It's never been about if Tekken is grounded or not, it's about HOW much it is and in what way. I'm tired of this argument "bro we had bears n stuff". The bears are still physically fighting characters, and they were like a small quirky part of the game. Juggling is still essentially an overexaggerated fist-fighting mechanic. The more fiery and laser stuff added, the more the game will have to up the ante in the future as to not make its characters look underpowered. It desensitizes players to the spectacle and slowly takes over in an attempt to make it look more epic. Just look at the tone compared to the PS1 era - cataclysms, wars, etc., but less "street fighting" moments. Devils and animals were special because they were an oddity. That said, I have no problem with Clive if they keep the percentage of such stuff in the game in check.
also what did these ppl have to say when they put heihachi on should caliber 2. difference is soul cal players didn't care they love stuff like this and guest characters like Yoda and darth vader. tekken players need to pipe down they never let anyone have fun. also tekken players legit got mad when they put characters like negan akuma and geace howard from KOF. and those characters were martial arts and if you still complaining about fire balls in tekken. learn how to side step it's legit just two buttons
No, a lot of people were making fun of Yoda in Darth Vader in SCIV back in the day. Heihachi was accepted in SC2 because 1 he was barely a guest character since Yoshimitsu is also originally from Tekken and they were the same developers of both games, plus everyone always wished they had the GC version for Link instead. Also, another aspect is that SCIV was the beginning of SC being a "casual-first" series, which is why the series completely committed suicide afterwards and never recovered. SC4 was the beginning of the end with critical edge, the ridiculous anime clone characters and the custom characters being more popular than the original cast. People can see that Tekken is becoming just another anime fighter, and there probably isn't a better example than Noctis, Clive, and the backlash that Lucky Chloe got way back when. So if Tekken continues on this anything goes, crazy anime fighter path that SC4 also took, then we will likely see the same result.
Material arts are what you have access too, incluidng swords or magic Claudio and kaz in are probably just as flashy(claudio actually just doing a anime fighter dp), only difference i see is that he uses multible elements so he stands out alot more imo

Well you have a point there. a very good one. but one thing that i have to kinda explain a bit to kinda clarify why we feel like Tekken is headed to the wrong direction is that, Though Tekken isn't a traditional martial art game, but we actually love its settle it looks. yes there are some special effects, some electrics, some sparks when others do special moves, but at the end of the day it still looks settle. compared to how maybe Street Fighter looks or Dragon Ball fighter. Those kinda games can be classified as nerdy games, which is not a problem. which is why when Street Fighter 6 went helm with the flashy color painting effects it didn't look out of place. But for tekken we can't really appreciate such visuals. most people who do, pretty much play Street Fighter. Tekken 8 just went crazy and not gradually, that's why it feels disjointed to some of us..
I get that, truly. However, players could see with each new iteration of Tekken, that the developers are leading the game to what's currently being done now with Tekken 8; and that's the underlying vision that the community tends to tunnel vision themselves into what they think was "grounded" or "Settled" as you've said. When it was never the case. Both the story and core combat of the game was never realistic. The characters that are portrayed as simple martial artists also have their own goofy or tragic fictional stories tide to them. The only thing that has a semblance of realism is the characters portraying popularly know martial arts and techniques. Even still a portion of the characters don't utilize any real martial arts that we know. Like I've mentioned in the video. What I can agree is that Clive is very out of left field...but that's the point, he is a guest character. He's never meant to make sense in the setting of Tekken.
@delusional-lobo really solid point there, can't even disagree with you on that one. I'm guessing somewhere down the line quite a number of people will fall off Tekken. I'm basing this from what my friend once told me, he was also a huge Tekken fan since Tekken 2, and Tekken 6 was his last Tekken. His fall out was due to the inclusion of Rage art and Rage drive in Tekken 7. My life span in Tekken is the same as his, and I didn't find much issue with Tekken 7 mechanics. But he told me that I might not like what they'll do to Tekken 8. And I felt that from just seeing T8 Closed network test. And I can already feel my separation with Tekken. But I can see their vision at Namco, maybe how we used to like Tekken was holding the game back from being a major hit. Judging from the current hype and sales.
100% agree, that's the part of the game that will alienate players both new and old. It's the system that inherently makes the game so different from past games. If Tekken 9 goes further with this, even I wouldn't pick the game and just move on to something that is a lot less "scrubby" or a lot less intense with what we have now.

Also, I've already explained myself about the complaints about "groundedness" as you've stated, and the crazy stunts pulled by Clive and the Tekken cast. If you are going to throw things that I've already stated. Then learn to comprehend what's said.
@@delusional-lobo Dude, I played Lei for almost for all of online tekken. I know not to generalize and dismiss a take just because of a character, but it's like you and moonsault slayer among a few other yoshi players have some of the worst tekken takes ive ever seen XD.
Dude, Virtua Fighter is considered a grounded martial art fighting game yet we still see floats, bounds, and crazy grabs. The fact that those things happen does NOT mean it still isn't grounded.
The crazy stuff before t8 was definitely done in moderation, now it's gone haywire and I just don't understand the people dismissing the fans who notice the significant change.
@KyeCreates Virtual doesn't have angels, devils, etc. In that game, juggling isn't as greatly exaggerated as Tekken's.
Also, the direction of the game has been heading this direction since the start. Tekken players have been trying to head canon this idea that the game was always grounded.
Listen to me closely. This is going to be the best selling Tekken fighter for a long time.
Good thing this is no longer a fisticuffs game and is now a sword fighting game because I prefer swords. Rip Tekken. Ur all being forced to play soul calibur
The controversy came from players who were angry because Tifa was not chosen as a guest.. CRY ABOUT IT TIFA SIMPING
Tbh I love almost all the final fantasy games and really enjoyed 16,but Tifa definitely would have been so cool. Clive is still really great though can’t wait to see what he can do in game
There werre alot of Tekken players who wanted DMC character for me it was D.O.A
I would of liked Vergil :3
The problem is the entire tekken 8 game. Gambling as fuck, unbalanced, broken character, 50 50, oh and the damage... And also 50 50, dit i talk about 50 50? Or just heat which is dumb as fuck? Character is not the problem.
@Leksus03 the whole plus frame hit box thing yeah if you make 1 mitsake youte almost gauarenteed to to be on the backfoot.
kratos from GOW wouldnt fit either takken has it feel and vibe
Bring akuma back
Anyone bandwagoning this is a shill. Straight up. And no SoulCalibur is not DEAD. it still has people in ranked. Stop parroting sh1t.
A shill 😂
@@da_001 doesn't have people in ranked at all it's my favorite fighting game unfortunately it's dead unless you look for dedicated discord only A and S in normal rank lol
clive is about to be OD. I predict he'll be ultra safe on everything. There are so many other characters from the past tekkens that people were hoping for. He's not going to be a fun character to fight against just off of what theyve shown so far.
im just saying who tf asked for clive
true, what's weird is that the developers stated they had planned Clive for T8 since 2022, so I'm a bit confused why they didn't think of other characters besides Clive. Though I am excited for him😅
You people are going to kill this game. You’re not gaslighting me to like this shit.
You don't have to like it, no one was gaslighting u
Tekken series: Literally has humans with lightning punches, a flying mantis dude with a katana he can use as a helicopter, has devils and demons.
Morons: "tHe TrAdItIoNaL mArTiAl ArtS"
U must be a noob, comparing mishimas with clive bs. Mishmas r always balanced apart from jin but clive is bs just like victor. Easy mode bum.
When did I say anything about balance? You comprehended nothing from the video and just nitpicked a single talking point when kazuya was mentioned. Biggest smooth brain I have interacted with
There are differences between casual players and hardcore players
Your speaking facts
Clive will be another boring devil jin. These guys doesn't fight like Tekken chars, it corrodes the game
What do you mean doesnt fight like tekken chars? His just like yoshimitsu but with easy input and fast animation attack plus clive didnt need stance like yoshimitsu or the easiest i can explain is yoshimitsu but faster
@dante3723 chars of T3, that don't have commands that ranges the entire screen
@@dante3723 Try Yoshimitsu, do like Arslan Ash
@@rodrigoaraujo7323 i cant, i assume you didn't get my point
@@rodrigoaraujo7323 t3? Nword we're in t8
Personally i domt care never played FF16 mever appealed to me i prefered 15 Noctis was way better.
That's cool, that's the thing about Tekken, if the developers wishes it, they can add anyone. Of course they'll be players that won't like a certain inclusion of a character, but what I think is; is the character fun for me😊
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Tekken has always been wild and great !
