I love the idea of Strix traveling with an Owlbear. A really loud, twitching, short, demonling with this massive, lumbering, hootybear.
I absolutely want Hooty Mchootface to stay with Strix.

It was revealed though that that wouldn't happen in part one of this episode.
Chris referred to Drizzt as a drow, Rahadin aka Assimir was a dusk elf.

I love that Chris' voice for Drizzt is an impression of RA Salvatore. When I first saw him do that on Aq Inc it took me a while to realize what he was doing, but then it clicked and I started laughing uncontrollably. The drow from Dorchester is awesome.
I had seen that and I've seen Chris DM for RA Salvatore and I just realized what he was doing now.
Ironically Sam Witwer did the same with Mordenkainen with Gary Gygax. I appreciate the tribute but just don't like the accent in the case of Drizzt.
Nothing to do but get over it I guess.
Don't mess with Drizzt. He has been in 31 fantasy novels and knows what he is doing. :-)

My favorite part of this whole adventure was Evelyn hitting on Drizzt and him being completely oblivious to it.
Gonna need RA Salvatore to mention the doll if he ever does a scene in the vaults...

Evelen said she loves Paultin, but after seeing a celebrity (Drizzt) she forgot all about her love for Paultin.

I could be mistaken, but my headcanon for Evelyn is that she's probably bisexual and polyamorous. We know that she has feelings for Paultin, but she also seemed smitten with Drizzt and Dee (who I keep hoping will somehow come back.)

Chris has managed to make Drizzt sound really cool.
Whenever i picture Drizzt's voice, i always think on Liam O'brian. Drizzt is exactly the kind of character he usually voices over.
Know little of Drizzt's adventures, but i hope Bruenor Battlehammer makes an cameo appearence at least! Still on the voice actors topic: Benedict Cumberbatch with an irish accent. His voice is already deep and powerful enough, just add an irish accent and we have Bruenor!
"Drist Do-urn" (spelled Drizzt Do'Urden) was pronounced by our teenage D&D group as "Dra-zit Do-ur-den." We didn't have the internet back then, so we fumbled our way through things like pronouncing (over-complicated) names from fantasy authors. Nice to see another classic character show up in DCA.

No problem. I would also consider Strahd a classic D&D character. Although most people might think of him as a monster instead.
His last name is pronounced DOH-ur-den, I've never heard Salvatore pronounce it "Doh-URN" and there are no video games or audiobooks that pronounce it that way either.

Feels weird hearing Drizzt, who is known for almost never working alone since he's always accompanied by the Companions of the Hall, Artemis and Dahlia, Guenhwyvar etc. tell them "I prefer to work alone".
I'm gunna miss Berovia. I loved the accent. Oh well. ONWARD INTO THE LAND LEGENDS AND POWERS!

To be a bit of a Nerdlord McNofun, I'm very torn about this Owl Bear. On one hand, I love Owl Bears. They're amazing little things and the 5e Monster Manual does speak of tamed Owl Bears, so by technical definition, there's nothing really "wrong" about the idea of making it an animal companion. Considering the kind of shit these guys'll encounter, it's not like an Owl Bear's gonna absolutely destroy the challenge. In fact, there's a little part of me that would want my players to attempt something like this... *HOWEVER;*
On the other, if I was a DM and someone came up to me and said "I wanna tame an Owl Bear," I'd look at 2 factors to make this work. 1st of all, the person should be at a high enough level that by the strict definition of the encounter-building rules, it'd be considered an "Easy" encounter in a 1-on-1 scenario. That would mean that to tame a Owl-Bear with the EXP drop of 700, Strix should be level 9 at minimum to make it obedient. Second is time. You'd need alot of it. Perhaps by the time they'd reach the capital, the Owl-Bear might consider not eating Strix and that's only if she'd displayed to me moments of teaching it discipline.
Maybe with a party of level 15 or higher, I'd buy an Owl-Bear acting friendly faster, but without even a ranger/druid with animal handling or anybody with "Speak with Animal" and/or "Animal Friendship," I'd give Strix a year of game-world time and then we'll talk about making it an animal companion. That's not to say she couldn't use it. Baiting it around with food to do vaguely what you want is certainly fair-game. I'd just make damn sure that thing is unwieldy, dangerous and not very helpful in most situations for some time at least.
But then again, this is all stuff I'd consider for a more serious, grounded game of D&D. This series has certainly set itself as entertainment-focused, so really, I have nothing against it here.
AlluMan96 Yeah, I normally wouldn't allow it, but this seems like a "fuck it, why not" on Chris' part. They did successfully subdue an owlbear, so it seems like it was just a moment of funny that kept being funny.
AlluMan96 I agree. This seemed like a moment I'm very frequently having where something my players do is just so funny in context, I just say fuck it and let it happen.

I wouldn't be against the idea inherently. Just that I wanna make sure my players earn the right to be stupid. I don't wanna just give my players an Owlbear, because I don't wanna spoil them. Accomplishments only mean anything through adversity, so while I'm fine with a player wanting to tame an Owlbear, they need to work for that right. As compensation, I'd make the achievement a reward and say this Owlbear is cooler than others and maybe give it a little extra buff, because by the time it'd be tamed, an Owlbear to the party would be otherwise worthless.
AlluMan96 Oh, yeah. I feel like, because this owlbear isn't actually tamed, it'll attack Strix at some point anyways.
as a player i roamed off befriend a creature not even profficent in animal handling, ran into a phasespider by luck of rolls end up just taming it with ease, this Warforged drunk monk with phase spider fun times

It's got an intelligence of 6, is considered a celestial, understands one language of the paladin's choosing, and can communicate with the paladin telepathically if they're within 1 mile of each other.
She's not overselling it at all.

How awesome it would be if these stories would intertwine with Aquisition Inc. Something goes very wrong with the dolly and Strahd is pissed!!! Strahd and the other Legendary Vamp from Guantlgrim team up or something....oh the possibilities :)

The other vampire isn't entirely legendary. It's an old friend who became a vampire so it's a bit if a tragedy. Though even here they said he was dead and gone.

It is canon. It was in a graphic novel called "Neverwinter Tales". (At least I'm pretty sure that was the title.)

Interesting how the party always tells everyone they meet all about what they are doing including everything they should be keeping secret. I hate to say it but the party doesn't get bit in the ass by betrayal near enough for how naïve they act.

Evelyn is awesome though. And yes, she said last season that Evelyn was a vegetarian, although I'm assuming that kind of went out the window after she hunted and ate a goat while in wolf form.

He's not giving Drizzt a Jewish accent, he's giving Drizzt the same accent as R.A. Salvatore, who has a Boston accent.
Also R.A. Salvatore himself said that people can pronounce Drizzt however they want, it's not that big of a deal. It's literally a name he essentially rattled off without even enunciating it properly on a total whim because someone called him saying they need a name, race, and class for another character in the Icewind Dale trilogy and gave him 0 time to think about it.
