Gordy Howe International Bridge on May 7, 2024. Detroit, Michigan 4K drone video.
Stay cables are anchored to pylons or towers and support the weight of the deck by transmitting the load to the towers. The design of these cables involves considerations such as material selection, length, diameter, and arrangement. They are typically made of high-strength steel and arranged in a fan-like pattern to evenly distribute the load.

Never forget the Gordie Howe hat trick. One goal, one assist and one fight.
But did he hate to lose?
Great skater, I loved watching him.
Did you hear about the time that Wayne Gretzky took the puck away from Gordie Howe at a scrimmage match ? He was politely told to never do that again.
I love watching them work so hard to put this beautiful bridge up!!! Gordie Howe would be so proud!!!! 💪💪💪💪.....
Thank you Cynthia for watching the video!
Getting so close....I respect all these guys building this bridge. The smarts and the guts to do this work....
Very close! Thanks for watching!
I like how it's named after Gordie Howe. Cool idea.
Couldn't agree more. I'm also very happy that there is no corporate naming rights deal with it. Naming rights are a pox no matter where they are.
It should be...Canada paid for it and Stephen Harper's a big hockey fan
Can’t wait to drive across it!!
those friendly ironworkers waving to the camera . . . nice.
Beautiful Zug Island in the background
It's always nice to see.
Cool!! Finally getting,to the final piece. The joining of the two countries, via a Bridge. G
paid for by Canada
I get a kick out of when the workers see the drone.
I do too! 😁
While standing way up there not using their safety gear.
@@refich They don't have their harness on?
Nice production , great drone work❤
I like to watch as many Gordie Howe International Bridge videos as possible. This is the nice Video I seen so far. 🙂
Thank you so much! 😊
Beautiful, i cant wait!
The "Topping Off Party" should be amazing, the Tim Horton donuts and coffee are on me!
I'm in!
I have already check for Tim's location, on both sides of the river.
Canadian obesity stay open longer, and there is a hell of a lot more!
How many boxes can your drone carry?
And I bet you are skilled enough, not to spill a drop of coffee!
@@WeazelJaguar 😅☕️🍩
I would have border patrol surrounding me for sure. 🚔
Looks like a good job on a nice day
Awesome flights ! Thanks for documenting this cool project. 👍🍁🤙
Thank you so much Blueman!
second to last cable Americans and Canadians have one segment to go until we install the keystone. we are now 10 feet until connection so next week or in two weeks we will connect.
Thank you for watching!
Each have one segment?
Those workers standing on platforms at the top of the towers make me feel dizzy! Wow that is not a job I would want to do - full respect guys!👍 Interesting to see this part of the cable installation process. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure and thanks for watching!
Thank you for the respect! Takes a lot to be up there all day
@@Kdizzle-vf7uy Who were you calling on your phone?
How exciting! Best video yet. Great shots of the top ends of the cables.
Thank you 🙏
Excellent! Thanks.
My pleasure!
I think I heard in an interview somewhere that the final piece of bridge is a cheat piece? That is its designed to be adjusted in size to the exact length of the remaining small gap before being put in place as this couldn't be precisely known in advance given manufacturing tolerances, thermal expansion etc. That would be interesting to see!
I heard about that too.
Yes, I'm interested in the details perhaps the final span will actually be three Two fixed. and a slider in between.
I've built parts for this!
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it Frankie!
I was definitely wondering when a video coming out. I would love to see the final connection.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@michaelanthonyvideos Well you be there for the first piece of the final section?
Wow thanks
My pleasure!
❤❤❤❤❤ Filmări bune de documentar , ca și la podul peste Dunăre , in Brăila , România .
Thank you!
Another good video! Thank you for sharing! Anyone know how the individual cables are fastened at each end and how they are tensioned?
It’s my pleasure, thanks for watching!
Hey brother, i am one of the guys up there in the mast climber! Super sick videos, i was wondering if there was anyway i could get some more of the footage of us up there. I know you came up 2 days in a row and hung out up there for a while around us. It would be cool to show my friends and family!
Hey Jeremiah, I do have more footage of you guys, another video will be up in an hour. Send me an email in the “about” section please.
Couldn't find your email in the about section!
all the bolts on the Canadian side of the bridge are metric.
all the bolts on the USA side are Imperial.
and all the cables are held in by one 10mm bolt
😂😂😂😂😂
And no one can find the 10mm socket.
WOW!!! The view over top of the whole thing was Amazing..is there an estimated connection date??
Thanks David!
And that was only the installation of the first cable in what will eventually become around 130 or so on each of the cable supports on each side from both ends It does take some time to do all of that cabling but I can still see it being fully connected by July 1 even though there will still be cable to run it will be connected. I am wondering if they will call it connected when the last steel beam to the total structure is connected or are they going to wait until it is truly connected without any gaps in the surface of the bridge?
I'm saying it is connected when one piece is connected between the two spans.
Those red globes hanging beneath the bridge are balloons to keep that section of bridge afloat if it falls into the water.
Hopefully they won't ever have to use them.
Anybody know how many more sections?
Compliments of Canada, approved by former Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, a huge hockey fan
MAV hits the high mark again!
🙏👍 Thank you Mike!
I’m sorry. Did I miss the stay cable install? When did it happen?
They put one of the cables thru the plastic pipe and haul it up to the top. They secure and tension this cable. They then put in the remaining 129 cables and tension them, one or two at a time 30,000 LBS a/per cable. The farther out they go, the more cables required. It takes some time
30,000lbs??? Do you have proof?
WONDERFUL - keep it up ! So, the guy on top of the tower, was he asking for a tip with his cupped hands ?
I think he was wanting to get the drone to land in his hands.
I think he wanted me to land the drone in his hands.
@@michaelanthonyvideos ♥
Was not thinking that, but I’ll take a tip next time! $200 a minute for film footage!
I Canada going to set the final beams , or is each side going to set one?
Good question! Anybody know?
I suspect the US side sets their cable necessary section, complete the cement work to move their crane forward, and then both attach to the ceremonial section. Being it's a Canadian led project, it also would be appropriate if that crew alone set the beam solo.
One guy working a hand winch, 43 guys watching....
I thought that was just to funny. I am surprised that they were using a fully manual winch system . In the 21’st century a motorized winch with a load meter ?
👷🏻♂️😳
1:21 The right hand side appears slightly higher.
Later level shots show it very level. i think it was just camera distortion
Who's Gordy Howe? Nice video. Appropriate music. Amazing bridge.
Hockey player. The bridge was paid for by Canada. Canada's Prime Minister at the time was Stephen Harper, he approved the spending - he's a huge hockey fan.
He was a Canadian Hockey player (one of the best) that played his whole career with the Detroit Red Wings. So sort of a sport ambassador for both US and Canada
Throwing Frisbee, or knocking tennis balls back and forth?
Too far to pass a joint yet.
they probably throw bolts
A frisbee would be cool to see.
Oh my Gosh! Is this fantastic bridge near joining ?
When American Steel meets Canadian Steel .....It will be a PARTY !
SBF
Hello SBF, thank you for watching the video!
So close
Praying for his family.
Who’s??
Cincinnati"s new bridge is at the drawing board!! Turtles move faster!!🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
I would do that job… for a billion dollars an hour then I’d quit after my first day.
me too, then I would go to tacobell
Have you tried the new cantina menu items?
Interesting that there only seem to be a few people actually working. Is this a government job?
Union jobs.
Nope i didnt like the music. It didnt work other than that. Its all history recorded here
🙄
The music wasn’t necessary.
😭🙄
