Go to your gmail account and see if your mom contact is labeled mom. If not modify and after it sync it may call dear ole mom the correct way.

Nice! My kids don't have a smartphone, so i'm using use Google nest hub max, I use the call home feature in the Google home app
This was so helpful when I was setting up my google home
Awesome Video! Used to only use the home, but got myself a Lenovo Smart Display. Not only a call, but I can do video calls now, and it's also connected to a few home minis that I have. Comes with a camera shutter as well, makes me less paranoid. You should try it out!

When you say "Ok Google Hang Up", does the person on the other end hear that the trigger words?
And if a friend says out loud "OK Google, hang up." whether he can end the conversation not on his part, because this phrase will be played from the speaker and returned to the microphone
How about if the call needs to press certain numbers? Like usually happens when you call customer services to narrow down the nature of the call for.
Mute the "Ok, Google", because my assistant starts listening!

Hi Steve. When I first installed my new Google home mini app, it had the three lines at the top like you talked about. But now whenever I open the app, the three lines are not there anymore. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled the app hoping that they would reappear. So I cannot get my Google mini to make phone calls. If you could help me with this, I would really appreciate it. And, although it recognizes when I ask it to read my audiobooks, it does not recognize my playlist from Google Play Music. I could sure use help with this stuff. Thank you, in advance.

The process is the same as the iPhone but you’re right it looks different, plus android is a google product

I have a question. I just bought 3 google home mini (I also own a google pixel2) My young kids both have gmail accounts and a cell phone line (they dont have a cell phone but I use the sim card for their gps watch (same sim card as my pixel) so my question is: Is there a way for me to set something up so google remember each kids voice and phone call list so they can call me from home anytime they want with their mini?

I will as soon I get caught up. The concept is that your contact needs to be on the gmail account that your using for the home device . So you may have to export out of a device and import a csv file into google online 🤓. If your contacts are in another email account you will have to export with a computer and import into you gmail account. Mine doesn't have "calls and speaker" there is "TVs and speakers" instead.

Karan Dobaria, I looked into this and at the moment it's only the US areas that have that function,Google announced they will send updates this year to download that option for the UK so we can dial contacts through Google Home but they carnt confirm a date yet for this to happen but it will.

Hey, I got mine Tickwatch Home Mini based on Google Home, but every time i say "call someone" it just says "Sorry, can't make calls yet". I can't even see the Calls option in the options
How do you get past the call centre menu's where they ask you to select a department by number? I have tried saying the number but it doesn't work.
What device did you have set up at first because when i look for the "calls and speakers" in the menu for my Google Home MINI it isn't there...

Do I have to prompt google nest when I receive calls? If so what do I day to google? Is it just "Ok google receive call," or "Ok google pick up the phone"? I mean me making calls to people is easy, it's just receiving them is where I have a hard time

I’m not sure about your setup but it needs constant good WiFi connection or it will not work correctly.

This so misleading. I had to call google home customer service and they walked me through the process of syncing my contacts to google. If ur an iOS user u have to sync over ur contacts to a google. My experience as I couldn’t find a helpful video for this. Good luck.
Just add them to your online google email account under contracts. You can export your list from your source and import them into your account.

Thanks Steve. Just got an Android phone to work with Google Home. Any way you can you can ask Google to make a call and it just uses the phone speaker, not the Google Home speaker?
It’s because your phone has google assistance as well and it’s hearing the commands.
Thanks Steve. Yes that is the challenge. The need is to allow the speaker on the phone to be active, not Google Home. The application is for a visually impaired person that wants privacy in the call.
Hello. I just purchased a Google Home Mini and I am trying to make it so I can call people instead of businesses but it is telling me to sync my contact and does not recognize the people on my iPhone contact list. How should I go about this?

Yes, the home device only uses your phone to program the servers, after that it works solo. It will only read contacts on the gmail account that it’s setup under not your phone.

I’ve always had a dislike for doorbells & phones ringing. I would love to be able to stop my Google Mini Hub from ringing when I get a phone call. It rings sooooo loud. I will have to get rid of it if I can’t stop it.

Update: Just FYI (10 Sep 2018) instead "Calls on speaker", it's now listed as: "Voice & Video Calls" and then "Mobile Calling" to get to the edit screen.

It used to work reliably, now it doesn’t work at all. It says it’s making the call and then gives the disconnect beep. All settings are correct.
