It has been speculated that Jason Isbell and his wife Amanda Shires had marital problems ever since the two unfollowed each other on social media. Jason Isbell however is now speaking out after rumors surfaced that he was having an affair with a member of his camp.

When I watched the documentary about him I felt like his wife was resentful of his talent and the way he treated her like a hired player he came off like a tortured artist who didn’t want to hear her opinion and working with your spouse is tough especially when they aren’t on the same level
When I watched the documentary Running With Our Eyes Closed I got the impression that Amanda had an alcohol problem. If that’s the case, I can completely understand why Jason would want out.
That is what is wrong with people these days if they don't know the truth, they insinuate or make up lies.
Jason is a mad genius!
Their divorce and reasons for, are for them alone to deal with without blame being thrown around by uninformed parties. Most artists in the calibre of Isbell and Shires draw deeply from personal angst and experiences and this comes out within the lyrics of their songs. Amandas last album "Hawk for the Dove" is arguably her best work to date and is full of soul searching and drama. Lots of her lyrics involve cheating, deception and heartache as does Isbells. I remember seeing a few interviews and posts pointing to her having an affair with her producer / guitarist but maybe that was just a publicity stunt or a shot across her husbands bows?...
Hate to see it, but sometimes things just run their course.
ya know what's interesting is that I was a big Isbell fan years ago (not so much now) and as soon as the first time I ever heard and saw Amanda Shires I found her to be extremely annoying. I couldn't explain it. and I'd always tell people ya know I can't put my finger on exactly why but Isbell's wife annoys the shit outta me. I'm usually vindicated in such beliefs.

Isbell is a smug, self-righteous hypocrite whose personal life continues to be a disaster. He's also one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. Much like John Lennon - who preached peace and love while betraying his first wife and all but abandoning his first-born son - it's best to separate the artist from the man in order to enjoy the art.
Leave it to Jason to virtue-signal & deflect, all at the same time … He SOMEHOW managed to trivialize something as sad & weighty as the end of his marriage, by making a political statement about “misogyny” and Nashville’s discrimination against anyone who isn’t a straight white male.
For someone who is SUCH A BRILLIANT songwriter (the best of our generation imo), he is very inauthentic in his personal life. Which hey, we all have our character defects, so I’m not judging him for his. But what is FAIR GAME is calling him a hypocrite BECAUSE Jason is himself, so publicly preachy & judgmental (eg. his comments about Morgan Wallen; Trump; Trump supporters, etc). And so ironically, a man who has such brilliant insights, seems lacking in his capacity to be self-introspective.
Shocker. The guy lost all my respect when he continued to attack Morgan Wallen for years and years. Always guys / gals who pretend to be better than all of us that end up being the real dirt bags.
I TOTALLY AGREE, “sticksandstones.” I still love his music, and regard him as the most prolific lyricist of our time. But as a human-being, he seems to be an insufferable a**hole.
And then we learn this morning that Morgan was arrested last night, so I wonder how long before Jason offers his judgmental opinion regarding that?!
@@plantmillionsofteees5676 oh he will be on Twitter within the hour. I haven’t been on social media since 2017 so I didn’t even know Morgan got arrested. But I guess he’s not a human being ? 🤦♂️
@@plantmillionsofteees5676I love his music as well. But we probably couldn’t be friends, I don’t agree with his views on anything. Watch the documentary released last year and you can see he’s an asshole. I guess it’s like they say, never meet your heroes.
I guess for those who already know about all the HATE this guy has spewed towards other artists lately, maybe those of us who have kept up with all the Wallen hate, the Opry hate, the Aldean hate, maybe we're supposed to kick him when he's down...Well no. ID't think so. He is obviously a miserable person or he wouldn't try to harm others publicly for no good reason otherwise. Maybe we should just pray for him. He's a talented but disillusioned musical artist!
He sounds like a real pos, when one also looks at his inconsideration of Justin Townes Earl's widow and child.
