i'm so glad that Butch enjoyed it, and equally glad that there are people still talking about Danny Phantom (Which hasn't aired a new episode for the past THIRTEEN YEARS!!)
Indeed would of been epic if in the last part you see danny's eyes turn greener then ever before he channels the wail into a focused ectoplasm blast from his hands vaporizing Jake then jake goes unwilling into the thermos. So what happened just more epic.
I love how you actually love these characters and not just created them for money that's not something you really see in creators when they make characters
It seems to be something that Nickelodeon creators often have in common. Steven Hilleberg had a passion for SpongeBob. Craig Bartlett had been clarifying aspects of Hey Arnold for years after it went off the air, and continues to do it even after having made the Jungle Movie. They really found the right class of talent around that time.
@@bamweasel nick had the best creators back in the day and didnt know what they had. Now a days cartoon creators only know how to make toy comercials and abuse staff. Too bad nick will never reach the highets they did in 2004.
Huge fan of Death Battle, and I can only imagine how weird it must be to see your own character in something you had no involvement in. *SPOILER ALERT* really thrilled that Danny won! As an older comic book fan, I've always been hesitant to dive in on newer heroes (particularly those outside DC and Marvel), but Danny Phantom was a happy exception.
Cameraman: did you know that it would impact that much damage? Butch: no we didn't think about that when we did it. We just thought it would look cool. That can actually be said for a lot of feats from anime and cartoon characters. (Like the shattering dimension feat from the broly movie)
@@ButchHartmanart You may be forgetting about a web comic made by Kuro the artist (remember him?) and the things related to that. The Webcomic is entitled "5 Years Latter" (or just 5YL for short).
You know your characters well, Butch! The instant you said "he needs to take over his body", I just said "that's EXACTLY what he's about to do". Awesome stuff!
I love how it was portrayed and i knew Danny would win. Jake would totally be the aggressor. He's brash and hot-headed. In hus show he frequently acted without thinking and would have to deal with his actions or be balanced out by his team mates. He wouldn't have believed Danny, presumably cought in the act, even if he'd tried to explain himself. Danny probably wouldn't have seen him as a threat initially until he actually was hurt. More confused than anything but i am surprised he didnt try to explain himselfm. So i like the beginning. They were surprisingly matched. I felt Jake didnt get a fair shake since his specialty is hand to hand combat, but Danny played the strategy game well. It seemed Danny was trying to pull his punches at the start. I dont think Danny would have gone for a killing blow, but this is Death Battle after all.
Jake definitely was winning in hand to hand combat actually, Danny actually rarely went in for cqc unless he was caught off guard or felt as if he had the win. Laser blasts are his bread and butter
JocofAllTrades Yes, Jake got the hand to hand combat and reflexes experiences though Danny has much more powers he can use. Also, the original most definitely phased away from his fiery death via the building just in time in order to surprise Jake from behind and the rest is history. Even if the flames did hit Danny, he endured a much more powerful fiery attack so there’s that as well.
Newgirlde Jake isn’t as hot headed as you think. Because in the episode for his Chinese family reunion (who are all dragons) he had that competition with his one cousin. And during the final one a shark lady came up wanting to talk with Jake about something and Jake saw how she was acting. His cousin right there was hot headed not Jake. Yes at first Jake was hot headed but later on in the series with the choices he had to make he became more level headed in those kinds of situations. But that only used Jake’s feats from season and mainly talked about no feats from season two which would have made this death battle more different. I am happy Danny won but I was actually rooting for Jake even though I grew up watching and loving both characters.
@Rasputin Potter You are probably saying that because of how generic this comment sounds but I'm genuinely enjoying his content. I don't earn anything from likes and I literally forgot about that comment. Anyway have a good day/night sir.
To the people I was debating with within the community tab, I'll admit I was wrong about the Ghostly Wail being the deciding factor. Death Battle even mentioned the fatigue that comes with using it so I thought the move would have more importance; however, they sort of glossed over the Ghostly Wail in the fight. Danny used it for an instant and then that was it. I was expecting him to use the Ghostly Wail with his doppelgangers in all directions or something big but things turned out differently. So, I concede defeat but I'm very happy with the outcome. I was rooting for Danny the whole time but I know Death Battle has a knack for exploiting weaknesses so I was worried.
Actually they dont focus on weakness unless they would actually play a big part. Like cable vs booster gold they mentioned that booster could run out of power a few times and it never came up in the fight cause realistically it wouldnt since his power lasts for days. Also we vs thor they glossed over her weakness cause it wasnt important, mecha godzilla vs dragon zord didnt include mecha gs weakness of battery life, and many other battles. Alot of death battles ignore a weakness cause there really is no need for it cause it would actually be a very small factor and for this fight the factor was that jake had no defences against it and danny had other ways to win anyway like possession
Ngl, I don't think DB could skew the numbers on this one. I mean, it's hard to find a character that doesn't get bodied by Invisibility, Intangiblility, and Possesion wraped up in one bundle topped off with Energy progection and Cryo Manipulation.
Well why i would like to say his fatigue is an issue you might be glossing over the fact in the finale danny who had recently regained his powers shot out a near omnidirectional one and was still in his ghost half to continue his endeavor. Even if you say he gained more power from the ghost he still had to project his most costly atk against every opponent that was there. It was definitely a large ammount. Considering ghost rays are relatively easy to shoot with most of the time no outwardly cost but heavy destruction he still blasted away all of them with his costly atk with no signs of strain afterward.
his ghostly wail should've been the finisher that vaporize Jake. it vaporized a army of animated christmas tree so it should be enough to vaporize Jake.
@@cyberwolfy37 that's my main issue-if it's enough to vaporize ghosts it would be enough to WRECK Jake and it never should've been used as a once and done thing so soon in the fight.
I like that they went with the Buff, Western Dragon Jake design for this fight, Eastern Noodle Dragon Jake didn't really mesh with the innate power fantasy of the premise... Also Butch, how mad would you be if both lost to fellow animated fantasy-protector teen Juniper Lee?
12:41 a lot of writers do that without knowing the actual science behind it. Not that that's a bad thing but it definitely makes fictional characters very OP
That definitely leads to a lot of over and under scaling in fiction. While I understand why writers do this, I also would appreciate if writers did more research before giving their characters feats. Like if the character is meant to be just human, having him smash his face through concrete walls without sustaining immediately lethal damage probably shouldn't happen.
@@TheClassicnathan mostly because that would mean that the characters would probably need to be more careful and as such the battles would be more dramatic and dificult if you know the other guy is just a normal human like me and you instead of a basically súper human (like Batman for example) But mainly is a problem for when people put them in battles (that imo, no one really cares aside for a bunch of nerds who actually give any through to this battles) because then you have a character that is supposed to have a specific power level sudenly being more powerful than a fucking nuke because of that one scene when he did something just because the writer through it was cool But yeah i understand, that shouldn't stop writers from doing what they want because as i say, no one really cares about vs battles
carso1500 but it's a cartoon though, I doubt kids expecially back during Danny Phantom's airing would have cared about realism expecially when shows like DBZ also aired on Nick
Its cool seeing a creator have so much love for a character they created. I love hearing what they think their character would react in a situation, how they would fight etc...
Experience with fighting ghosts was the difference. Danny deals non magical powers a lot; ghost powers involve telekinesis and ectoplasmic energy, which have limits. Jake deals with magical beings who have powers more grounded in common sense; its still magic but it has rules.
That's why I love Death battle. I'm so glad my boy Danny won, never doubted him for a second. I still remember coming home everyday and watching Danny Phantom every day. You literally created my childhood and I cannot be more thankful
This was my favorite Death Battle episode. And it got better when you were reacting to it. Danny Phantom is my all time favorite! How did it feel knowing that Danny was so powerful than you originally thought?
I always knew Danny was powerful, I just didn't know that he could output that much energy. These death battle guys are amazing for doing the math like that.
@Águila701 Many writers have their characters do something visually impressive without actually knowing the amount of energy required to pull off such feats in real life. I'm not knocking on the creators, mind you; pretty much every comic book, anime, video game, sci-fi, fantasy and cartoon writer ever does this. The math required to figure these things out is nuts (and boring as hell). As a result, they often don't realize just how powerful their own characters are when you actually sit down and crunch the numbers. For example, Jake blasting holes through those apartment walls doesn't sound that impressive compared to other fictional characters' feats until you do the math and realize he just casually expelled multi-tons worth of TNT in a single breath. No writer in their right mind actually does the math for every feat their character does. Not only would it be ridiculously time-consuming, but nothing kills creativity like forcing everything to fit within certain parameters. For example: "Wouldn't it be cool if the hero catches that falling stone pillar! Oh, wait. The pillar is roughly (X) tons, which is well within his established strength limit, but it's free-falling from high enough to reach terminal velocity, which according to this complex mathematical equation, means it actually equals (X * 10) tons. Darn. Guess I'll just have to rewrite that scene!" … said no fiction writer ever!
you gotta love how Butch and the animators never intended for Danny to be super powerful they just cared about how cool Danny's moves and attacks were; years later and now Butch sees his creation winning a death battle lol.
[Technically Speaking] The next in the line of succession would be Jake´s little sister (then if she dies too, back to his grandfather). -> The key point here is the (debatable) status of Danny as a "magical" creature or not.
@@adolfodef And this could be the begining of a curious crossover episode where, after clearing the misunderstanding and both feeling guilty, now is Danny's duty to help Jake to find some kind of magical artifact that can recreate a living body from the ashes of the previous one.

Indeed would of been epic if in the last part you see danny's eyes turn greener then ever before he channels the wail into a focused ectoplasm blast from his hands vaporizing Jake then jake goes unwilling into the thermos. So what happened just more epic.
Lol it was clearly specifically put there as bait for us to keep watching
Hoes mad? DISNEY MAD!!!!!
@@haydonashley1478 I think it worked.
I like that they nailed how Danny's character would react to Jake's banter.

You know your characters well, Butch! The instant you said "he needs to take over his body", I just said "that's EXACTLY what he's about to do". Awesome stuff!
I remember watching you when I was little in the Nick commercials teaching how to draw Timmy. You look great 😳
I think I have Cosmo in a 5th grade notebook, I loved those, but always struggled drawing Danny
Miles Morales tried explaining himself to Static. No dice.
Aang tried to explain himself towards Edward Elric. Fell on deaf ears.
JocofAllTrades
Yes, Jake got the hand to hand combat and reflexes experiences though Danny has much more powers he can use.
Never mind the fact that Danny gets blamed for crap he didn’t do on a fairly regular basis.
I love that he coaches Danny through the fight it's just so cool to see a creator engaging with what is essentially fan work of his character😂

@Rasputin Potter You are probably saying that because of how generic this comment sounds but I'm genuinely enjoying his content. I don't earn anything from likes and I literally forgot about that comment. Anyway have a good day/night sir.
It was obvious that Jake didn't stand a GHOST of a chance.
Only the first time I have seen this joke, and it's already over used...
@@kevinwise1997 this comment was made by a jojo fans so what did you expect

The best part of this was the creator coaching Danny and telling him to take over his body and then he did it there in sync it’s amazing great vid
So like a hockey dad
11:16 "Very Maleficent-looking dragon!"
I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that when I saw it...
Its rare but awesome to see a content creator supporting his creation in a different medium of media. Keep being awesome Hartman.
Man it really didn't take Danny long to put Jake on ice this spirited battle sure had American Dragon Fans wailing.
If Danny lost Butch would just reboot Danny and make him stronger
Lol facts
We could only hope so😭
Damnit, Jake should have been stronger then! Reboot or not we’d have more Danny!
Danny Dragon Slayer
I like that they went with the Buff, Western Dragon Jake design for this fight, Eastern Noodle Dragon Jake didn't really mesh with the innate power fantasy of the premise...
Also Butch, how mad would you be if both lost to fellow animated fantasy-protector teen Juniper Lee?
12:41 a lot of writers do that without knowing the actual science behind it. Not that that's a bad thing but it definitely makes fictional characters very OP
Jacob Segura I love that part of the video XD "No we just thought it looked cool"
ShadeSlayer1911 where's the fun in that though?
@@TheClassicnathan mostly because that would mean that the characters would probably need to be more careful and as such the battles would be more dramatic and dificult if you know the other guy is just a normal human like me and you instead of a basically súper human (like Batman for example)
But mainly is a problem for when people put them in battles (that imo, no one really cares aside for a bunch of nerds who actually give any through to this battles) because then you have a character that is supposed to have a specific power level sudenly being more powerful than a fucking nuke because of that one scene when he did something just because the writer through it was cool
But yeah i understand, that shouldn't stop writers from doing what they want because as i say, no one really cares about vs battles
carso1500 but it's a cartoon though, I doubt kids expecially back during Danny Phantom's airing would have cared about realism expecially when shows like DBZ also aired on Nick
Its cool seeing a creator have so much love for a character they created. I love hearing what they think their character would react in a situation, how they would fight etc...
I like how close it was honestly. They're fairly evenly matched. Love both cartoons!
For example:
"Wouldn't it be cool if the hero catches that falling stone pillar! Oh, wait. The pillar is roughly (X) tons, which is well within his established strength limit, but it's free-falling from high enough to reach terminal velocity, which according to this complex mathematical equation, means it actually equals (X * 10) tons. Darn. Guess I'll just have to rewrite that scene!"
… said no fiction writer ever!
