Every time I watch your videos that starts with flushing a toilet, I'm amazed at the amount of water ran at each flush. Australia must not have codes for water conservation on plumbing fixtures like the US
Apparently they are about the same amount of water. From what I found quickly, High efficiency US toilets use ~1.3 gallons (4.9 litres) while high efficiency Aus toilets use ~ 4.5-5 litres. Though older toilets will use more water.
@@Oshroth also consider that they have older toilets out there, just like we do in the USA. Those would be similar to our 3.5 or even 5 gallon flushers. IOW, 14 - 21 liters.
Those low flow flushers are a waste. Instead of 1 good flush that works a charm, a good poo requires 5 or 8 flushes. They actually increase water usage on poops.
Keep up the Great Videos, I'm an Electrician in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have my own business and I watch this for my Winding Down Time in the Evenings💡
I appreciate you taking the time to record the clearing on the drain camera as well! I'm sure that meant some extra work in editing that into the video.
If I even make it to Sydney, use a toilet and see a sink rubber plug covering a holes on the drain, I’ll know for sure Ollie was there….. I think you should have those rubber plugs with your Drain Addict Logo on them. Greetings from Dallas TX
American houses are designed differently because we don’t have a bathroom thats accessible from the backyard like that. I wonder why. I would imagine it makes your job a lot easier than over here. Well done friend!
Ok watched this episode. Here in Western Canada our drains and water lines are at lease 2 meters underground. Gets up to 40 below c and we don't want frozen lines, it does happen. Ollie, if I may call you that, you need to get a bit more organized. You do awesome work but it drives me crazy when throw tools and electric devices willy nilly (is that an Australian phrase?). Get your apprentice to clean the van and organize it for you. Bruno looks like her could use some extra cash for video games or hanging out with boys. Bruno, you do a good job on the camera. It's nice to see people's yards and creepy bugs.
Ollie and Ratty by a Block Drain. In the Entrance Way a great tray. You work from the Toilet, Camera Picture by ca 7 Metre the Block., exaktly by the Tray. Then Pressure Work with Nozzle from Garden of. Next Camera Picture Unblock the Drain. But great to displace from Drain. Paper Test! To time Drain free. 💪👍👌
Love how he wasn't sure wether we could see the sinkhole when there was a height difference of approximately 10cm, as well as a crack in the stones and an obvious decline in the path x3
Glad to hear from you @kericue2065! I don't think RUclips like me and Ratty very much lol Hope you are doing well in this crazy world getting crazier by the day 👍🐀
Great video as always Ollie.as usual you do come across some interesting situations in your travels, but remember, never fear our man Ollie is here.I’m sure customer is quite happy that your on the job.just continue doing what you do best, fixing Sydney sewer system one day at a time.be safe my friend 👍👍👍😎😎😎
When ratty is sitting on the edge of a deep pipe I really would love to see him in some kind of safety harness just incase. I think my heart would break if he ended up lost forever.
Great job of clearing the pipe! Too bad about the break, but at least they have time to schedule the repair and can use it until then. All Good 👍! (For Ollie’s end of things.)
TIM from Canada a question for Ollie… I see a lot in your country Australia you have to cut holes in the back of your toilets to access your job. Would it not be good for the manufactures of the toilet companies in your country to have some sort of access point to take on and off some sort of a plug where you can open and close it.. when you need it because they see a lot of times on your job you have to open up the bottom end of the toilets and this is also part two of my question why is it that they do not have access points to your plumbing in your housing or any plumbing that has to do with indoors this should be some sort of access point that comes off of your plumbing. Where are you can put in your powerhead again I see a lot of times you have to cut out parts of the plumbing just to access your job. It should be standard code and all plumbing where there is an access point for all plumbing but I see the sound a lot just my question also it says to do with a lot of you plumbers that are crossed the world. I know it is not mandatory, but shouldn’t it be in your.. job building to put in access points to indoor or outdoor plumbing. If you were indoors, there should be some sort of access point to get into your plumbing to clear this. Lotta times there is nothing unless you were building or replacing old plumbing and you ask your plumber to put in access points and a lot of the times they do not do this because it is not in the code, but the code should be written to put in access points in all plumbing, indoor or outdoor just another… something I have noticed thank you and I love the show..OLIE
Yes you are correct! There should be an access point for all drain junctions including toilets, but unfortunately that is not the case, maybe one day.👍👍
Wait a minute… was that a boat basin in that bathroom? 😂 That sink is so small you would have to have the size of a toddler’s hands just to clean them.

That toilet looks to be 30+ years old. Newer ones are more efficient, sometimes so frugal that they cause problems with the drains.
Those low flow flushers are a waste. Instead of 1 good flush that works a charm, a good poo requires 5 or 8 flushes. They actually increase water usage on poops.
@@jenniferwhitewolf3784 you must not be getting enough fiber and hydration 😆
Oliver, you're a true master of the trade! That vacuum technique worked like a charm 👌
👍👍
If I ever move to Sydney and want to find a good home, I'll be sure to check the back of the toilet to see if it was plugged by Ollie first!😂😂
My biggest fear, is that someday, Ratty will fall into a deep pipe, and will be lost.. Thanks again Ollie ! 😀👍
Needs a “Jesus is protecting my rat” bumper sticker
Don't say that! I would be broken hearted if Ratty was lost
Me too ! @@sherryreiss4911
Now I'm going to have nightmares.
If he falls he'll get him, he's dropped lots of things in pipes already

It gave me a sunken feeling when I saw the driveway. Glad you were able to help her Ollie.
Well done and a 👍 as always. God bless.
I appreciate you taking the time to record the clearing on the drain camera as well! I'm sure that meant some extra work in editing that into the video.
Thank you Ollie for explaining your process, thoughts, and results to us as you go forward. It certainly helps us to follow along. Great job Ollie. ❤️
That would be shedding the summer coat ready for autumn :). Ratty is a southern hemisphere drain rat.
Another Sunday treat from my man Ollie - glad to see Ratty is shedding his winter coat and getting ready for the Spring. All good 👍
Thank you Ollie for this interesting and learning video! As you know I love to look at your videos!🤗👍👍👍❤️
Morning my favourite drain man. Another tough one , but you will overcome all problems. All the best.
That was brilliant to see the water disappear in the pipe.

I think you should have those rubber plugs with your Drain Addict Logo on them.

At least it’s not under a new driveway or sidewalk. I’m glad Ratty didn’t fall in! 🐀 😅
One of thing I like most about you is how dainty you are with your hand tools. You treat them like they stole your sister's lunch money. 😂😂

Hi Ollie. Nice job. But I have never seen such a small sink in my life 😮😂 God bless and stay safe. 🙏🏻💖🇨🇦
I haven't seen a sinkhole like that in a while! Reminds me of the ones we have here in southeastern and midwestern USA.

Ever since I’ve been watching Ollie, I’ve been wondering when the rat will eventually start exploring the sewers, unfortunately not today 🤣🤣
Would have been nice to know how deep the pipe was so the plumber will have an idea. Great video

The hole drilling only seems to be needed when the bowl has been concreted in. Yes very different to your system of wax rings.
Yes you are correct! There should be an access point for all drain junctions including toilets, but unfortunately that is not the case, maybe one day.👍👍
