Despite having some technical limitations, this game kept the spirit of the original more than the console release did.

I actually had the experience that you described! I had the first game on PSP as a kid and got the second with the expectation it would be the same as the console version… I ended up returning it the same day haha. I have gone back to it recently however as well as the DS version and while not as good as Indy 1 or Batman for DS I think it’s a good bit of fun and interesting to contrast with the other versions : )
I do find it funny though that my least favourite aspects of the console version of Indy 2 which are the levels and character roster actually end up being the main improvements in the handheld ports! If only there was a perfect blend of the two..
Also the fact that this game shipped with only 3 tracks of music, one being a constant 47 second loop is bewildering…

I used to play this version on my PS Vita, and I loved it as much as the main game
Gosh yeah this port was, weird. I will say though, I got closer to beating this one than the handheld and the only reason I didn't was because some of the required to 100% minigames were a pain to control and one level glitched to start freezing on me.
But I remember eventually beating that Island Hub level and being surprised at the ending. Idk WHAT I expected but it wasn't that.
Edit - Didn't realize the journal entries prior to levels used console cutscene images. I always thought as a kid they were hand-drawn due to the shaders used on them. Probably helps that I just...didn't make a ton of progress with the Crystal Skull on console while portable only has Crystal Skull levels.
I think most of them are still hand-drawn, actually.

4:41 this is exactly what happened to me with Lego Star Wars 3. Having played LSW 2 on the PSP, and knowing that was a very good port, I was really hyped when I found out that LSW 3 would have a PSP port. I was really disappointed that I actually couldn't build bases and exit ships in a mission on that version.

I got this game thinking it was gonna be just like my cousin's lego Indiana jones 2. But what I got instead will always be a cherished memory.
Lego Indy 1 on PSP was god tier.
Only because it's literally the console version on PSP.

Staff of kings has a psp port that's better then the wii version, if you didn't know.
I actually have been chipping away at that version here and there; I’m not currently planning to cover it on my channel, but at some point I want to cover all things Staff of Kings
I had a pirated copy of the DS version, I could not get past the part where you carry a lit torch through an invisible maze, and the torch goes out if you don't get it right. I also had the original on PS3 and it was impossible to 100% because it crashed every time you picked up one specific treasure in a specific level.
Aw man, that is a bad run of luck! I have (mostly) never run into anything game breaking with these games, though there is one technical example coming up in a future video…
@@BaneShake LIJ 2 console edition is completely under rated. It was the first lego game to have open world hubs, multiple hubs, one of only 2 lego games to have the level creator, the first to have online play features etc. Personally, I loved it, except for the vehicle levels, which I find tedious and loud. Also, it has fridge car.

Indie 2 (consoles) is my favorite Lego game. When I was a kid I was obsessed with Indiana Jones. I loved it more then star wars.

This was my second lego game I ever got as a kid (right after star wars the original trilogy on the wii) and I loved it, though the graphics look so much more rough than I remember lol, nostalgia I guess.

So you can’t actually play as your custom made characters in this version of the game?
You can in free play levels and on the rest of the island. You just can’t on the beach, where only Indy and Marion are playable

Still weird that she chose a man's name to be known for her recent crime novels (ironic given how misinformed she is about trans folk and has spread so much debunked bull) and also either didn't bother to google that name for any unfortunate implications (something most writers tend to do for character names, never mind for their own pen names) or was quite happy to use the name Robert Galbraith that is rather close to Robert Galbraith Heath, an anti-LGBTQ+ 'gay conversion' therapist. If that was totally coincidental then she's a bit of an idiot to not have checked first and if she did check and thought "no problem there" then she's arrogant and foolish (also the fact she's used her past abuse from her ex as justification for her 'men dressed as women abuse actual women' position when he wasn't trans himself). But eh, her followers attacked and doxxed my cousin who isn't trans either and tried to defame her claiming she's a "racist homophobe" when she's a lesbian herself who has protested in support of racial equality (as well as other equality protests such as Pride) and some of them even got into her personal account and shared some nude pics she had in there (of her and her fellow lesbian, hippy friends being nude in a forest) on social media without her permission which doesn't seem very pro-woman at all. Also bit odd that Rowling also showed support to Caroline Farrow, a transphobic, homophobic weirdo who liked to spend time on the forum Kiwi Farms which has been noted for pro-pedophilia and white supremacy particularly by it's owner Joshua Moon who has referred to Obama as the 'n****r in chief' and expressed hatred towards the jewish people.
