- Hi folks! Just a short video of my final wild camp before Christmas back in the stunning Peak District.
I planned a quiet 10k hike, taking me to Howden reservoir via the magnificent Alport Castles.
I finally find a fantastic location to hang my hammock shortly before I lost the light. I cook up some meatballs and pasta and enjoy a couple of hot brews before retiring to the comfort of my hammock.
I hope that you enjoy the video and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Thanks for all of your support guys during the last year and I hope to see you all again soon.
Cheers, J.
They have to be some of the most amazing views in the peaks by alport Castle, looks stunning, definitely a place I want to visit , hope you had a nice Christmas mate and all the best for 2022 👍 forgot to mention the food looked delicious and what a spot for a camp 🌲🌲👍
Cheers Gaz 👍. It truly is an amazing place. I thoroughly recommend a visit. Quite a few good routes to get up there too. Christmas was quiet but good. Hope that you had a good one too mate and all the very best for 2022 🏕🌲👍.
Had a wonderful hike to a great falls here today, just before tomorrow which will see me staying home preparing a nice Christmas turkey dinner for Otis and I. Lovely hike and camp indeed! Take good care now and hope you have a very Merry Christmas. Bruce and Otis
Hi Bruce. Hiking and turkey dinners sounds perfect buddy. Many thanks as always Bruce for stopping by and I hope that you and Otis have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year too. Atb, J 👍.
Nice one Jason, I would love to go peaks its a 3/4 hr drive from me in Buckinghamshire so I always get worried about going all the way there and getting turfed off by rangers..
But looks beautiful..
Hope you have a great Christmas mate and a brill new year all the best and take care 👍🏻👌🏻🎄
Cheers Sonney 👍. If you want to be left alone in the Peaks I'd head up onto Kinder plateau on the northern edge. Loads of great spots to pick from up there. You might see the odd fell runner or wild camper. Absolutely gorgeous mate. Hope that you and the family have a brilliant Christmas and a fantastic New Year too. Atb, J 🍻🎄👍
مكان رائع للرحلات البرية

Splendid spot Jason. A bit fresh but turned out well. The route in was an inspiration. That Peak District is a visual delight. I'm sure you can recommend many adventures and routes. Well, good going. All the best for the week. Mark
Thank you Mark. The Peak District, truly is a wonderful place. Spoilt for choice really for great hiking routes and wild camping locations. I hope that you are keeping well my friend and you enjoy the holidays. Atb, J 👍.
@@SandybackOutdoors A pleasure Jason - another very good outing. Yeah, I'm sure there are lots of routes etc equally as good. I'm getting on thanks.
Good view,, amazing landscape,, there are many cow,,
Thank you my friend. It is a stunning area with a large farming community of cattle and sheep. Atb, J 👍.
wow awesome adventure alone is a solo searching moment happy new year
Thank you my friend 🙏. Happy New Year to you too.
That's not a bad back garden there Jason😎. I love empty places like this, it has to be a New Years Resolution to get out and do more hiking for the sanity of it. That part where the castles are is simply stunning, a real old feel to it. Any history there as in it being occupied, like hunter gatherer? Great hike in and you cant really find a better spot to camp, even the helicopter didn't see you! Bet you enjoyed the meatballs. Cheers Jason and Happy Christmas again.
Cheers Chris 👍. Yeah, more hiking in the New Year for sure bud. Alport Castles is considered to be one of the UKs largest landslips and there are numerous theories as to what caused it. Not sure about any old settlements but apparently peregrine falcons have been known to nest up. there. The meatballs were a winner 😊. Thanks for all of your support and kind words Chris and I'll look forward to catching up with you after the festivities. Hope you have a good one mate 👍.
@@SandybackOutdoors Thanks Jason, would love to see peregrine falcons one day. Your channels a good un without the faff mate, I really love that area, think I'll head out Monday to the middle of nowhere and get some peace lol, all the best mate.
Happy New year my friend
Greetings from Belgian bushcrafter
Happy New Year Steve. I hope that 2022 is a good one for you buddy. Cheers, J 🍻 👍.
Great stuff J and a good few km under your belt. Doing it the right way 👍. None of this walk 2km n make a film pretending their on a mission lol. Too much of that shite about . You always do it the right way fella.
Have a great Christmas mate
Atb Rick n Billy
Thanks Rick 👍. That means a lot to me mate. I hope that you and the family have a great Christmas too. Cheers, J 🍻👍
Lovely lovely spot there J 👍 . Awesome looking place for a wander and camp . Drambuie and hot chocolate sounds good , might have to try that one . Dont know if you've tried sticking hand warmers in the bottom of your sleeping bag ? Might help with those chilly toes . Take care bud 👍
Hi Mark, the Peak District is a stunning area. You'd love it mate. I've got some of the reusable hand warmers that I got from Mike aka The Cheshire Wanderer. There great for the first couple of hours but I still end up waking in the night with cold feet 🥶. It never used to be a problem when I was younger, lol. I've since invested in a little pair of down boots, which are great. It's like having little sleeping bags for your feet 🔥👌. Take care pal and I'll catch up with yours over the weekend. Atb, J 👍.
@@SandybackOutdoors yes mate . Glad you've solved the cold feet problem . Yeah it looks good there . Got to get up there at least once this year . Fancy being a guide for a day or 2 🤔🤣 . Take care bud 👍
@@treksntarps Ha ha, yeah anytime mate. It would be my pleasure. Just give me a shout when you're up for it 👍
@@SandybackOutdoors Nice one you diamond. It probably wont be until spring , but that's nice of you mate . Hopefully be able to sort something. Take care J 😂👍
Idyllic location and huge bonus of no other folk around. I bet you felt recharged after that camp. Bostin Fittle too.
I got myself some German Army Arctic sleeping bag slippers off Amazon Germany - didn't cost a lot of dough and they look and feel like the real business, but yet to try them out in the field as such.
My other ace up my sleeve is an old fashioned rubber hot water bottle as it doesn't require clean drinking water, it won't burn your skin or kit like a stainless steel bottle from the fire might and the water can be recycled for reheating or dousing a fire or whatever purpose except for drinking.
I suffer from cold feet and even in the house I wear my Camel/Merino Wool mix Grandad slippers - you got to keep those digits warm Mukka. 👍
Hope you had a great Christmas Day as we have had. You can see my Christmas Eve activities at 10.00 am UK time today 26/12. 😀
Hi Robert, I always enjoy reading your comments mukka 👍. The hilltops were really quiet, which is always a bonus 😀. However I did feel that the reservoir was being patrolled during the darkness hours. Every half hour a vehicle would drive from one end to the other and park up for a while. At first I thought that I'd camped up by lovers lane but the pattern was to consistent. Food, brews and filming being sorted between visits, lol.
I'm definitely going to invest in some down boots. I still think I'm 20 in my head but my body keeps telling me different, lol.
Christmas has been a quiet affair so far but good to relax and chill out with the family 👍.
I got the notification for your shenanigans and I'll be tuning in later. Always enjoy a bit of the Moscow Wolf humour 🤪🤪.
Until then, take care mukka and I'll catch up with you later. Atb, J 👍.
@@SandybackOutdoors It is possible that some Jihadi might want to put anthrax or similar in the drinking water - you never know and what the HELO all about, that was low too.
@@RobertsBulgaria Yeah, you never know these days. The helo was really low. I'm assuming it was training as the weather was pretty mild and there wasn't many folk about. Saying that, it only takes one to go a cropper or to be taken ill on the hills.
New sub and first watch. Great set up and pitch.
I always try to hide away when camping have you found it ok in a spot so visable ,of course not many people about being a winter tuesday night too.
I'm from Leicester sounds like your from that sort of area too.
Anyway great video
Cheers
ATB
👍🍺
Hi Dave, many thanks for watching and the sub. I really do appreciate it my friend 👍. It was surprisingly busy and I did pitch up late and sort of slipped into stealth mode during the darkness hours but great fun nonetheless. I'm East Midlands based in Derbyshire but originally from the West Midlands. Many thanks again Dave. Take care and I'll check out your channel later this evening. Atb, J 👍.
@@SandybackOutdoors thanks for the reply Jason.👍🍺
Hi Jason, I'm on The Ethel Challenge and need to get up past Alport Castles up to Alport Moor. Randomly came across your channel. Really enjoyed it. I'm ex RAF (I know 🙄😂) 6 1/2 years man and boy. Are you out this year making more vlogs? New Subscriber from Stafford England. Quid Pro Quo? Look forward to going through your back catalogue.
Hi Chris, well done with the Ethel Challenge so far 👍 Great way to get out and to help keep fit at the same time. Many thanks for sub buddy, appreciated. I've got a lot of fond memories staying on RAF bases when I was younger. Happy day's indeed. I'll pop over to your channel and give you some support pal. Take care and all the best, J 👍
