in my opinion it was SO blatantly obvious that iz*one was rigged. jo yuri going from 18 to 3? I’m sorry but there’s no way that was possible given she was getting 0 buzz and was ranking in the 20s in Korean search engines at that time. kim chaewon going from 19 to 10 despite never being in the top 12 before? lee gaeun going from 5 to 14 even thought she never left the top 8? miho going from 2 to 15 even though she was in the top 2 for weeks? shitao miu going from 10 to 18 after rivaling sakura’s numbers on korean media sites and being one of the most popular among the general Korean public? even takeuchi miyu, who had trended for weeks before the final episode and then suddenly ranks 17. I mean seriously, it’s like they were begging for people to investigate them. I like iz*one and don’t think they deserve hate for this, but I think it’s unfair that some of the girls who dreamed to debut in Korea never got the chance because mnet adjusted the votes to what they want.

I really believe that too. It was strange since they clearly showed wanting to have Japanese members in IZ*ONE but barely have any. Some people have said that the j-trainees that were put into the show where ones that had nothing to lose if they join which makes sense considering Jurina left and never came back. I heard Jurina was on hiatus due to health problems but then suddenly see she actually left. She was one of the only j-idols who had a lot to lose being one of the most popular j-idols. Whereas others didn't as I learned Hitomi wasn't as super popular when she was in AKB. She only has a small tight knit fanbase and that's it. So it was clear that the judges were going to be biased as the j-idols that went on were barely known in their own group. Sincerely no hate to the current members of IZ*ONE but there is no way some of these rankings skyrocketed up or down. I mean Chaeyeon is one of the most popular trainees, garnering fans since Sixteen, there's not way she's suddenly down at 12th. Gaeun was the biggest letdown as she was always on top since the beginning. She was a for sure member from the start but suddenly place 14th. No way. Do these staff members really think we wouldn't say anything? As much as I love all these groups and their hard work to get this far and don't deserve the hate their getting or the taken away support, I can't help but do so. One of the main things we could do to try and avoid these situations again is not support it and be vocal about it. I mean no hate to all 4 groups but I can only be vocal in the fact this is all so bad to be doing. Talent is wasted left and right. One of the main pushing reasons to change the lineup is because the current leading top 12 were what? 'Unfit of the IZ*ONE's concept'? Then change up the concept. It's not that hard. Could literally avoid all of this backlash. Again, I mean no hate. Also really loving your username and profile pic. Let's have a mature conversation about this. ^^

@@CrispChann Theoretically, I feel like PD48 was an audition for IZ*ONE, rather than a popularity contest between idols, hence the rigged rankings. In regards to the Japanese idols, which many of the popular ones were rigged and put between 15-21, I do believe Mnet wanted Japanese members in IZ*ONE. HOWEVER, I believe they didn't anticipate that so many Japanese members would popular on the show and realistically be making IZ*ONE in the non-rigged lineup. The likelihood is that the real IZ*ONE lineup had more Japanese members than Korean or it'd be half and half. I would assume; Kaeun, Chowon, Eunbi, Yena, Chaeyeon, Wonyoung, Sakura, Nako, Miu, Miyu, Miho, and Hitomi were probably along the lines of the real IZ*ONE lineup. I think Yujin and Miru just missed out but I'm not sure. It's for certain that Hyewon, Yuri, Chaewon and Minju are not in the real IZ*ONE lineup and they're all Korean. Mnet wanted to have Japanese idols in IZ*ONE but not half of the group, they wanted it to be predominantly Korean still with only a few Japanese idols as they are a Korean girl group first. As for Kaeun and Chowon rigged out, my theory is that Chaewon, Minju and Hyewon in some shape or form was replacing those two Korean members. (For me I feel like they replaced Chowon with Chaewon and Kaeun with Minju). Conceptually Kaeun and Chowon suit mature concepts and despite their popularity they were booted out because the concept of IZ*ONE being an elegant and dreamy group was pre-planned and the angelic visuals of Hyewon, Chaewon and Minju fit the concept the most (also Wonyoung who was rigged as the center).
Other things to mention, Mnet wouldn't want a Japanese center like Sakura, also if the real lineup comes out I am sure Sakura would also be the only visual of IZ*ONE since Minju and Hyewon won't be in it which again I think tarnishes their Korean-focused agenda. They probably added Yuri because the group was missing a powerhouse vocalist so that's why her rank was rigged so badly.

when i watched the final produce 48 episode i just knew the lineup was rigged. older members like miyazaki miho and lee gaeun were in the top 12 for quite some time and suddenly they dropped out... which i think is them being too ‘old or ‘mature’ for the concept that was already decided. and that chaeyeon was 12th? it was only to build suspense for the whole audience and sakura, who was literally hyperventilating at that point :/

X1 and IZ*ONE were supposed to be the main acts of MAMA 2019, there's a reason why Mnet started to mistreat the big 3 groups, specially the whole fiasco with EXO at the MAMA 2017, they wanted them out so they could push their groups more aggresively but it backfired, I don't think it was fair what they did to those kids, but disbandment was, from a company's point of view, the best option, a group with such a damaged reputation couldn't go on, and after this comeback (which was already prepared) IZ*ONE will probably go into a Hiatus as well until their contract ends, and since 2 of the big3 refuse to attend to their music shows they're gonna struggle this year

It is super obvious that PD48 basically "disqualified" the oldest members and possibly another Japanese member in exchange for the young Korean girls they wanted in the group. Sakura and Nako were already big names in Japan, the biggest of those who did well in the show. The only surprise is that they didn't boot Hitomi too as she wasn't successful in AKB48 (due to there being SO many damn members and not being a company favorite push like Sakura or Nako were) so they weren't going to get many sales from pre-existing fans from her.
I want to see them do something concrete for those they robbed of spots of even being in the group. The whole "we aren't going to even tell you who they are, but we promise to do something for their future careers" is just bullshit.
Though this is the first I heard that X1 was entirely disbanded over this. But I haven't any respect for the integrity of anyone who buys the IZ*ONE album. The money is going to the company, not the girls. Don't let them use the girls as hostages to excuse their behavior.

Yes it'll be fair to release the actual line up that was voted for by viewers but think about how it would affect the boys that aren't supposed to be in the final line up but were put in by the producers? I mean they're already mentally traumatized by all this and revealing the fact that a specific member or 2 wasn't even supposed to debut would just add salt to the wound. I feel like it's best for everyone if the real debuting group stays hidden for now.

Some toxic stans would begin trending hate hashtags like 'x member quit izone now' (remember what they did to EXO's Chen when they found out he's getting married and is having a kid?). Simply because they currently have the public's eyes on them, they've debuted and therefore are considered idols. Meanwhile those who haven't yet are still trainees and most of them are kind of anonymous/unknown.
If, for example, Kang Daniel wasn't supposed to debut he would most likely get hate and it'll hurt his career meanwhile if Kim Jaehwan was supposed to debut none of this would've hurt him necessarily. It'll only affect him because of the exposure and recognition that was stolen from him.

Thank you for this! I loved the video.
Personally I don’t think X1 should’ve been disbanded. I feel like nothing came out of that choice expect eleven broken dreams. The companies still got away with the rigging and will continue to release groups and programs as if nothing happened. The only ones disbandment will truly affect are the members - who were victims themselves. Due to their companies actions, they had to face months of public hate and criticism. They were banned from shows and CFs. Many of the members are minors so I can only imagine how much mental damage they must’ve gone through these past few months at the hands of their agencies choices.
Dispatch revealed that the members wanted to stay together and they asked the CEO if they could attend the meeting - their voice was silenced as they were denied. The Swing CEO’s father told a fan the leader tried more than twice to fight for the group. They weren’t allowed to release a goodbye song or a goodbye video. They were made to leave their dorms a week later.. Although the group were together for only six months, they had truly become a family. It’s evident all eleven boys are hurt from what has happened. If you watch Seungwoo’s first insta live, you can easily see how distraught he is. Hangyul and Dohyons first Vlive, all they did was talk about X1 and say how blessed they were to experience being in the group. During Eunsang’s, he began singing a song he used to sing when he was in X1 and suddenly stopped midway, his face dropping.. its sad. The mess was caused by adults but only the children faced the consequences

I believe it was the right choice, they would've face hate all their career, and the stigma would've followed them everywhere, "ah, there's the cheating group", fans are one thing, but the casual viewers, other group stans, and general public would've made their lifes a living hell, this decision will allow them to run from that and start all over, and it is a clear warning for future survival shows, that's the real reason why they disbanded them; they're rookies, they don't have a solid fanbase, they don't have the consessions older, bigger groups have, like Big Bang who can keep going despite several and worst scandals because they have influence and a trajectory that backs them up; X1 have none of that and they, unfortunately, were the easiest target in all this mess.
Is it fair? No, it isn't, they didn't deserve any of this.

About their public image - As a fan of X1, I’m well aware of how the public have been viewing them. At the start, during November, their image was bad and disbandment then would’ve made sense to me at that point. However as the investigation continued and it was revealed that the whole show was rigged, along with all four seasons, the public reaction towards X1 started to improve. The public image improved further when X1 were stated by the Prosecution Office to be victims and excluded from the trail as a whole on the 20th of December. I don’t think the stigma would’ve followed them at all. It was already starting to fade as 2020 began with the new information the police investigation had provided. I think, with the members wanting to remain together, they were also aware of that. Five years is also a very long time.
As for your second point, about X1 being rookies and not having a solid fan base - that’s also not true. X1 were rookies however as rookies, with just their debut album, they sold over half a million albums and were the best selling boy group rookie of 2019. I wish I could send pictures of charts on RUclips so you could see the numbers yourself ;-; With their debut show con, they filled out the whole of Gocheok Dome. They had a solid fan base despite being so young - which is odd but true. The protest mentioned in this video kind of proves that. Usually protests concerning Kpop groups only gather 30 protesters at best. The OneIt Protest for X1 gathered 1000 people. The protest was also mentioned last minute and prepared in just five days, which makes that even more amazing. Despite being disbanded for a month, X1 are still on the billboard social 50 with names like BTS, EXO, NCT etc. I’m in an X1 international support group - whenever we ask OneIts to submit a form, numbers rack up to 21K. They have a solid fan base. Maybe it’s because four members are already experienced idols with fans who went through a hard time and X1 was their big break. Either way, it’s definitely solid.

Manzana835 The way X1 were disbanded so brutally, I don’t think the members will get over that. Like I said, they can’t even hide their pain during Vlives :( They filmed a comeback during December and a reality show in November. During the hiatus, each member would always sign for fans with X1 in their autograph. A week before disbandment, they were dying their hair, getting haircut etc the things idols usually do before filming MVs. X1 truly thought they were going to go back to fans again, only for that to not happen in a ten minute agency meeting ;-; The fans didn’t get closure, we didn’t even get a goodbye video. X1 members didn’t get closure either.
As individuals, their popularity is divided. They won’t be as relevant separate as they were together. Like WannaOne - they were the biggest boy group in 2018 and their success as individuals will never match how huge they were as a group. X1 members won’t be able to experience even half of what they could’ve together and that’s another reason why I disagree - like I said, the only ones disbandment will truly affect is just the members 💔

@@morgenstern3086 it is truly a cruel decision, like I said, it's not fair, and it's not their fault, they were the easiest target, that's it. And I agree that the public opinion improved a lot as time passed and their fans have made quite impressive movements for their group. There's hope for a rebrand however since they're from different companies it's unlikely all of them will come to an agreement.
However I think I need to explain a bit more my point regarding the fandom and concessions: they do have a big fandom and were, as some may say, monster rookies, but rookies nonetheless, there's a difference between a big and a solid fanbase, for example, Super Junior have a SOLID fanbase, they will support them despite everything cause they have long time attachments and have endured many hardships and scandals, they have those sales assured; on the other hand Blackpink has a BIG fanbase, but when you compare their sales with other big3 girl groups they don't sell as much, and are not constant other than with views, everyone knows about them but poor management and a constant stream of little scandals have turned them into easy targets, many would claim to support them, but in reality their sales do not reflect their popularity, there's a similar issue with X1, people on the board can't be sure they'd sell as much as the signs say, I've signed some of them but can assure you I wouldn't buy their album (don't have money), they're too new for fans to prioritize them over older, more stable groups, and they don't have the umbrella of a big company.

@@morgenstern3086 also I'd like to repeat that I don't approve the way they proceeded with the whole thing, since it seemed rushed and unfair to exclude the members from the meetings, and if the fans manage to convince the companies to rebrand them I'll pray for their success, for God knows how much those kids have suffered cause of some greedy men. But if they ultimately stay separated I hope they get fair treatment and succeed in whatever they do.

I also feel things are going to be different with izone, music shows and brands will treat them the way they treated x1 but all we can do is support them. /: I just hope these companies cut them some slacks since the investigation is now over and the parties apologized and mentioned there would be compensation for the victims of the rigging. but idk... Just because something is rigged, doesn't mean it doesn't get good results. It wasn't fair to the people who should've been in both respective groups, but remember that these shows also end up giving the trainees a chance to be picked up by other companies to be put in groups later down the road, or become solo artists. That doesn't excuse MNet or the agencies who did this, but X1 should've been given the chance that Iz*one is getting, and that I.O.I and Wannaone received.

At the end of season two Kim Jonghyun (JR), who'd always been in the top 11 was suddenly out. I remember then being suspicious, because it seemed really weird. The excuse was that the live voters, thinking he was a shoo in, didn't vote for him and that's why he didn't get in. Right now though, I am pretty sure that he was just cut from the group. I always knew that the editing favored some trainees over others and it was rare that my favorite trainee made it to the end. I followed them though as they went to other groups and felt that the exposure they got on the show was still good for them, whether they made the final lineup or not. I also remember when Kim Mingi (Ren) was crying on the show. Ren's always so positive and cheerful that it really worried me to see him crying like that. I knew something there was wrong, but I didn't know what. That the lowest ranks weren't getting fed well disgusts me. If you can't properly support 101 trainees, then don't have that many! I am deeply upset and disappointed by this whole scandal.
I would like to know who really won because those kids that were eliminated deserve to know how much support they really got. I am certain that many of them believed that they were lacking and that's why they lost. To tell them that it wasn't their fault is important and I think they deserve that.
Disbanding the two groups is the right thing to do, even if I loved both groups and was ready to support them regardless. They got to their positions in an unfair way and if they continued then they'd be providing more money to the very people who cheated the public. I will still support the kids from those shows because they were all hard working and talented people who aren't at fault for the manipulations of higher ups. But, Mnet needs to not do shows like this again without a transparent voting system that is monitored in real time by an outside, impartial group of adjudicators.

    • @jackr1886
      @jackr1886 3 года назад

I know this is late but I was thinking about this recently. Companies like Pledis and TOP Media did something to only have one trainee in. Looking at the picture of leaked photo of JR being in the top 12, Baekho was also there two. Pledis would be losing three members of NU’EST, leaving only Ren and Aron. If we look at Produce 101, the group that has been doing best of the IOI members is WJSN, because they debuted and promote before IOI disbanded. Pledis would do this to keep the popularity of NU’EST while they would be away. If we look at the member popularity, the show did a lot for NU’EST and they got a win when they came back. It kept their hype as the group NU’EST, not being a former Wanna One group, and made Pledis more money. I think TOP Media wanted to do the same for Up10tion, but this is just my theory.
Also, I just want to point out NU’EST member popularity again. The other members are way more popular than Aron, the only one not in Produce. The others seem to be known but not really him. If the other three were in Wanna One, it would be Minhyun, Baekho, JR, and friends (Ren and Aron). Luckily now, NU’EST is an entity together like WJSN, unlike how Weki Meki can be seen. Just a thought.

Some of them are going back to their company as trainees with their head down, feeling like they aren’t good enough which can affect their mental health. X1 should stay together and the production team isn’t right though. They rigged the show especially since all the trainees to work so damn hard but they shouldn’t have disband the boys. It’s time heavy and puts idols on hold but at the same time it’s a good way to promote trainees and showcase them. Having fans vote on songs instead of members if they have trust issues is also a better strategy they could’ve taken but they didn’t know what they were doing and were shook by “Pick Me”’s popularity. They weren’t expecting it to be on the level it was and so when they got to the end they failed themselves and the kids even if no one knew. It’s a shame to have fans question all that talent.

i don’t think it would be beneficial to know who got rigged in... however I do think that knowing who should have actually won would be good. It would at least be some kind of vindication for those who were cheated as well as showing their respective companies how popular and debut worthy they are

It still dosent make sense on why they had to make a deal about this, just becouse of this controversy X1 had to disband. Why does X1 need to disband but IZ*ONE just went on a break? Just because that the votings were rigged that doesnt mean that the trainees feelings and hard work was fake. X1 didnt need to disband just because of their companies wrong doings. These boys really wanted to debut, Wanna One was one of the best groups Produce 101 had made.

What happened was just..... so unfair for everyone.
    Let me explain...
Every *real* winner from each season should had debuted, it was only fair for those people and for the people who voted for them. Yes, it was really bad and just plainly terrible, to steal the hopes from the *real* winner and to give it to other who just didn’t work enough to get it (not saying the ones who are in a group because of rigged voting don’t deserve to be in the group, everyone who is in the group deserve it, I’m trying to talk with an unbiased point of view).
I started stanning the groups AFTER they debuted, I started stanning IZ*ONE, X1 and Wanna One years (and respectively a month for X1) after their debut, that means I didn’t watch the Produce for each group. So I really didn’t know the trainees fro the produce’s because I loved each member for the actual groups. (Putting this here for you to not think I was just salty my biases or bias didn’t get to the lineup for the groups)
Does Produce really stop its transmission? Not really, I know they stopped because of the events but maybe, just maybe, they could redeem that, by maybe THIS TIME actually not messing the lineups.
Do the members of each group deserve all this hate and backlash? NO, NOT. AT. ALL. You can see in their faces they actually thought people voted for them to be there, that they could achieve their dreams, their faces were so honest and excited you cannot say they were involved with this scandal.
Is Mnet shit? Yes. (Just wanted to put an aside but close opinion too)
But still, it was Mnet’s fault, not the groups. You can’t shit on the groups when they didn’t do anything wrong.
And lastly, let’s respect their privacy too.
PD: And never please, comment maliciously on an idol, and don’t comment on their lives neither. Kang Daniel was diagnosed with depression because of this types of comments and I don’t want more tragedies to come.

I think that the members who were supposedly on X1 was shown in the beginning of the video (Jinhyuk + Jungmo + Minkyu)
Obviously Jungmo was probably switched with Minhee, Starship probably knew that Jungmo had more potentials when it comes to vocals and visuals (no hate for Minhee but i think Jungmo can do falsettos and high notes better, if you listen to ippeo ippeo some parts of Minhee are not his but the guide version's voice) so i don't think they'll send him away to X1. And Minkyu's case is probably more on CJ or Mnet, they probably dropped him, even if he had a big fanbase, same with Jinhyuk.

  • @baesvelte
    @baesvelte 4 года назад

I'm really not surprised. I mean it's show biz, it's not always going to be fair and it's most likley going to be scripted because the trainees (or contestants) might say things the show producers might not want them to say. So, they script the show so that the contestants say what the producers want them to say (I think they might also do it for the judges? idk).
Also I was reading the comments on some of these dark side of Produce 101 videos by Midnight Theories and I saw on one of them some comments said that it was confirmed that the ranks and votes were rigged. Really Mnet?? I think that's going too far. And if the idols of the groups created from Produce shows (like Wanna One, IZ*ONE, X1, I.O.I) know about the rigged rankings and votes than it must, unimaginably, hurt so much for them to know that they weren't actually supposed to be in the group.
Sorry for the long comment but if you did read it thank you.

Oh god idk butt they shouldn’t have disbanded also for some reason it is good that they disbanded
Because some of the members like jinhyuk minkyu deserved so much but for me idk if it’s okay to say because I might offend some too but some members I thought don’t deserve to debut but these two who all of us thought will debut
Anyways Woosoek could debut that was most the important happiest thing I could ever get ❤️❤️

That may be in some episodes there are trainees who joined that Fans did love more but ended up having their votes transferred to the ones the companies chose that fans did love less but ended up loving more in the latter stages... Such a shame that their chance was stolen in the end...

this is late bcs i just found the video passing on my yt home ><
i think izone & x1 members did nothing wrong and shouldn't have gone through their hiatus and disbandment. i feel kinda bad it had to happen to them but at least izone is now back on their feet and going to have another comeback^^
this may seem a bit apart but i wonder if produce had never existed. granted, the produce series bring something fresh and new to the kpop scene at that time. especially knowing that there are 101 contestant. it's really great too that we could find hidden gems on the show like chungha, who would find it hard to make it in the industry if not for her making it in produce.
but in a way, produce series also damaged the kpop industry by exposing hundreds of trainees to debut in a temporary group. ever since w1, bulk buying albums and mass streaming is even more apparent despite their songs, outfits, and album packagings were halfassed. the industry became even more competitive and groups that debuted in 2016-2017 were stunted of their growth because they didn't have much window to reel in fans (bcs most fans were drawn to the temporary w1).
now that they are no more, most of the produce winners current promoting group are not doing so well and the fans that supported the produce groups feel kinda like a fever dream. wonder what's going to happen more in the future........

    1. kind of, i didnt want disbandment but i would of liked them to have move to another company with a change of contract. which i would of gone with a rolling contract which would mean the members themselves could have some chance of organising a better chance for themselves. whether they ended up with a shorter time or a contract that went into other directions. Also if they moved to another company they could do a change of name and purchased the rights to the previous songs. which meant the hard work those boys did wouldnt go to waste and they could show their talents without the mnet shadow staining their career. and yes with public view they will always be the ones who paid for a free ride because of a few.
    2. the releasing of the actually results would cause mayhem. for many reasons one for the previous "winners" will always be "winners" and then it will become tribal with whatever group or idol that lost out "real winners" that will be cruel to these young people and they will have that tar stuck to them for the rest of any idol work. I would hope that the police release the lists to the companies and idols that took part in the shows. so the companies and idols can work together in everyones best interest. yes i will admit i would love to know but i know with any fandom it will only hurt all the people who went on those shows.

I honestly don't get why people where so made about X1 due to their short promotion and I think considering all the young members it will negatively affect them in the long run to continue voting. I do want to say all the news I have read state that for the first season only the first voting was rigged but the final wasn't. But maybe their were some updates that haven't been stated. Honestly I like the produce series because it does give trainees you might never know some spotlight but it'll be hard to make sure no other show is ever ridged again.
Lastly of course Idol School was ridged barely anyone watched it and alot of the girls couldn't sing or dance to save their lives.

  • @mus7c
    @mus7c 4 года назад +4

first off i will admit that i was never an x1 stan, but i was never an anti. personally think it might have been the better option to disband the group. even before debut and he rigging scandal news broke out, the boys and mnet were facing controversy for having to many similarities to loona and nct. although this was a somewhat small scandal -- especially in comparison to the rigging sandal -- i have no doubt that controversy would been brought back up by fans of loona and nct, and x1 antis; and you can bet the online articles by koreaboo and soompi would follow soon after. the boys don't deserve the extra criticism they would have received if they had been made to continue promoting together, it isn't fair to them.

i think it was best for x1 to disband, as much as i didn't want them to. they would've been walking around with the burdening hate and lingering feeling that some of them didn't belong there. and as much as i'm curious to find out which members were/weren't supposed to be in the group, it would bring so much unnecessary hate towards that member. i just hope that subunit will happen soon, but i will continue to support every single member.

So It's a bit late but I will answer. To your question number 1 if it is right for X1 to disband, I would say NO. As a fan, of course I would say no. But the incident is not their fault. And the higher-ups should have included X1 in their meeting wether they'll continue or not to know the group's opinion. But they haven't given a chance to do so. They've just literally debuted and then after 5 months they disbanded? Like they supposed to promote for 5 YEARS not 5 MONTHS. But some fans are still pushing for the X1 unit.
For the 2nd question, I think it's a half/half. But for me, I think it's a bad idea to release the names during that time. Because the current members could have been criticize more if it was released at that time. There's also a part of me that is still INDEED curious of who are the victims and who are the trainees that should've been in the final line-up, X1.
Well, who knows there might be a superhero that could restore all X1 members to re-debut even though some of them already debuted/came back to their respective groups. Who knows😉 I'm still hoping.
