@PLC - I live in a neighborhood. Suburbs. The neighborhood is surrounded by woods. The number of cats roaming around here is quite large. So No even people living in the suburbs don t “fence” their cats. Also, I ve owned cats most of my 65 years and I don t even know how you’d “fence” a cat in. From what I have seen she rescued those cats who were probably on their way to becoming feral. Which leads to a host of diseases, probable starvation, worms, etc. She s a good cat mom and it shows in how they follow her around.
@PLC honestly, I dont get the sense she's super into them as pets, has she even given them names? I think that's fine, plenty of farms have cats to roam but of course there's always a risk with any animal that roams. I would hope that someone will at the very least get them spayed/neutered, I'm sure they had a mama and siblings that might not have been as lucky to find a "safer" place to live.

@@doloreskelly4576 - we see only 1 or 2 meals that she prepares in 1 week. She always prepares them for her videos. We have to think about the whole life she lives that she doesn’t show on video. And even if he just eats her food who cares? The only one that has to bother is Isabel!The making of the videos and all that entails is her job. His is his music. I love how very early into his arrival they seemed to make time together and also time alone to do what feeds them.

If you can get pallets - lay however many you ll need and stack your wood on them. The air will flow underneath and help keep that bottom layer from getting stuck in melting, refreezing snow and also sleet, rain. I ve been stacking my own wood for years (5-6 cords). It’s best to keep it up off the ground. That tarp will help keep the bottom layer from getting muddy but up off the ground is best. PS: I absolutely love your energy and your zest for life. Your desire to live peacefully with nature. Your videos are a bright light in this world.

We used pallets for years as well, until we finally built a wood shed.
yes we have used pallets and then stack our wood, doing it for the past 30 years. It is important to let the air flow. Lay the pallets two to three in a row, than start laying the wood, two at a time beside each other then two at right angles then repeat. you will have two rows and a full cord will be about five feet tall. then put a tarp on the top only to protect from the rain and snow. have fun

In my considered opinion, it appears that Ms. Isabelle is a complete fraud in almost every claim she makes, patreons or general subscribers, for purposes of monetizing her youtube channel. Success! With her numbers, she's doing well. She's got a good hustle going and and good for her. I'm not a hater, but I do hate the lie. IMO she's lying about her story, which is what I object to. My red-flags started rising when Ms. Paige suddenly decamped her hard work-site at the Washington site to travel to Scotland and got set-up in some sweeeeeet situation right from go! None of the timing worked to accomplish so much from so little. Plus, everything else that makes no sense now viewed in hind-sight:
- Working some (close-to) minimum-wage job in a food co-op in Wenatchee for income.
- Expensive photography equipment consisting of many many video cameras, drones, editing equipment, etc.
- The time for Isabelle (or somebody) to spend a LOT of time editing the videos, which, let's face it, are beautiful and well crafted. But is this the work-product from somebody working a food co-op job and trying to grow her own food while working many many construction projects at her Washington site...or does she hire a full-time editor?
- New work spaces, sheds, etc. being constructed. Lumber and supplies for building is pricey? Where did funds come from? Not the income from a Wenatchee food co-op source.
- Good quality power tools, battery powered and grid. That equipment isn't cheap.
- Cats cats cats. Pets get expensive. They look good for cuteness and value projecting. Hmmm
- Two air tickets to Scotland plus luggage fees. Hmmm
- Landing in a sweet (and sizable!) "cottage" to settle into for "several weeks".
- An expensive van in good-shape purchased in Scotland and completely converted....while having the time to explore much of the country. The timing, the money, the accomplishments so quickly.
- She claimed in several videos the van was purchased in a condition that was unlivable and uninhabitable, then landed in a lovely cottage for weeks while working on the van conversion. Complete lie. The finished van was purchased from John Duncan in fabulous condition. Isabelle and Logan's "three-week conversion" involved only ripping out a finished ceiling and purchasing tongue-in-groove pine board to help her weave a false "story". I am a mother for 4 daughters, I’m not oblivious to the fact that you’re on your parents land, what a blessing. You’ve mentioned it before and I don’t expect you to have to disclaimer it in every video. I have owned property and am in the processing of purchasing land again. I love that even though their relationship is new they still know how to have personal time alone apart from each other. That’s going to make for a very healthy beautiful relationship

Totally love how you grow all of your own food, harvest and then cook with it all from scratch 😊. I'm 70 now and remember my Grandparents, Uncles & Aunts and almost everyone do the same stuff you do back in the 60's and 70's. This is how things were done going back decades. Now everyone buys from a grocery store and sometimes don't even know where their food comes from. Also love those kitties 🥰.

I’m a 40 year old mother working full time away from home. My heart is in the mountains with nature, except I live in area with flat land and political tyrannical views I don’t agree with. You inspired me so much I talked to my husband and we’re quitting our jobs and selling our house in about 2 years. Moving my family to a beautiful state where my heart will be happy. I finally feel hope. For me and my kids. Thank you for your inspiration.

Sad to think that in South Africa for a woman, or anyone for that matter, to do what Isabel is able to do , is pretty much impossible without VERY VERY serious security measures in place and even then there's no guarantee you'll remain safe indefinitely.

@@savannahgrace5104 hey... well.. you know her father is a mechanical engineer guy who made his millions selling a successful company that sells children’s pillows and so on. they bought the land to run a legal cannibis farm for another company. The information is available publically. I heard about it from a guy who wrote an article about her and then I check LinkedIn myself to see if it was true.
I personally also care because it makes me angry that she lets people like you believe she saved all this money herself and does this on her own. Her life is lovely but it’s not fair to mislead people. She has a beat up car - but have you seen how expensive the tools they use are?

My place near you burned last year in the cold springs fire. To my joy, all of the grasses, sage and most of the treed survived. The wildflowers and medicine plants have come back ten fold. There was not a single Blade of grass left standing last year. It looked like the apocalypse, now only 9 months later, it looks absolutely beautiful. So don't worry, it will be ok!

As someone who lives in an area where wild fires are a very real concern; we’ve talked amoungst the household about our plans, and how we would carry them out, and we’ve also made preparations should the threat become a reality……….. though frankly; I don’t care what anyone says about my home, I really love it and don’t want to see it get burned down either. 🙂🙂🙂

We can hear the planes going up now to go fight it. 🙂 You as well. It appears it’s a crazy world we live in these days. I thank God for every day I wake up, still in more or less one piece, and more or less on the right side of the bed.
@@jaditelady173mary4 Just for an update, we did have a fire in my neighborhood on Sunday. Though fortunately my household and I were aware it was coming in enough time, and we had enough packed, and out the door by the time the fire was starting to loom over the neighbourhood. Preparedness was the key, and everyone around here knows that fires are a threat as it has been very hot and dry; so we were all planning before the fire posed a threat. 400 homes evacuated. I think we may have lost some wildlife, but I’m pretty sure everyone and their pets made it out safely. 🙂 There were minimal structures burned. Our house is just fine; and it shifted me in to gear to be even better prepared while the weather is still hot. In fact, these off grid channels I watched have just been such an inspiration; that I now have myself prepared to leave at a moment’s notice. 👍😎👋
Cats normally will stay close to the house though, whenever you travel further out they instinctively follow you because you are the leader/momma cat…❤️
My cats love running around in the yard while I hang the washing, or they “garden” with me and dig around 🥰 I’m SO happy there are now cats on this channel 😂
I can attest to this!! We leave my cat outside during the day while we are at work (we live rurally and she is fully clawed, knows how to climb trees and get back down) yet everyday when I get home shes waiting for me on the porch 😭😭

I started watching your videos last summer in 2020, and I could change my life around so much since then, and you have a part in it, too.
Now I live in the Hungarian countryside, a majestic river in our backyard, get to the point of enjoying cooking, and so much more. I have a garden, as well. Giant zucchinis, beautiful tomatos. There are 25 cats and kittens at our neighbour's, they are keep exploring our garden as if it were their own. :)

When you make your kraut do your prep chopping, salting etc, then cover it and let it sit for a while. You come back an hour later and there will be plenty of brine to cover the vegetables. You inspired me to add beets to my kraut, it’s just so beautiful.

I've seen many of your videos and while the problems in life may weigh heavily on you at times, I'd argue that most are jealous of your lifestyle, problems included. So many of us are stuck in the proverbial 9-5 glut and are thankful for channels like yours that give us hope that there's something more to life than what we have.

@PLC you are a very odd individual, once again you have suggested that animals either don't trust or like me. I wouldn’t think this was a positive judgment. There is something missing in your life, go and find it, see if you can wake up smiling for once in your life. You need to re read my original post and and let me know how you came to the assumption that animals don't like me. If you look at the extent of walking isabel doe's in the hills, for cat's to follow as apposed to dog's is unusual. Cat's are very indipendant and once fed generally do their own thing, unless you have a house cat, one which prefers the comfort of inside which some do. On the other hand dogs generally don't leave their owner's side. One thing for certain, if animals saw your approach on here they wouldn't follow you everywhere ☺

The scene of you guys picking peaches took me back to childhood memories of my uncle's peach orchard in Modesto CA. I think I was 9? It was a looong time ago, but I remember like it was yesterday, him lifting me so I could pick a big fat peach - I had to use both hands. I remember how warm it was from hanging on that tree, ripening in the sun. He took out his pocket knife and cut me a slice ...and to this day I've never smelled or tasted anything so close to heaven as that sun-warmed, perfectly ripe, sweet, juicy peach. Thanks for the memories!
My family picked Pecans and wild plums
Apples for for me in Wisconsin. We would take them home and my mom would make “toenail” apple sauce. We called it that because my mom was so frugal she cut the apples into quarters and then too close to the core and the clear covering of the apple seed. It always somehow made it through processing and would show up in final apple sauce and they looked like toenails.

The way your little cats love and trust you so much says everything I could ever need to know about you as a person. Animals always recognize goodness when they see it. My husband seems like a gruff man to some, but cats and dogs follow him everywhere too. ;-)

Using a basin/bucket for soaking + washing veggies (especially the soil covered ones) is a must - saves water and makes it reusable for a few batches. Also helps to set two stages, major soil removal and then finer cleaning in two buckets). Hope that help 🤷🏼♀️

If you turn your jar lifters upside down, you may find they work better. The bigger black wooden dowels work better as handles, while the curvy, thinner coated wire works better to grip the jars. 😁
