    Is there a reason nobody uses small cookie cutters w a little Vaseline or something? I see a ton of videos where ppl cannot get the shapes how they want and I don't do this but I always think I would use a cookie cutter or something to pour into to get the shape I want. I'm assuming there's a reason it wouldn't work because surely I am not the 1st to think of this...

    I am in the UK and just trying out wax seals. The use of a heat gun is good as it avoids getting candle soot in the wax. I have also added tint dried flowers to mine just before stamping them. I think that striving for perfect seals can sometimes make them look 'machine-made' and does not show their hand-made qualities. Our house is 300 years old and our old ownership deeds from 1730 have wax seals for six family members and none are perfect - just practical blobs of rich red wax with initials attached to beautiful red silk ribbon to hold them on the parchment! I treasure them. Thanks for your tips!

    • @amysonnemann256
      @amysonnemann256 2 года назад

      That's not good. I hope it didn't ruin your stamp head. If that happens again, try putting your stamp in the refrigerator and let the wax harden, you should be able to peel the wax out once it is hard. Don't be afraid to let the stamp sit on the wax for longer than you think is necessary. If it's hard, the stamp should lift off easily. I hope that helps and you didn't give up. It really is fun, I promise.

    • @amysonnemann256
      @amysonnemann256 3 года назад

      I use Redline adhesive which is super strong. I use most of my wax seals on my handmade cards, so they are on the inside of the envelope. If I’m putting it on the outside of the envelope, I apply it directly to the envelope and have it hand cancelled at the post office.

It seems like each one might do things differently.

    I am a bit let down to be honest, thought by the intro that I'd be learning more about how to tell how many beads to use per style of stamp and per thickness/smoothness of the end result. I enjoyed your video, just didn't get the info I was looking for. PS. Really liked your manicure! :D

    • @amysonnemann256
      @amysonnemann256 3 года назад

      Thanks for watching. Sorry you didn’t get the answers you were looking for. I suggest starting with 3 beads for smaller stamps and 5 beads for larger stamps. Each stamp is a little different and there is no one right answer for all the stamps on the market but this is where I start with each new seal stamp I purchase. After I test the stamp a few times, I can decide which one I like best. I prefer thinner seals because they go through the mail better. But others like a thicker seal. It’s a personal preference that determines how many beads you use per style. You can’t go wrong by starting with 3-5 beads. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful day.

    Melting the wax in the candle holder thing takes less time and is easier than your heating tool. Once I've poured my wax, I put the next beads in to melt while I'm finishing up with the seal. By the time I'm ready to do the next seal, the wax is melted. It's a seamless factory line! My hands aren't tied up holding the wax spoon and heating tool.

    Hi! I love your video very informative! I just recently bought one stamp myself with the initials of my spouse and I for our wedding but when I stamp you can't really see the initials very well so I was wondering what kind of ink pens do you use or an ink pad to make the design of the stamp really stand out?

    • @amysonnemann256
      @amysonnemann256 3 года назад

      Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! How exciting!! I have tried lots of different ink pens to highlight my images, I have found that the metallic Sharpie pens work really well and I can control them a little better than ink pads. It is easier when you have a very sharp tip, when the tip starts to get too round, the ink isn't as easy to control in the smaller areas of your image. I hope that helps, thanks so much for watching.
