Aldean's song (and most of modern country) is completely uncritical, it asks nothing of the listener and merely confirms biases already held by its target audience. Isbell asks you to sympathize with the people who are usually cast as villains, much like how Cash asked us to sympathize with prisoners or murderers. He carries on a tradition and we are lucky to have his music.
Jason aldeans not had to deal with addiction and if youre really an isbell fan you know he is an addict and i think he forgets that

Which Jason and what song are you talking about. Isbell writes the vast majority of his own stuff, unlike Aldean, has won artist of the year, song of the year(three times) and album of the year four times.
I think he’s talking about Cover Me Up, which the racist covered.

He's won 4 Grammys & numerous other awards.

I don’t listen to country music normally, but I did listen to the song to see for myself if I was offended and thought it was racist and I did not. I think anyone who sees that song is racist has to have a bit of racism in them. I’m black and I live in a small town and he’s not wrong. There’s no situation where people in a small town would allow people to be bussed in And then allow those same people to start burning their local businesses and homes and attacking their citizens. That just wouldn’t happen.

School/mass shootings is a failure of the ruling class politicians i.e. Joe Biden ect.... Not a failure of gun manufacturers. Yes there were riots, and they did burn down buildings. They blocked streets highways and prevented travel of hard working Americans who just wanted to go to and from work ect....
Thankfully I was able to avoid that because I don't ever stop for anyone in the middle of the street I run them over.

I just bought the Jason Isbell Fender Telecaster and I thought it was so cool, now I here him against Jason Aldean's "Small Town" we lived through this horrific pain of watching our City's burn for nothing, people losing everything and he stands with the lot against Jason Aldean.
