Presentation: Hardware could be an issue. Was his Lucky Craft tied or was it clipped just like your Calissa? Action: Was speed of retrieve the same? How erratic were your retrieves: the same or different? If he worked the Calissa, would he get the same results? Great video. Thank you for sharing.
I'm an amateur fisherman, but what seemed to be the most obvious difference between the two was your retrieval speed. Your guy was definitely winding much slower than you were.
To answer all of your questions about the two lures, take them to a swimming pool and put them to the underwater test. To see how the both of them work and swim . Make sure you have a gopro in the pool to catch all the action. And also a nice clean and clear pool so the gopro catches all the footage. Take care. We down in Cali.
been using it for about a month works for the first few trips but after the 3rd or 4th trip they start to swim strait. about 80 % of the time they swim right. thing needs more r and d cause the weight stops and you got to shake it hard alot for the ball to drop...great review!!
Butt hurt that’s fascinating. If they are using that much sub par components and still charging this much, the mark ups must be pretty good! Haha we’ll mess with it more. Appreciate you!
Have you looked at Dynamic Lures HD XXL. I’ve never fished them in the surf but I’ve had good success with their other stuff. It’s only a 5” bait but it’s 1.3 oz which might be good for surf casting, plus its adjustable.
Great content man! Love the info. New to the sport and trying to find my way. Loved to meet you out there sometime. I have been frequenting the central coast the past couple of weeks, hope to see you out there!
KENNETH DERBONNE lol new to the sport? WELCOME TO THE RABBIT HOLE! Haha the tip of the iceberg- where you can go as simple as a wall mart rod a weight and some grubs all the way to $20 jerkbaits. It’s all so fun. Thanks for the support! Stop and say hi if we’re on the beach
Why didn't the two of you switch lures and/or rods? Many variables still in play i.e. retrieve speed, pole height, red line along the Lucky Craft gill, color reflection in water, lure action, etc.
Mike's Tackle Box no way bro! Welcome to the channel! Hope you enjoy the content since it’s all new for you! 😂 but seriously. This was as unbiased as possible. We really wanted to see it kill it but 7 LC to 0 on the calissa is hard to swallow...
Hook2Cook the anglers needed to know the truth and it’s awesome to know that we now have that information. Knock offs are not always a solution. Cheers brotha
Yeah man, can't win em all...lol. Thanks for sharing and hoping that the cheaper one catches lots of surf perch in your next fishing ventures. God bless
I've been tossing the LC for a very, very long time (years and years)... No action on it at all, but I keep buying them and keep throwing them. One of these days I'll get better at fishing them or finding the right spots so they can work their magic!
How do you rig, straight braid or do you use a mono or fluorocarbon leader? If you use a leader do you use a swivel or or tie straight to quick release clip? Keep up the good work, love your videos!
@@augustharper3121 Thank you for the comment. Yea, we tried to be as thorough as possible to clear up all the variables. Always appreciative of your interaction! :)
I say we hit Paul Nelson pool in Santa Maria. Walking in like "just tuning some lures." J/k but for real ween should tune the Calissa. Any locals that live in apartments PM us!
@@Hook2Cook Very cool. After October 1 , I will be at Grover Beach for 10 days. Wanting to fish Rancho Guadalupe , Oso Flaco , and some other spots. Maybe I will see you on the beach. Scott
The Lucky Craft makes in Japan and the Calissa Makes in China. I bought both lures and put them side by side, The Lucky Craft is way better quality lure. I didn’t use them yet, but I’ll pay a few dollars more for the Lucky Craft.
Awesome! I need to change all the splits and hooks on my LCs. Honestly i have only had 1 split ring fail and that was on my 1st cast ever with a LC. I had a legal Hali drop at my feet cause of it lol but that’s fishing 🎣
Maybe a pool test to see action side x side. Also - it’s Always worth a truer test - leave all variables out: Same colors, same rigging, etc... but dude, that was a long time & a lot of casts to get nothing while the LC was getting bit 🤷🏻♂️
Yea that's why this video took so long to put out. It wouldnt have been very fair without a good bite. It worked out perfectly Mario killed it on the LC

if the builds and appearance are nearly identical then im assuming it's an internal weight transfer difference. lookin forward to that lure dissecting video #superglowsardinesurgery (sike lol)
Seaside Roots dissecting a glow sardine would be sooooo painful... maybe the aurora perch... haha also under closer inspection the bill on the LC is a little thicker. By a few millimeters!
Here’s where we cut them in half! ruclips.net/video/yf17r0uRRg4/видео.html
The glow in the dark Calissa glows a little brighter and longer than the Lucky Craft.
The paint used was originally used on the Calissa flat fall jigs so it goes on thick and bright!

Yup my 6 dollar repala from Walmart killing halibut in southern California got 5 this year
Based off the pick of the aurora lc vs calissa is the blue iridescence on the lc where you dont see on the calissa

use pearl white 110 in twilight conditions, they stand out more during this time as well as during cloudy skies.

How far south does the red tide go? I'm planning a fishing trip this weekend, so I want to avoid that stuff.
Also, where is that tiny harbor at 7:02
Gaijilla himself red tide goes probably as far as Lompoc but not 100% sure. Where are you coming from?
The harbor was on the Air Force base
@@Hook2Cook I'm in Santa Maria
Crap i bought 7 calissas off of your link but i got the super glow hopefully that makes a difference.
I predict Calissa will perform comparably :)
How are you able to fish Vandenberg beaches , as they are in the Vandenberg SMR ? Curious , not playing game warden here.
There’s certain beaches outside of the protected areas. Vince is allowed on base with guests.
