      Any person sho spent a few years of schooling in southern India knows about this already, in addition to knowing about northern Indian kings.
      This is unknown mainly to northern Indians, especially to chauvinistic HindiVaalaas (हिन्दी वाले) whose schooling system thought that it was below their dignity to learn about any history of India that did not originate in northern India.

      You have two separate points.
      Regarding the first one-when I criticised the Hindiwallahs, I was very much including the persons who created the syllabus.
      The syllabi in Hindiwallah-land's schools is determined by Hindiwallah members of the schooling systems' boards-so YES, the Hindiwallahs are at fault.
      Also, do not conveniently forget the "Madrasi" taunt that Hindiwallahs used to very commonly throw at people from southern India, due to their willful ignorance and their self-assumed sense of superiority.
      BIMARU-land guys trying to mock the progressive southern regions of India is a joke beyond irony!
      Your second point ("they weren't taught _any other_ Indian empires except of the invaders like Mughals, Lodis, Tughlaqs etc etc.") is a falsehood propagated by the Hindi-Hindu-Hindustan brigade.
      *I am SURE you know that in Hindiwallah-lands,( schools students were *VERY WELL taught about the Mauryas, the Guptas, the Rajputs, the Marathas, etc.,* and NOT MERELY about invaders like the Mughals, the Lodis,, Tughlaqs etc etc.

      @@TruthSpeaker2000 I am just going state out points about Chola Kingdom and you are free to come to conclusion :
      Cholas are one of the three prominent kingdoms mentioned in Sangam literature. Sangam literature are dated around 300 BC ( Gajabahu I timeline and literary researches. Looks like Keeladi, Porunthal excavation will move timeline by at least 200 years earlier )
      Silappathikaram ( dated around 2 AD ) explains about the three Tamil kingdoms and their fights with other language rulers. Chola is one of the three.
      Kallanai ( Stone Dam, still used in TN ) was built by Karikal cholan around 2 AD.
      Ashokan pillar ( 270 BC ) mentions about cholas.
      Medieval Cholas ( Raja Raja, Rajendra, etc ) built great temples ( Thanjavur Big Temple, etc ) and always used Tamil. ( Raja Raja Chola I found and brought back Tamil Hymns Thevaram from Chidambaram Temple in 10th Century. )
      Tamil inscriptions are found everywhere in Chola Kingdom including Tirupati. They didn’t used any other language. Tamil inscriptions from Chola era are found in abroad too.
      The oldest Telugu inscription is by Telugu Chodas carved around 500 AD. Origin of Telugu chodas are not clear. But, we know Cholas had matrimonial relationship with other kingdoms and those kingdoms used Chola name. ( Puri Jagannath temple is built by Anantavarman Chodaganga. Here Choda is because his mom is a chola princess. Chalukya Chola are another branch of Chola family ) Or may be governors of chola kingdom.
      Only Vijayanagara and subsequent Nayak rulers used Telugu in TN officially as their mother tongue is Telugu. This is only after 15th century. ( Mighty Chola Kingdom lost its prominence by 13th century itself )
      Cholas are Tamils because, they are part of Tamil tradition since time immemorial, they ruled Tamil land, they have used Tamil as their official language ( and never used any other language ) in copper plates, stone inscriptions, etc.

    I spent 20 years in Hindi belt. Their knowledge about History and Geography of South India as negligible. Probably giving special status to Hindi shut their doors to know more about South and North East part of India. Better late than never.

      First get rid of the prejudices. In northern India every average student, who is preparing for even the 4th grade jobs memorize Chol kingdom by heart, each and every detail. In ancient Indian history paper none can think of passing exam without the thorough knowledge of The Chol, Cher, Pandya, Pallav culture and local administrative systems. There are some College and universities where ancient India is not a paper only there students lack the knowledge of Cholas but that's also about its details, because at primary school level they have had a basic knowledge of the Cholas and other southern dynasty. We memorize revising the chapters again and again because its not easy to pick up Tamil names and vocabulary, but we still do. For sometimes, thanks to internet, we in the north getting more and more aware of the cultures of our continent as a whole, and feel proud of it, whether it be Chola Pandya Hoysalas or Rajputs Or Marathas or the Pal and Sen of the Bengal or the Ahoms of Northeast. Also not to forget, liberal and conservative Southerners, that people in the north are inundated with the entire history of Sultans and mughals than allowing us to read more our own culture and history. But, now the ball is into your court-- Tell us, what do you know about the Rajputs, the North-east Indian history, the imperial Mauryas, Imperial Guptas, Harshwardhan, the Marathas???? Pls answer 🙏🙏🙏 Not to forget the great Vijaynagar Empire, we the Northerners are highly proud of it and pick up all Telugu words for learning about it.

    Even about Mauryas, Ahoms, Guptas, Southern Yadavas, Pallavas, Pandyas etc. along with Ay Kingdom and Koli Dynasty in addition to the Kalingas and their descendants "The Gajapati Kings" - *We know next to NOTHING* . Thanks to the burning of our ancient Libraries and the final standing Jaffna Library in Sri Lanka - *Almost all our records of our History has gone into the water.* Blood boils to think we even allowed these invaders and colonials to do all the damage.

    • @Roal36
      @Roal36 2 года назад +2

      Actually it is the colonialists who uncovered a lot of our history. Ashoka was forgotten for nearly 2000 years till his story was uncovered by Europeans when they came to India. Ask any India 300 years back if he know Ashoka, the answer is a resounding no. Pandas, Pallava, Ahoms are well known however always.

    Cholas,Cheras,Pallavas,Pandyas all great kingdoms of ancient Tamil nadu.Their had their influence over the entire Indian Ocean.Thats why still Tamil is spoken in Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka.

    • @tamobiswas6083
      @tamobiswas6083 2 года назад

      Tamil is spoken in Sri lanka due to Brits transporting Tamil tea farmers in the north coast of Ceylon.
      Tamil isn't spoken in Malaysia - it's bahasa maleyu. The amount of Tamil spoken in those places today is due to emigration of tamils in modern day.
      But bahasa ( bhasa ) is a Sanskrit word. Malaysians and Indonesian have sanskritized names, not Tamil names like sukarno, suharto, megawati sukarnoputri etc. Singapore name itself is a Sanskrit name 'singapura'. Not a Tamil name. Early cholas spread Sanskrit but not Tamil on those places although Tamil was spoken domestically. Don't know why. But that's the case

The trade has not only helped in economic development but also led to greater socio-cultural assimilation of the whole region.
