Yes! Love this one! - I think I should pick up some smaller squid jigs too and next time we’re out let’s take a live bait setup and see if we can get on to some kings as well 👍🏽
Reefing the squid in! Nice colour on the jig. I agree that a small one seems to nail them I used either a 1.8 or a 2.5, last time was via the boat around.south head and also near cobblers, but they were huge calamari.
I think if you have the ability to move in a boat it's probably a different game, I think if you are a bit deeper the bigger jigs may make sense. where I was there was probably 40cm of water over the weed
Taylor's Bay in mosman. BUT the key if you really want to get onto some squid is finding them. So I would recommend finding long stretches of fishable edges and popping a few casts on each patch of kelp as you go. Once you finish that area on your walk back, maybe change jig size. Change location again and keep going. I haven't been squiding in ages because it can be a bit of a punish especially if you see other fish you want to target
Hi mate coming down from Melbourne very soon to this spot hoping to catch a few squiddies! was wondering howd you get to that spot you are in right now and is it cool to fish low tide or high tide. Thinking of bringing my family along but don’t want them to get wet. Cheers
maps.app.goo.gl/ujXZWq28YBNhQgdA6 this is the spot and parking, it's a fun spot but a bit treacherous with shaded moss and oysters. If you are interested in family fun, around the corner at clifton Gardens is basically the same water but there is a jetty, and other stuff for those who don't want to fish (snorkelling/beach). Most people fish bait there and there and my friends take their kids there to catch yakkas
Really anywhere with kelp. And you just need to move till you find a patch. I was thinking clontarf would be good and the rocks seem quite easy to walk across
You need to move to find a patch of them, they move a lot and you normally find a bunch in one spot. I would generally not think an area with strong current rushing past is a would hold them so maybe a bridge like that is a bit too much for them.
I think I cut it out but you can actually see stacks of them mulling about in the same weed bed as the squid. park here and head to the water and you should be good to go goo.gl/maps/VD1LAEHZ43HVtxgw6
@@robertatie9037 I have not BUT i did get a 34cm one on a 7g slow jig.... then I ate it and it was amazing. If i was keen for a feed I would probably be more interested in specifically going for them... but I take fewer and fewer fish these days because i never bring coolers
yeah yozuri and yamashita (which are somehow the same thing but also different things at the same time) are THE only thing you really need for squids. Red and pink.
my friend who bought it for me recommended, Orange, Pink and in glow colours. you can get some reasonably priced Yamashita ones at bcf that are 1.6 -1.8 size that should be light enough to have a very slow sink rate but being light cast distance is a bit sad in the wind.
I dont have the link to a site, but you could get something very similare at BCF with 1.6-1.8 size yamashita in glow. this is very close to the jig but not sure what size it is. basically get something very small that sinks slowly. squidjigs.com.au/product/yo-zuri-auireq-sink-blmp-75mm/
so the two bigger ones were smallish size calamari (which do get massive). The others were arrow squid which dont really get that big and are apparently more tasty (and you shouldn't feel so bad about getting something so small)
Nicely done! By the way, EGI translate into "Bait Wood" in Japanese. Squid is actually "IKA". This oldest Japanese lure used to be made of wood. That's why. Just so you know.😊

once you taste shallow fried tenties, these are off the menu for bait!!
Awesome squid fishing & thanks for the tips 👍🏼
hope you got something out of it. I cant believe that a baby jig slow sinking is so enticing!

@@cballzoutdoors I've not really tried from shore, but then again, I've not scoped out many shore spots.
Thanks for the great videos and tips and thank you for testing aliexpress gear.
glad you enjoy it! and I feel like some of the name brand stuff has extortionate pricing which I cant really warrant... like $200 for a net is crazy!
impressive session
where was the area you were fishing just wondering as i have been trying to catch squid for a while and i cant

Wow thanks! Btw I know in Melbourne I have caught oysters of the rock before, I see there are oysters on the rock, edible?
@lkir9458 absolutely not in Sydney harbour☠️☠️☠️
Epic bro! Cheers for the time you went too I was wondering that. Know any spots northern beaches area of Harbor for squid?

Hey man where is this place on the habour if you don’t mind sharing, can’t seem to find it
Taylor's Bay
Do you think there are any squids at tom ugly's bridge? I've never seen anyone squiding there and I've been having no luck for multiple days :(

Is this Taylor’s bay?
Sure is! Had similar success from tailors bay all the way to middle head
Yes :)

And small/slow sinking I thinks
Are they hiding amongst the sea weeds?
That's it! They sit in or around kelp and rocks and the slow sinking lure means it floats in their face a bit longer.
anyone colour squid jigs you recommend for going down to Taylors bay as it is a local

Is night good for this place
Kindof too easy to trip and no lightning so I probably wouldn't risk it
Can you please give the link of the website which you bought the jig on?
His friend bought it back from Japan he said
@@ethanparker5082 he sure did!

Better at high or low tide?
It fishes way better for squid at high, but be ready to get wet up to your groin amd the rocks are particularly slippery so spikes won't hurt
Use them on the rock at middle head with rod holders in it on a high tide at night around 9 pm and you will be guaranteed a decent Mullaway
I FINALLY CAUGHT ONE!! on good Friday in lane cove
And the video title isn't even clickbait!

do you mind telling me where abouts this is?
Taylors Bay near Mosman. park on Iluka road to get to the walking path to the water.
