Thanks for that takes me back in time my son and me done the whole ridge in one day and had a lovely time and a few pints in the Sheil bridge hotel lovely memories ps done the Saddle on the Sunday
Hello, Great memories, that’s what it’s all about. Glen Shiel is always a terrific area to walk with some beautiful tops. Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie
I can no longer walk far, so your films are a lovely way for me to 'walk.' Whilst I love Mark Knopfler's Local Hero music you have used on some of your films, the sound of the wind and occassional commentary it all that is required for atmosphere. Thanks for including the ordnance survey clip so I could follow your route. I enjoyed the panoramic shots with you giving the direction and naming the various landmarks and then finding them on the map. Thankyou: keep up the good work.
Chris, Many thanks for taking the time to view and I'm glad you enjoy tagging along. We're slowly getting back into gear so hopefully more to come soon. ATB, Charlie.
@@charliemccartney7055 No rush Charlie. I've still got all your back catalogue to work through! Heading up for a week near Inverness on Saturday. Can you recommend anything low level and about 2 miles maximum? Plodda Falls and Glen Affric look promising.
@@chrisfrancis4478 I don't have specific walks for that area but obviously Glen Affric is always worth a visit. Take a look at www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochness/ which has a full range of walks in this area, I'm sure you'll find something of interest. Fingers cross the weather plays the game for you.....Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Wolfgang, I agree, its stunning scenery when you get these cooler misty mornings and after gaining a bit of height your into blue sky.... superb. ATB Charlie.
Hi Alistair, It a pleasant change to walk about in the warm without getting the layers on. Not to many days like this although the little blighters were a pain even at height. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi D&L, It was great taking advantage of a settled weekend in the northwest and not having to layer up. The midges were on steroids and still managed to get us at height. Happy days when its like this.... Cheers, Charlie.
Nice to see you guys got your trip up north! I thought those midges were snow at first haha. Lovely inversion as well. What a brilliant day out. If only they were all like this! Cheers for sharing! Kris.
Hi Kris, it was certainly worth the trip with the northwest in a settled weather window. There was snow on the ground last time we visited so quite a contrast and great to warm in heat with no wind. ATB Charlie.
Excellent video, Charlie. Thanks for posting! :-) Did about half of the S Glen Shiel ridge back in 2003, not sure why I never made it to the North ridge. Clearly a big mistake!
Hi Rosa, Its hard to chose the tops in Glen Shiel with there being so many cracking hills on either side of the glen. Certainly no long walk ins with it being up all the way. Many thanks for watching. Take care. Charlie.
Great video Charlie of my nearest Munros which are visible from the trails above our house. Yes, indeed, the midges were out in force yesterday morning - I had barely a chance to get my boots on for a morning walk before I had been bitten many times. Similar day today, although a brisk wind saw them off later. :-)
Hi Ian, You stay in a cracking piece of Scotland what a joy. I have to take my hat off to anyone in the north west when there is no breeze. For some reason the midge appears to be on steroids when you get into that corner of Scotland. :) Take care, Charlie.
Hi Paul, Your spoiled for choice when Glen Shiel & Glen Affric are your playground. Terrific areas with a fare collection of munros. Take care, Charlie.
Cracking video Charlie, fantastic views. I'm heading up to Glen Shiel next week and this is one of the walks on the agenda. Don't think the weather is going to be as kind to me.
Its a great walk , but I always wonder why Carn Ghluasaid was ever made a Munro. It is only about a gentle 50 m climb from the bealach which rises to Conbhairian. There are many more deserving hills , especially in Torridon.
Hi Michael, I know what you mean but it's unlikely the measurements are wrong for it to comply as a munro. I agree there are many on tops close to the mark that are more deserving but you just go and walk these as well. Beinn Dearg in Torridon is a fine example. Take care, Charlie.
@@charliemccartney7055 Hi Charlie. I didnt mean that its not high enough to be a munro, Its just that there isnt enough height separation from the bealach between it and Conbhairian for it to feel like a separate and distinct mountain rather than just a top. More deserving hills I was thinking of in Torridon would be Sail Mhor and Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe on Beinn Eighe or Stob Coire nan Lochan on Bidean nan Bian.
@@michaelrooke2544 I certainly agree with your more deserving hills. You wouldn't get tired of walking these on their own never mind any others. Cheers, Charlie.
