Andy_in_NH Im an old Marine (1973-1977) why are Grunts today obessed with POGs? It takes 3 to 4 POGs to support Grunts. And without Grunts you would not need POGs. Just wondering....by the way I was a Grunt, if I had to do over again I'd been a POG. Fresh sheets on your rack, dry feet and fresh starched Utilities everyday. I don't know Grunts today obsessed with POGs (your word). The only issue I've had with support personnel is when they didn't do their job or when they copped an attitude about who they had to support - the Grunts. Sometimes it is referred to as "Grunt envy". I was a Grunt for twenty years (0311, 0369, 0306). If I had to do it all over again I'd be a Grunt again. I didn't do it for the money. I did it for the experience of being around physically hard, mentally tough Marines who took pride in accomplishing their mission despite the challenges of terrain and weather.
When I was in the Marine Corps, the Red Patch Marines were in Beach & Port Companies. They were called something different before that. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sgt
2nd TSB Support Company, H.E. platoon, 2000-2002, just had a 20-year reunion to honor a fallen platoon mate. Great to see everyone after all that time.
Funky Fresh why is todays Marines obsessed with this POG thing? Not everyone one can be in the Infantry. Grunts, how are you going to get your ammo, chow, supplies? Old GRUNT Sgt 0311 from the 70s.
Traditionally they (we) were. I never heard the term "red patcher" until seeing this video. Be well. Roger- 2nd Shore Party Bn-2nd MarDiv-Camp Lejeune-1970.
Going on 54 on 230403, I AM glad to STILL see the Landing Support Battalion ( LSB) " Red Patchers" , MOS 0481, as I remember Them when I was both a Marine and a Soldier, from 1987 to 1998. Semper Fidelis and This We'll Defend!!🇺🇸🦅🌎⚓❤️
@@ilasas Cool. We were there at the same time. I was in Motor-T. I still keep in touch with some of the HE operators and a couple of the Motor-T operators.
a long, long time ago... in a different world far, far away.... there was Shore Party mixed in with the "Heavy Junkers"... with the nickname of " 2nd Wavers'', given by the real trigger pullers, widowmakers and heart breakers. SEMPER FI DEVILDOGS... where ever you are !
Working Party: The MOS
I was told that they wore red patches bc grunts would try to claim they're landing support instead of going to combat.
yea, that's why we needed to be distinguished.
As an 0311, I was told the same thing.

Craigery MoBitches yes anyone who is not with the shore party must clear the beach.
I love the tradition and the story behind it. Thank you Marines.
It's just a cover ... Space Shuttle Door Gunner is the real MOS.
Hands down the finest fighting force in the world. "No better friend, no worse enemy ".
0481: There's no party like a Shoreparty! 👍

I was a red patch for 6 years. Loved it! OORRAAHH!!!
0:50 the face you make when you know you're the definition of a POG
Everyone plays a part. Without them you'd have no bullets, beans, or bandages.
isn't everyone that's not a grunt the definition of a POG...
it's a joke chill
Everyone thinks they're Kyle Gott now

Good to see a flight line red patcher that actually knows the history of the red patch.
I thought they were traditionally called “shore party” and not red patchers. Either way I suppose.

As a 1345, 0481 is the most annoying god damn MOS in the Corps
In the 1960's they were in the Shore Party Battalion.. Red Patches on the right side in back of their utilitiy trousers.
Outstanding
Ah yes, the Embark Working Party
0:47 it really doesn't take all those marines to guide that equipment operator.
One person works, the others just stand around to look busy. U clearly not one of us if u dont know this 🤣
Naw.
In my platoon there was one guide, and if one was seen trying to be assistant ground guide .. the platoon would mock that person for it.
😁🤣
A good operator needs just the crew chief.
3rd LSB 86-87. Often referred us the "Linen Survey Battalion" or "Lazy Sons of B-tches"

What? That's it?
That was pretty good, but they didn't include anything about HST, or other things Red Patch do? What gives.
He was pretty much just asked what we're doing in valiant shield/ ADACG and what the red patches mean.
Anyone know if it's possible to rank up to lcpl with college hours and if so how many?
Chynna Silva thanks

It used to indicate Shore Party.
Yes Shore Party, after that Beach and Port Companies. I was in from 1973 to 1977, Semper Fi from an old Marine Sgt
They used to be called “shore party.”
The mark of a true POG.
that's pretty cool.. as a nasty grunt.
Ain't no party like shore party
So like whats with the red patch though?
Originally it was red paint and later to the patch on the leg and one on the cover... First in last out
Red Patch stood for TNT at French Creek in 1983-87. Terrorist Neutralization Team
I was a RED PATCH in the 60's Operated a K2N Crane

Yes 100% correct. Ive read where it takes 3-4 POGS to keep the Infantry Marines going. No POGs No Grunts
