Joel McCrea's film, Ride the High Country is one of my all-time favorites - a real end-of-an-era, elegaic film with some magnificant scenery and poignant dialogue. I'll never forget the scene with McCrae on his horse, looking up into the sky and seeing a jet plane fly by. It was so much not what his life had been about. For anyone who has any interest in cinema this is a must-watch film. I'm so happy that Wyatt has taken steps to preserve his grandfather's legacy. Nice to listen to him recount stories about a true Hollywood legend. Thanks for that interview Harvey
Loved seeing this great interview and learning more about the life and career of Joel McCrea. I'm a huge classic movie buff, and believe Joel McCrea is one of the greatest screen actors ever. In both comedies and drama, he made the art of acting look so easy and natural, allowing his performances to maintain a freshness and modern tone unmatched by most of his peers. He also came across as very down-to-earth, which made it easy for audiences to identify with him and by very moved by his powerful, complex work in classics such as "Sullivan's Travels" and "Ride the High Country." Frances Dee also had a lovely, gentle screen presence, and added much to her screen roles.
And who can forget how wonderful Joel was in "These Three" with Miriam Hopkins and Merle Oberon! He was a great actor. A few of my favourites....
