I’ve been a 3DS owner since 2012, got the new 3DS xl in 2015 and still have them ever since. These last two semesters in college had me so busy, especially as a Computer Science student, which is a very tough study, I wasn’t aware of Nintendo eShop shutting down until last weekend. It broke my heart when I first learned the news. There were games I wanted to get from the shop, but I didn’t get the chance and now I never will. I never modded my 3DS before, but I’m thinking about doing it eventually. Great video, btw 😁😁😁
I love studying Computer Science. Like I said, it’s a really tough major because of the amount of commitment outside of classes, but it’s all gonna be worth it in the long run. I’m graduating with a Bachelor’s this December and I really enjoy my major. Go for it and good luck 😁😁😁
@@deangelomckersley5333I'm a Computer Science major too! I graduate next Spring! Also since your 3DS's are the ones you grew up with, I think you should get a third one to mod!
@@VinnytotheK When I first read this comment, I was confused on why I needed a third 3DS. Then I heard that not only I’m completely modifying my 3DS, but it could get “bricked” if I make the mistake of updating the console itself without updating via Luma. Thanks for letting me know. I’m definitely getting another one. Also, congrats 😁😁😁
Some quick notes..the 3DS has a max of 315 tiles...where most say it's limited to 300. One should install as many homebrew app's as possible as 3DSX to save tiles...so ideally you would have like hShop, Twilight Menu & HomeBrewBrowser as CIA installs...with stuff like FBI and such installed as 3DSX so that the app's are then launched by the HomeBrewBrowser rather than a tile that could be used by a game. I also don't recommend using the virtual console games, unless there was some sort of enhancement made to the game to be played on the 3DS...other wise just launch the game from Twilight Menu. While I was a big supporter of large storage on the Vita (2tb)...I don't feel the same way about the 3DS...where with the Vita boot times didn't differ at all...that is not the same story with the 3DS...I got a 512gb MicroSD...and it sucks. I highly suggest sticking to 128gb like what is suggested in the video...and ONLY if you are big into retro\emulation maybe pick up a 256gb MicroSD. While I haven't tried it...one may want to look into one of those R4 cards to help limit the size of your main MicroSD. That way you cold run all your retro stuff off of that. The 3DS sucks at boot time indexing...it checks every block for whether or not it contains something...so the bigger your MicroSD the slower things get, because it has more blocks to check. Also the speed of your MicroSD doesn't really matter as it's read at like 4mb a second tops. So while the Vita a fast MicroSD makes a small differance...that is NOT the case with the 3DS.
Got my first modded 3DS XL a few months ago. That's also my first nintendo console since NES. Even while 3DS consoles have absolutely pale and low-res screens there is a good chance you'll enjoy them. I cannot express how I'm happy holding my console in hands, it feels fantastic and even modern. Having two screens is just awesome. And it's really portative yeah What I personally don't like is low resolution and bad colors that I already mentioned. And honestly not all games are really enjoyable (but that's logical, everyone has different preference). Guys no doubt a lot of games are naturally childish and there is nothing to do with that After some time I refused to regret about this purchase and now I like my console. Completed several games, tried several Zelda's, started to play Pokemon Sun and still have 30+ more installed games that promise good chill and relax
I second this. Bought mine a month ago because it seems to be everything I had hoped the Nintendo switch would be. A portable device that I could play all of the old games I loved via virtual console. And n64 Zeldas. Played Ocarina of Time, then finished Oracle of Ages at last. Something I never managed to do on an emulator, and have started Oracle of seasons. Holding the console in my hands is irreplaceable. It’s not without flaws, but it has a massive library of games that suck when emulated, and there’s no other decent console that I can fit into my pocket.
I bought one because I really wanted one device for all GC, GBA, NDS, 3DS games. Soo far it has been working amazing (I have a 2DS XL). I agree the screen is not that great, 3DS XL has change of a "better" IPS screen, but even that one isn't amazing. Outside with sunlight is a big no. I enjoy the portability and lightweight of this device a lot, the battery is pretty good too!
I was going to trade in my 3ds in gamestop but I couldn't because the serial sticker fell off and gamestop wouldn't accept it (I was able to trade in all of my physical games though). I just modded it the other day and I'm in love again! I let it collect dust after I got my switch lite. 😅
I bought a 3ds that's modded with over 1500 games for $220. Since I've seen them go for $175+ I thought that was a steal. What do you think? Did I strike a deal?
@@Aluran even 2ds is above msrp now lol edit: i kinda wish i got a 3ds for portability but i have relatively big hands so the 2ds is more comfortable (and it was cheaper obviously so it was a win win)
Realistically I got mine a couple years ago off ebay might end up getting a Japanese vita but didn't have any issues (depending on how hard you look saw em for like 110-200 last week)

Can you do a video on a older 3DS baby monitor with the latest firmware?
Sorry, but these things go up to like over $200 these days and with inflations I just cant afford to spend money like that anymore.
2ds works too

Do you have a QR code for that sunshine theme?

Mario RPG on SNES emulator works absolutely fine

eBay just read the description .
eBay, to get the best price you can buy a japan model, and once modded it will be the same as a ntsc.
is there a certain way to mod a japanese 3ds to region change it?
There is but its a step beyond just settling up cfw (custom firmware) not sure how tricky it is I couldn't be assed to actually do it for mine
It very tricky but I wouldn’t do it tbh. I have one and doing it is kinda Risky
Literally changing it is not that easy. But making it perform like a normal NTSC 3DS, its not too difficult.
i own a new 3ds xl and i love it is the BEST portable ever
Love to hear it
