About a year ago a “Joel Macrea” film popped up on my phone. I had no idea who he was, but decided to watch it. At the first of the movie there’s this man walking across the western street, and I thought “Whoever that guy is he seems perfectly natural as a cowboy.” And then when he got on the horse and rode out of town I thought “That guy has got to be a cowboy in real life.” So after I found out who “that guy” was, I’ve been watching his (Joel’s) movies whenever I get a chance. So far I’ve enjoyed all I’ve seen. Just so impressed. Wyatt seems to take after his grandfather in his mannerisms and personality. From what I’ve seen.
Words can’t express the appreciation I have for Wyatt (and his grandparents & family) for preserving this history! The bunkhouse was the home of my great-great grandfather (August Dumortier). After his passing, his daughter, Celine, came out and fell in love & married another local rancher (Jean Baptiste Lapeyre) that shared a property line with this one. They raised my grandfather, Alexis, on that ranch (Tierra Rejada) and he later inherited it and became good friends with Joel McCrea. Many thanks for sharing this wonderful interview with Wyatt!
Such a wonderful couple I am totally amazed at his career search a gentleman and terrific actor very handsome and so humble I have never seen a Joel McCrea movie that I did not like and Francis Dee is absolutely a beautiful fabulous lady and actress dot-dot. They don't make them like these two anymore
Mr. McCrea, this was so lovely to see, the home is so sweet and hearing how the folks did things back then, ....first things first, how he got the ranch and then started the house and then couldn’t stand being away from the fair maid, Miss Dee...why hasn’t someone made a movie of this? A shew in for Turner Classic Movies, wouldn’t anyone agree with me?
This was so very wonderful to have this visit to the home of Joel and Frances McCrea and hear some of the reminiscences from Wyatt McCrea of his grandparents. Our family met him at Kanab, Utah and were most impressed with his genuine personality that must have been part of his own parents lives as well as his grandparents. Thank you also for the interviewers. Time well spent!
We are so proud of you Wyatt and Lisa for preserving the family history and ranch! We can't wait to come see it and spend time with you - its been way too long! Very best, Heidi
I loved this, I love both of their movies!! I grew up watching him...Buffalo Bill, The Tall Stranger, Ramrod, Sullivan's Travels, Four Faces West, such great movies!!
This is a really good interview, worth your time to watch. The ladies ask the right questions and Wyatt McCrea's familiarity with his Grandparents - Joel and Frances - provides us with some great personal insights in to their average life style. Thanks for uploading this. Cheers from Canada
I have always loved watching Joel McCrea movies so this was interesting to watch. But....why didn't you show us some of the 'beloved ranch'? I was really hoping to see some of it.
Joel McCrea was a great actor, one of my absolute favorites. He has a scene with Jean Arthur on the steps of their apartment during war time trying to say goodnight to each other. It is the most erotic, sensual scene between a man and a woman I have ever seen. No nudity, no foul language just great acting. :)
I have loved his movies forever , Saddle Trap is so wonderful 🤠
He must be so proud of his grandson 🙏🏻

Joel was like the epitome of the All-American great he-man: handsome but gentle and well-mannered
