I'm surprised you only know of one song and don't know how big Duran Duran were in the 80s and 90s. They were BEATLES, ROLLING STONES BIG lol, at one point they were the biggest top selling band in the world and have at least 20+ hit songs. They were that big.

I can't describe to you adequately with words how massive DD were in the 80s and to say this was one of their biggest hits is probably an understatement as well. This song has a very special place in every Duranies heart. I'm positive it sounds familiar to you because it is. If you got hypnotized and transported to your youth, you probably heard it on the radio 100 times. 😂 Also, there are definitely flute (or is it an ocarina?) Sounds going on in the background. Good ear man.

Love your Duran Duran reactions. During this tour I attended my first DD concert as a 13 year old. It was amazing. They were one of the biggest bands of the eighties. Save a prayer was a huge hit.

Nick Rhodes, the synthessist is the blond, uses a sound from the synth to make that flute sound. John Taylor is the bassist with dark hair and red flowery pants, with a big smile on his face. Simon, the singer with the shaggy hair, and Warren, the guitarist with the shaggy dark hair. The drummer was Sterling Campbell at that time.

Lighters instead of cell phones - awesome. I grew up with this band in the 80's - you have to do 'Wild Boys'.

They were the most fashionable ever. All the famous designers from Gucci, CalvinKlein, and every top designers around the world used them to showcase their fashion back then They were even awarded the title as the world's first metrosexuals (fashionable straight men) back then. Everyone from Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova and the other supermodels mentioned that Duran Duran is their favorite band and singers. Also check out the video for 'Girl Panic' where all these supermodels acted for FREE in their video 😊

Duran Duran were highly fashionable & still are but "famous" fashion & fashion designers did not "use" Duran Duran to showcase their fashion back then. The members of Duran Duran, like any individual, bought & wore clothes based on their fashion sense. For music videos & tours the band did hire fashion designer's for that purpose but the band were never "used" to be models or promoters of the top fashion designers back in the day. That's false.
Duran Duran are known to have worn clothes "famous fashion designers" such as: Jean Paul Gaultier, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana & Gianni Versace & not so much of Calvin Klein or Gucci. The band's fashion is more ubiquitous with lesser known fashion designers such as: Vivienne Westwood, Perry Haines, Scott Crolla, Issey Miyake, Kansai Yamamoto Stephen Sprouse, Fee Doran, Balmain, Halson, Peter Sidell & so forth. However, Duran Duran's main go-to fashion designer has been Anthony Price for the majority of their career.

You need to watch the original video of this. You may hear the words more as well. Even a video of this song from a more recent concert would sound better.

Rio is another great song by DD you should listen to. They were big in the 80’s and did the title song for the James Bond movie “A View to a Kill”.

DD never got the musical credit they deserved
You should listen to The Chauffeur

    • @billw715
      @billw715 10 месяцев назад

The majority of music critics back in the 1980s were stuck with the music they grew up on (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones & Billy Joel) & music critics in general, what do they do know? So receiving credit by them is hardly an ounce of importance.
And why do you perpetuate this myth that Duran Duran "never got the musical credit they deserved?" Are you stuck in a 1980s cave? Join us in the modern age, mate.
Here are some notable awards Duran Duran have received for their musicianship.
Winning the Ivor Novello Awards for songwriting & composing in 1985 for The Reflex & in 1994 for Ordinary World is not receiving musical credit?
In 1994, Duran Duran received the ASCAP Pop Music Award (honors the songwriters and publishers of the most performed pop songs) for Ordinary World & Come Undone in 1994.
They received a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 1993. In 2015, they received the Silver Clef Award for Outstanding Achievement voted by musicians & managers.
In 2003, DD received the Lifetime Achievement Award & in 2015, the Icon Award both from Q Magazine & their Q Awards.
In 2004, Duran Duran the Brit Awards for Outstanding Contribution To Music.
How about the most prestigious award of them all? The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Duran Duran were inducted into the Rock "N" Roll Hall Of Fame just last year in 2022! The voters are comprised of Duran Duran's peers, music historians, academics, journalists, & producers.
Nick Rhodes received the Roland Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.
John Taylor received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his bass playing by Bass Player Magazine in 2021.
Stop perpetuating this Duran Duran martyrdom myth that the band "never" get musical credit. That ended in the 1980s.

Duran Duran were the Biggest Band in the World in the early to mid-1980s. The synth part is a flute sound that you are referencing. This is a good live version of Save A Prayer but the recording has too much tone & not enough bass so the audio didn't really give this song enough justice to give it a more fuller sound. Another live recording of Save A Prayer would have been a better reaction to have reviewed such as their Live In London iteration.
