Hey , is there a way reset the security pin? An employee logged out and they've lost the pin.

Hello! i have an avaya 9630 that came from an office that was already closed down. i am having issues in bringing the ip phone to factory default. i am planning to setup a web server for it to connect but i am not sure about the subnet mask. would there be a way of just performing a hard reset for this device to erase the entire settings of it?

Will this clear the password when an employee leaves the office?

If it's a vpn device, it will need to be connected to the office network before using VPN, correct ?

Hi, Is there a way to reset a 9608 that has what looks like ascii characters on it when it boots up? I just get boxes across the screen and have not been able to find a solution.
    Thanks in advance,

It has been my experience when that happens it is a firmware issue. You can try to power up the phone with PoE only removing it from the network. Even if you can’t read the screen you can usually tell when the * to program appears to get you into the menu. From there I would do a hard CLEAR. Then put your phone back on the network. Let me know how this turns out. One more tip: this usually happens when using a phone on IP Office.

CXtecTV Hi, I tried clearing the values on the phone and still no luck, this phone was on an Avaya CM system. I had to use my desk phone so that I could navigate to the desired option since none of the text is legible. Not sure what else I can try at this point shy of discarding the phone. Thank you for your suggestion I really appreciate it.
      Regards,
      Joe

Not really a true factory reset. A true factory reset will clear the 46xxsettings.txt and firmware as well. This will only clear all values configured on the phone. I am still looking to see if there is a button sequence that will clear everything.and load the original firmware so it will reload the firmware and 46xxsetting.txt file from the http server.

Hi, Avaya does not have a way of clearing out the flash, like vendors such as Polycom for instance, where you can remove the flash or factory set. For Avaya phones, it is much more simple as long as your 96xx.settingsfile matches the 46xx.settings file and the bin.file. If the phone sees the HTTP server it will upgrade or downgrade to whatever firmware is located on your HTTP server. Thanks!
