at Avaya 1616-L you must write:
mute->CRAFTCLEAR or
mute->CRAFTRESER
to make phone to default settings.

It could be,.. if you didn't know, the command "CRAFT" or "CLEAR" its basic in Avaya IP phones, so, if you say that it doesn't work, maybe you can use the command "CRAFTCLEAR" or "CRAFTRESET". Good Luck!
