    I was grafting a few years ago round that area doing an industrial coil transport, gaffa advised we stop off at this little gem of a place for a kebab wrap for dinner. Can’t believe I’ve found this video mate, the food was absolutely unreal, best kebab wrap we’d ever had hands down. Father and son are really nice and down to earth aswell, would recommend anyone who is round that way to pop in and try the food. You can’t beat little family run places like this❤

    Another heart warming review from the best food reviewer on RUclips. Keeping it real, as always. What a delightful place. That naan looks 10/10, not like the standard bangladeshi owned curry house naan's that are nearly always too dense. Onwards and upwards TFT

    There used to be a place in the West End (probably either Stanhope Street or West Road), that had a simple menu of a couple of curries, seekh kebabs, rice, samosas and salad etc just like this.
    I only ever went there once in the mid to late 1990s and it was the best food I ever had. I've been trying to find out for ages now what it was called and where exactly it was, but from what I see and hear in your videos, it would have been just your sort of place. Really old school halal restaurant.
    If TFT or anyone reading this can suggest what that place was called, that would be much appreciated. It's not Ayesha's Sweet House, as it had seating inside, but it was very similar to Ayesha's and this place.

    • @MsSheenam
      @MsSheenam Месяц назад +2

      Ayeshas was the only one on Stanhope street.
      On west rd, Mumtaj was the original, which has been covered on the channel. Then came Madina grill and Spicemaster.
      I think it’s Mumtaj you’re talking about 😊

    • @christopherlogan9315
      @christopherlogan9315 Месяц назад +1

      @@MsSheenam Hi there, thank you for that information. I don't think it was any of the places above, but it was very similar to Mumtaj, with a little bit more seating.
      It was 1997 or 1998 when my dad took me there and I seem to remember it being very brown in colour on the interior.
      I'm not 100% sure which road it was on, so perhaps it could have been Westgate Road, Westmoreland Road, or perhaps somewhere else in Elswick or Benwell.
      I know it was many many years ago, but if you can think of anywhere else it could possibly be, I would be so grateful if you could let me know. :-)

    • @MsSheenam
      @MsSheenam Месяц назад +2

      @ the only other ones were on Westmorland Rd, Afghans which the brothers now run Naz, there was a takeaway in the middle where spice of Punjab is now, used to have benches, but the owner Ali, sold up and went to Bradford, he made the best kebabs, we used to get chicken tikka masala on a fresh Nan bread with donner. They are the best, it may be the one you’re thinking of

    • @christopherlogan9315
      @christopherlogan9315 Месяц назад +1

      @@MsSheenam Yes, that could well be the one. It was a very long time ago now and I was only about 13 or 14 at the time, so it's all a bit of a blur. I just remember it being so delicious.
