CALEB, thank you. I was 13k in debt, these videos helped me learn and acknowledge my faults and want better for myself. Dave Ramsay created a cookie-cutter program that everyone can do with the intent of not only helping people, but also monetizing it. Caleb does a much more personal 1on1 approach where he focuses on helping one person at a time, and utilizes youtube to showcase it to people. You're both debt busting rockstars!!! I've been debt-free for 4 years and it feels great. It took about six months to stop having anxiety/panic about incoming first of the month bills and mortgage payment. It takes time to retrain the brain. But it's so worth it. Rock on!
@@kfitz192 I got an honest question as someone who never had debt (except for student loan which is paid and has good roi). Did you never get trained by your parents or learned basics of interest in school? I learned the most about finances from my parents and self studies.
Man college sucked for me because I worked ALL the time and almost never ate out unless it was paid for by a presenter at the college lol. I bought one dress during that time as well but I graduated with no debt and savings in the bank and these videos make me SO grateful for that. I didn’t even know how valuable that would be for my future self.
I was so grateful I did night school while working in the day. I did office admin certificates as I went in my 20's, paid cash up-front and kept working full-time in the day. I've done this twice, but have never had a student loan and it really helped my time-management and work-life balance skills.
You guys are absolute beasts!! I was lazy in college and ended with 26k in loans. Hustled for 3 years to pay them off and made the last payment when my daughter was a newborn in 2021. You guys took the harder in the short term, waaaay easier in the long term approach and that's impressive 🎉
@@jjharrison4099 It was scary making that last huge payment when my baby was sooo little and it was close to 10k. But so worth it, that monthly payment was just holding our family back 😤

good on you, certifications is a good way to go, get entry into IT at the service desk, pick up some cisco certs and move into network admin you can easily be at around 100k a year after a few years experience. Caleb is bang on the money for cybersecurity, as that is where the industry is heading, i would have picked up a cert in that too and shifted towards security but I got pregnant and decided on taking some time off career to bring up my baby.

Honestly it was so confusing, I’ve watched him explain it twice and I still don’t get it. It’s like an envelope method that’s been sent through a blender
I switched to Mint Mobile last year -- one of my best financial-saving decisions. I have the exact plan I have before and went from $85 a month to $15. I pay $180 a year, all at once, and thus far I've not had to purchase more data monthly. That was a game changer and glad you're advertising it, Caleb. It was super easy to switch.
I've been on yearly plans for year in Australia. Anywhere from 14 AUD to 20 AUD a month. I get discounted plans and either have the agent apply the Sim credit to my account or port out and back in to show myself as a new customer (technically it's for new accounts). Don't have to think about it for 1 year.
Honestly mint is so amazing, the service throttles sometimes but definitely still worth the savings. I went from like 75 a month to 20 (also paid yearly)
Idk how people insist on using it the price when ur about to checkout is absurd, I used it in the beggining of it but got turned off by its total price
I’ve been thinking about that!! I’m 26 and I NEVER get food delivered, but I live in a populated area so I don’t know if that helps. When I see someone on here spending so much on DoorDash I’m like… why?!?! It’s not quicker or cheaper!
Yes on food delivery and eating out in general, meals at home cost on average $1.50 a plate for my family(yes I do the math lol). Me being stay at home saves so much on food and child care! And not dragging our finances down with student loans and car payments
You were exactly what he needed at this point in time. Not letting him make excuses for his behaviour and go off on tangents. Great episode Caleb, and good luck to Carl!
In the UK if you are desperate for a quick meal you go to the store and buy a ready meal for £2. It's so much cheaper than a takeaway and quicker. Even a £5 fancy ready meal is cheaper!
@@MercurySmith- So meal prep then. Or if you're that extremely tired just slam a sandwich, those things take less than a minute to make. If there's a will there's a way brother.
@@viktorepifanov7138Eh if I get something under $3.50 at the gas station or taco bell it is comparable to what I would've spent on the groceries for one meal. Plus if you eat something before grocery shopping you'll spend less at the grocery store on bullshit like snacks. If you have an addiction to fast food its different. But just looking at money alone the cheapest meal possible at a lot of fast food places (like the mcchicken & mcdouble 2 for $3) is close to what it costs to cook at home. Occasional fast food won't break your total food budget if you actually meal prep less and get less groceries, like anticipate Wed/Thurs I work 12s. I know I won't want to cook so I'll go ahead and only prep for 5 dinners this week.

Wow. This channel is something I never knew I needed. I’ve binged almost all your vids in the last week, I’m so hooked. I’m in a fortunate financial situation but you’ve got me to create a budget. Seeing how I should really be allocating my funds has been eye-opening. Congrats on the INSANE channel growth, you deserve it.

These videos make me SO glad I had financially savvy parents. My dad told me "once you get into debt your life is pretty much over and you'll die penniless so don't do it" and I never did.
Right! My dad said never get a credit card! Never had one and only spent money I actually had. Easy peasy. I had a school loan until my dad found out that a nearby hospital would forgive my loan if I work there after graduating. I am very thankful for the path my parents encouraged.
it’s a coin toss. my parents taught me nothing about personal finance, credit cards, loans, anything financial at all. I had to figure everything out myself. Have 2 cc’s no missed payments or carried balances. I do have school loans tho but all i can do is keep going and learn from my mistakes.
Also, a word about the crunchyroll membership, if you're planning to cancel your crunchyroll membership, remember to call their desk since cancelling crunchyroll doesn't entirely get you off the hook - they're known to still charge you even after you pressed the cancel button on their page since they still have your info. When I started watching this channel I though ‘this person has to be the minority.’ Several months later……..I no longer think that. Thank you, Caleb, for providing a service to your subjects and viewers that should honestly be required education in high school/ every level of college.
One of the biggest issues of overspending and the lack of budgeting responsibly comes down to how much “convenience” expenses add up. They are conveniences that people in these dire financial situations just can’t afford.
Caleb, because of your super practical perspective & advice, I'll be paying off my first card this coming month, paying off my next card in June, and aggressively attacking the final one right after. Once these are done I plan to open a retirement account (about 8 years late, but better than 8 years from now) and I am feeling so positive about the future. Thank you for all you do.
Caleb, I am probably the opposite of an expert (20 y.o. living at home for college with his parents who are both accountants) but these videos really help me on my commute everyday, because instead of flipping out with road rage, I can flip out on 6% interest on student loans 😅 Thanks for helping so many people, having this knowledge will certainly help me out once I move out on my own. Take it easy, Mr. Hammer!
I've been a graphic designer for almost 10 years now. So this hits a little close to home for me. I was paid like shit for the first 3-4 years of my career but I've been at my current company for the last couple of years and more than doubled my salary. Graphic Design and 3D work isn't anything close to a "niche' thing, if you have a good portfolio you can do really well. Design is competitive as hell but if he's as good as he says he can easily find a better job and move on up the ladder.
Man, i am about 1200 in the hole not including my small car loan and some student loans that I have and this channel has made me cut my maxed out CC and I have started the snowball payoff method (lol i am only 20 so it's not a lot but it feels like a lot.) Great content Caleb, also crazy to see how fast you are growing!
Finding your channel is gonna save me. Watching you roast ppl in my situation, even though mine isnt as bad its really opened my eyes and gave me the kick in the butt i needed to get myself out of debt.
I want to thank Caleb, I paid off my credit card. I had enough in savings to do so and still have a decent emergency fund. You saved me $500 in interest because I was going to slowly pay the credit off this year. Pretty much, I just did it and thank you.
I'm so happy that you mentioned Mint Mobile!! I've been with them for about a year. $180 for an entire year vs getting destroyed for NO reason by Verizon? AND a Christmas card from Ryan Reynolds? Can't beat it. 🥳
I found this channel a month ago and I've been addicted ever since- I'm 28 and am currently working towards buying my first home and saving for retirement. I do save almost every month, but it isn't as consistent as it could be, when I could and should be saving more- so thanks to this channel I've created an actual clear budget, and I'm going to stick to it to hit my goals. Thanks for everything you do Caleb (and thanks to your guests for laying their finances bare too) - here's to us all working towards a great financial future! All the best from the UK!
I think this guy has the potential to get out of this massive debt, he just needs to axe his spending and make lifestyle changes that he seems open to doing. He really seems receptive to calebs suggestions and has the desire to learn more and fix his situation. Looking forward to coming back and visiting his situation again soon!!
I loved the section where he gave a life story about why the groceries weren't enough. Caleb was just sitting there like, "Uhhhhh...... I'm not following how this pertains to food on the table." 20 or so seconds of pure confusion on how that story was going to circle back. Lmao
Struggled with food addiction for years, to the point where I spent my emergency fund on it and was spending my last dollars on McDonald’s when I had bills due the next day. I’m very thankful I’m young and never got into credit cards or debt. Watching your videos and seeing other people dealing with spending too much on fast food has made me feel less alone and ashamed and feel more hopeful about saving money. Thank you.
This guy’s girlfriend is living with him while he’s still paying an ex-wife and for eHarmony?? That relationship has to be a month old! Wow, this guy makes really poor choices!
This channel has made me start budgeting. Just paid off my Discover card, and today (Payday), paid nearly 50% of the balance on my Citi Card. After those are finished up, I'll move on to my 2 big credit cards, Amazon and Best Buy. Next year is going to be a great year lol
I love this channel, man! I'm actually in a good spot financially, but these audits have really encouraged me to make some better financial choices. I cut my spending on food by over 150 dollars this month and Im in the process of negotiating my insurance and internet bills to save even more. Youre doing great work for everyone involved and I bet you hit 1m subs by the end of the year.
Watching your videos have helped me so much! I am a full time college student, which i used to think meant being in debt was a given. Im taking my finances into my own hands and learning to be financially responsible within my budget!
I've always said I'm awful at math but good lord this dude is blowing me away with not just pausing and taking a minute to run some numbers. Seemingly everything he does only hurts his situation more and unable to learn from the constant mistakes. Also have been a designer for 10+ years and totally true if you have a good portfolio of work I could care less about your education but I will certainly have a pause if I hear you have a design degree but its from a diploma mill and not even a BFA. Being a competent designer and 3D modeler is not niche at all either. It should actually open up a lot more opportunities. His work must be not strong at all because I'm baffled.
yes, i thought it was strange too. My sis works in graphic design and earns waaaay more, she doesn't have a degree, she just did a short course to get the basic skills and just kinda polished her work through experience. But these days she contracts out rather then a steady job, it pays significantly more.
Spending cash not triggering the pain response with younger people is a really interesting point. Now that I think about it I am the exact same way. Spending cash doesn’t bother me one bit because it’s never included in my net worth. Basically feels like free money.
This is how I feel. If my budget is $10, spending on my card I'm stingy and really thinking about that expense. If I have $10 cash, I think "ooh, I get to spend $10!"
Yeah I've been thinking the same way recently. I don't like doing "bullshit spending" unless I have physical cash, then I treat bills as a free meal ticket 😂
I feel the same way 😂 Apple Pay is my bestie. But yh I budget pretty well through my online banking apps and have really high discipline when it come to credit cards etc but cash just feels like Monopoly money? 😂😂 I lose it so easily and it’s hard to keep track of. I feel like this is a huge switch from my parent’s generation who were far more irresponsible with credit cards and card spending.
Yeah, I always try to pay as much as possible with my card, because anything paid with cash is kind of meaningless to me. The moment I get it out of the ATM it’s already „paid“ for, because it’s already gone from my account. I think the big difference is whether or not you actively monitor your accounts. If you look at the bank statement only once a month or don’t even bother at all, I can see how spending with a card can be quite easy to lose track off.
Just starting this video but as a graphic designer myself with a degree in it, he could be making SO much more in a design position. I make almost double with like 7 years of experience (I'll be turning 27 in a few months so I'm assuming we have the same experience level.) I know I could even be making more, but I'm just comfy in my current job lol He just has to keep looking! There's also so many insane paying remote design roles right now. His skillset with 3D is super valuable and I think he's really underselling himself!!
@Brianna Boyer dude sounds like he gives up easily. Motivation is lacking. He could still be looking for another job while in his current job if he wanted it enough
There's something really disordered about this person, beyond his messy money situation. The career flip flops are a red flag. Especially leaving one desk career to work 'with his hands'...only to immediately end up doing the exact same desk career again...only to accrue debts for certifications...and justifying at least some of the career moves by invoking a pay ceiling. If he had stayed in the career as a graphic designer, he would have gotten much further along financially...
Probably the fact that he doesn’t listen to anybody other than himself speak. Any advice to this guy goes in one ear and out the other while he thinks of the next tangent he’s about to go on
Thank you for doing this Caleb. You’re not only helping people who are struggling with debt but you’re also spreading an incredible amount of awareness to other people about how important it is to save money and have a good budget.
I’ve been enjoying this financial audit series. I think even if you don’t owe any debt, there’s a lot of value. If you can develop the kind of mindset that Caleb promotes, you can really set yourself up for future success.
This is the first YT channel in almost. 2-3 years since the huge financial stock boom that isn’t a rip off of selling courses. I’ve been binge listening to these for days just learning so much about to how move smarter at 24.
Love love love this show. I'm working through all the videos slowly and am learning so much Thank you, Caleb. My only minor gripe is the graphic on the budget breakdown. I wish the category labels aligned with the categories on the donut chart 😅
Time to see how Jonah Hill is doing in his life I guess. Edit - Man this guy's story is similar to mine. Massive private student loans, out of school making just enough to keep my head above water. Took until my mid 30's to pay it off, after I had gotten a few raises at my job. Go to public schools! Don't take massive private student loans! They should be illegal, 18 year olds are too dumb to make choices like that.
I'm so glad I finally started making overnight oats. It is so cheap, and my daughter loves it. 1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup milk, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, cinnamon (1 teaspoon) and honey (1 tablespoon) to taste... so good! I would cut that recipe in half if you want to add fruit.
I think AT&T was for better connectivity in the Austin area and still being 50 bucks or so cheaper. But I agree if you are climbing out of debt get Mint yesterday.
We had mint for a couple years. Was decent enough but t-mobile towers are kinda meh near us. Recently switched to visible, which is Verizon towers, and got a promo for $15/month for a year. The coverage seems to be a bit better for our area. Helps that I wfh so I'm on wifi probably 95% of the time

Here in Italy I have never heard of credit card debt / car debt/ lesases… the most financial burden some of my friends have is a mortgage. This channel has really given me a different perspective on how finances are dealt with outside of the EU
You've seen nothing yet. Here in Brazil people get in so much credit card debt that banks will give them the option of paying for the debt in INSTALLMENTS. That means, say you weren't able to pay the April bill, you could split that bill in like 6 months. That means you'll be paying for the April bill until October, on top of all the other monthly bills. It's absolutely crazy
@@nightshadesylvdebit cards. Ppl in europe dont like to spend imaginary money they dont have. System in america is set up with credit cards as pretty much the main paying instrument so it can pander to the loan sharking banks and to get you to pay interest rates on pretty much everything they can get that hooked on. In europe, you spend and youre limited by the money in your checking account + most usually banks in europe give you an allowed minus for the amount of your two monthly paychecks, that is if you are employed of course if youre unemployed you dont get an allowed minus. Additional thing is car payments, car financing has become popular in europe only like in the last 6-7 years, most europeans even today go for used cars and they buy from private sellers rather than used car dealerships. Additional reason for that may be that ppl in europe tend to care for their cars(the majority od them anyways). Hope i cleared it up for you. Personally as an european from an even poorer country than Italy hearing these stories of debt is simply mindblowing. And in my mind its the system you have over there that is actually set up to do that do siphon as much money as it can. CALEB, thank you. I was 13k in debt, these videos helped me learn and acknowledge my faults and want better for myself. Exactly. He had $42K in graphic design and went down going the estimator route. Strange.
@@reginayfavors It seems like he gave up too quickly on the graphic design route.
@@0x037 That is exactly what I was thinking about because he made more there, especially considering he loved it, than with the estimator job. Then reassess income potential.
Found this Channel like a week ago and can’t stop watching. Caleb is like a more relatable Dave Ramsey for millennials
Hopefully he’s not as sexist, arrogant, and corrupt as him
Dave Ramsay created a cookie-cutter program that everyone can do with the intent of not only helping people, but also monetizing it. Caleb does a much more personal 1on1 approach where he focuses on helping one person at a time, and utilizes youtube to showcase it to people. This works better for younger people, Dave works better for people in 40s and 50s that are at the tail end of the grinder.
@@mithicash1444 I do like Dave Ramsey and have learned a lot from him, but I think what Caleb does works better for most people. Dave still knows what he's talking about though on a lot of things(not everything tho)
Gen X here, I tried to get into Dave Ramsey but I found him dry and condescending. Caleb is relatable, he's brutally honest but he also shows empathy.
Caleb I'm 19 and this channel has literally scared me into getting sober been smoking everyday for almost 7 years now. Recently I was spending 500 a month or more. Thank you my guy for making ne make an actual effort to change

I'm stunned by how much people spend on food delivery services in your videos. It seems like it's crippling a generation of people in multiple ways.
Dopamine, instant gratification with no effort.
Idk how people insist on using it the price when ur about to checkout is absurd, I used it in the beggining of it but got turned off by its total price
I bought a little motorcycle (scooter style) and go and buy my own food.

In the UK if you are desperate for a quick meal you go to the store and buy a ready meal for £2. It's so much cheaper than a takeaway and quicker. Even a £5 fancy ready meal is cheaper!
Ehh. I work 12 hours on midnights. People don’t always have the time & energy to cook

Thanks for helping so many people, having this knowledge will certainly help me out once I move out on my own.

Holy cow, I am exhausted from listening to this guy taking the long road to answer Caleb’s questions.
I can’t thank you enough for these videos man. I am learning so much and getting entertained at the same time.
That’s what I thought but I’m not in that field. He just kinda gave up assuming he couldn’t find better pay 😒
Yeah, if he has an average portfolio he can make 60k easy in any metro area... So I have questions.
Edit: Full Sail... So no portfolio. Sigh.

I was thinking the same thing. A gym membership would have been cheaper.
What a lot people forgot in this situation this can actually one from childhood and this why his behaviour is very all over the place !
Probably the fact that he doesn’t listen to anybody other than himself speak. Any advice to this guy goes in one ear and out the other while he thinks of the next tangent he’s about to go on

Finally Caleb mentions Mint mobile!! He told someone to switch to AT&T the other day and I was like Nooo Mint is way cheaper 😂
I think AT&T was for better connectivity in the Austin area and still being 50 bucks or so cheaper. But I agree if you are climbing out of debt get Mint yesterday.
I just wish Mint supported my smart watch.
We had mint for a couple years. Was decent enough but t-mobile towers are kinda meh near us. Recently switched to visible, which is Verizon towers, and got a promo for $15/month for a year. The coverage seems to be a bit better for our area. Helps that I wfh so I'm on wifi probably 95% of the time
I respect the people coming on here. I love coming here on payday and helps me manage my money even better each time! Sacrificing things to only for a little bit to create a better debt free life is the way too go! Or you will be in struggling for life. Bless everyone reading this and hope you reach your goals 🙌🏼🙏🏼💪🏼
This show is addictive to watch lol
Thanks!
@@CalebHammer Wow you read my comment. Thank you for being awesome and bringing more fun to my everyday life with good content. ^_^
This man has a story for every single question. Damn.
The common theme with the people on this show in how they spend their money is either FOMO, YOLO, or ignorance is bliss 😅
Here in Italy I have never heard of credit card debt / car debt/ lesases… the most financial burden some of my friends have is a mortgage. This channel has really given me a different perspective on how finances are dealt with outside of the EU
Do people just pay everything in cash up there?
You can ridicule us for our social democracies and what not but unbridled capitalism is very much under control here unlike the US.
Caleb leaning his face into the mic and saying "oohh nooo" after learning of the smaller debts. 😂
Caleb’s ramble into the “guess what!?” And then slapping the statement to the table, took me out!! 😂😂😂 He’s built for this haha! I’m obsessed and I’m definitely on stage “binge-watch”.
Mint helped me budget but YNAB even with the $99 yearly really opened my eyes to what my money is doing. Caleb not sure if you used it before, but it could help so many people as well.
That's why Caleb's channel continues to grow. He really listens to us. Love that he incorporated a criteria system and breakdown for the Hammer Financial Score
I'm going to school for construction management! I'm doing estimating for an internship. The industry pays really well but it's kind of a thing to go out for lunch every day and stop at the gas station 3x a day😂 I was spending half my check because I wanted to fit it. Sounds so stupid looking back on it
Caleb you’re growing so fast. I put all my homies on you. I am 22 graduating college this may credit score already extremely close to 800, starting a job in banking, 12k in savings. I would love to come on your show to show that you can do it early!
His system was stressing me out. If he puts a good plan together he’ll be in good shape
