    We have new fresh gyprock and skirting all installed , ready to paint !!!
    What are steps ?
    Before we prime anything should we use no more gap and filler on wall and skirting?
    Then all dry ready for sand and start prime ?
    Also when we do prime , what get painted first?
    If wall ( ceiling done ) , then do we need to cut with brush where the skirting meets wall ? And finish wall prime then do prime skirting?
    In summary I just need to understand the A-Z steps not to miss on anything,
    Many thanks

      Hi, welcome to the channel, happy Easter back to you.
      I would start by rolling the walls with undercoat, then brush the skirtings.
      Lightly sand the walls with 180 Grit sandpaper, dust, and gap /caulk the skirtings.
      Cut and roll the walls with your finish paint, and also put a coat on the skirtings with the wall paint.
      Once walls are finished you can then gloss straight over the skirtings.

    Ever worried about the disks snapping and coming at your face when doing this on decks or weatherboard/facia?
    What grit disk would you use on weatherboards and facia without leaving swirls?

    • @ThePa1nterhowto
      @ThePa1nterhowto  Год назад +2

      I use 24 grit myself but 36 grit is good also. If you practice and don't get your sanding disc jammed, it's no problems with it hitting you but in saying that I did have one jam on the fascia and cut my faces leaving a nice scar

    Hi ,why wouldn't you use mirka or festool sander with hoover

    • @ThePa1nterhowto
      @ThePa1nterhowto  Год назад +2

      I have two festools, neither are any match for a 4" or 7" sander grinder, its got everything to do with the speed.

    Any particular brand or type of sanding disk for wood?

    • @ThePa1nterhowto
      @ThePa1nterhowto  2 года назад

      I like the norzon 36 grit for decks, blue norzon last many times longer than the brown ones.

    What was the point of the grinder bit of a overkill didn't see anything loose or flaky . Pole sander would have been fine.

    • @ThePa1nterhowto
      @ThePa1nterhowto  Год назад +3

      Grinder is to make sure I remove any dead wood, nails,lumps, create a key, pole sander would never do the job properly.
