I agree, they do look pretty cool. Brides tend prefer the more perfect look, so I make sure to show everyone how to achieve the perfect look for wedding invitations. That is typically when people first get introduced to wax seals. Then they get hooked, like I did. lol Thanks for watching.
I am in the UK and just trying out wax seals. The use of a heat gun is good as it avoids getting candle soot in the wax. I have also added tint dried flowers to mine just before stamping them. I think that striving for perfect seals can sometimes make them look 'machine-made' and does not show their hand-made qualities. Our house is 300 years old and our old ownership deeds from 1730 have wax seals for six family members and none are perfect - just practical blobs of rich red wax with initials attached to beautiful red silk ribbon to hold them on the parchment! I treasure them. Thanks for your tips!
How wonderful, what a treasure! I would love to find wax seals from 1730. I haven't tried dried flowers but I have tried gold leaf flakes, that makes a beautiful seal as well.
Melting the wax in the candle holder thing takes less time and is easier than your heating tool. Once I've poured my wax, I put the next beads in to melt while I'm finishing up with the seal. By the time I'm ready to do the next seal, the wax is melted. It's a seamless factory line! My hands aren't tied up holding the wax spoon and heating tool.
Beautiful video! I’ve always been hesitant to try wax seals, but you’ve given me confidence to go for it! I especially loved seeing you show us how to correct mistakes we may run into. Super helpful!
Hi friends! I use to work for the Post Office. Write Please Hand Stamp on the envelope so it won’t go through the machine. Don’t know if it would, but why take a chance. Ps, new sub!
That’s great advice. Thanks for sharing. I am getting ready to send wedding invitations with a wax seal and I checked with my post office. They recommended adding postage for the additional ounce and having them all hand cancelled. I think they might do one or two for free but not 120. I recommend asking your local post office. It seems like each one might do things differently.
To be honest with you, melting the wax with a candle takes just about the same amount of time as with the heat gun. Maybe even a wee bit less. To really speed things up you can pour your wax unto a little square of baking parchment and transfer it to a freezer pack laid flat on the table after you remove the stamp.
That is good to know. Thanks for the suggestions. I will try that. I don't trust myself with an open flame, I have a lot of paper in my crafting space and with my luck I would start something on fire. LOL I have been stamping on a non-stick craft mat and that works great for me. I will totally try placing my craft mat on a freezer pack. What a great tip! I place my brass stamp on a freezer pack in between uses to get a clean image but not after I pour the wax. I'm excited to try your tips. Thanks for watching.
@@amysonnemann256 There is a third option - a long neck lighter. It's gas so no soot, safe to use, maybe a little slower. But a fair alternative to the heat gun, if you don't own one already. Might cause less bubbling, haven't tried it yet.
I know you mentioned using glue to stick the stamp on but what do you think about using wax again? I was thinking like a small drop and just pressing the stamp on? Do you think that would work?
Hello. When the wax is heated and the seal is stamped and cooled, the wax seal is very pliable and will not crack easily. I hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.
Hi! I love your video very informative! I just recently bought one stamp myself with the initials of my spouse and I for our wedding but when I stamp you can't really see the initials very well so I was wondering what kind of ink pens do you use or an ink pad to make the design of the stamp really stand out?
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! How exciting!! I have tried lots of different ink pens to highlight my images, I have found that the metallic Sharpie pens work really well and I can control them a little better than ink pads. It is easier when you have a very sharp tip, when the tip starts to get too round, the ink isn't as easy to control in the smaller areas of your image. I hope that helps, thanks so much for watching.
I actually tried an ink pad last week-I stamped the seal into the ink pad and then onto the wax. It smudged everywhere! Looked awful, hahah! Best to stick with Amy's suggestion, 😌
Thank you so much! I have had that one for so long I'm not exactly sure. This company has a few great options. www.etsy.com/shop/MakeYourCraft You can also search coffee wax seal stamps and find a bunch of different designs you might enjoy. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

I struggled with that for a while too. To clean my spoon, I heat the spoon after I am finished with the color I'm using and wipe it out with dry paper towels while the wax is still "wet". Be careful not to burn your fingers. I bunch up 2 - 3 paper towels so my fingers never come in contact with the hot wax or the spoon. I hope that helps.
@@amysonnemann256 Actually, I had used the candle method when I was looking for clean-up procedures, mainly looking at getting rid of the soot! With the embossing gun, things are so much easier. As you say, paper towel is the key. Thank you! :-)

I use redline adhesive. I saw some companies recently selling pre-made sticky circles just for wax seals. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm hoping too soon.
Good morning I received my wax seal kit a couple of days ago my first attempt was a disaster I had watched a few videos so I knew how to use it the problem I had was the wax stuck to my seal that was a pain trying to get it off with a tiny knife and a solution
That's not good. I hope it didn't ruin your stamp head. If that happens again, try putting your stamp in the refrigerator and let the wax harden, you should be able to peel the wax out once it is hard. Don't be afraid to let the stamp sit on the wax for longer than you think is necessary. If it's hard, the stamp should lift off easily. I hope that helps and you didn't give up. It really is fun, I promise.
One problem I have with the wax melting pot 6:37 is that when you use a tea light candle under it like designed, it leaves permanent burn marks underneath the spoon . . .
