As a therapist I appreciate you mentioning foot health. I see clients who wear heels all the time and everything from their ankles and above are screwed and their feet look alien. If your feet aren’t happy everything above it won’t be.
When I started watching this channel, I didn't expect to go from basketball and retro reviews to reviewing Vans and talking about which would be the easier way to die from the elements lmao. But I'm here for it.
Vans were the only thing I wore all through high school and most of my 20s. Jordan’s just weren’t practical when I was broke and skating would shred my shoes up. Appreciate giving love to Vans!
My daily shoes are a 2-year-old pair of old-skools that I ripped the insoles out of to replace with a pair of pop-cush inserts that I had left over from a Vans pro-model pair that used to be my only pair of shoes from like 2019 to 2022. They are legitimately the comfiest shoes I’ve ever worn because of those insoles, I’ve literally worn them on days that I’ve done like 10,000 steps and had zero foot-pain the next morning. They still feel really springy and responsive even close to 5 years out from when I got them, anyone who likes Vans but can’t wear them due to foot pain should definitely look into the premium models that come with Pop-Cush or Ultra-Cush out of the box.
It's true, my friends foot doctor said we need to wear more solid sole type shoes sometimes. Too much cushion will weaken your feet, and you joints and tendons may start working too hard.
Hell yeah, Chris. I love Vans. My favorite Vans silhouette is the Era, specifically the black with the white outsole. It’s so simply but pairs with anything. The fact that there are some cool designs on them too are just an added bonus.
Vans makes great stuff. They’ve been consistent but they keep doing new things like this too. I’ve been enjoying my Vans EVDNT and MTE-1 ultrarange a bunch.
we know Chris also loves skate shoes so this shouldn't be a surprise, he even mention in some of his videos that he is favoring a more neutral cushion for casual use. i watched Ed Stafford use dirt and sand as sunscreen, also i think you can find more resources in a desert.
Until I lost them in a recent move, my Sperry Topsiders (dark brown) were my most worn shoe. Can slip on, without socks, and they go with almost anything I wear.
I haven’t owned a pair of Vans since junior high school, but it’s nice to see you giving them some love and exposure. My daily pair/most worn are the Jordan 1 low Shadow golf, and before that it was the Jordan 1 low Royal Blue. They become more tolerable to wear once broken into. Also, I’ve replaced the insoles with the Lunarlon insoles that used to come with the Nike SB’s and Converse Chuck Taylor from 2013.
my go-to everyday are my vans as well, love 'em!! i can do a lot of walking back and forth on fairly slick concrete floors at work every day and so the tread and grip is nice too i never feel like i lose my footing
He’s right about how fast vans will wear once you start skating. Overall great shoe for skateboarding but that’s been their kryptonite in the past. I’ve had a few pairs that’s were more durable than expected like the tnt 5, and some sk8 hi I got on sale from a foot locker
$5 80s Nike low-cut Blazers when I was 10 years old, size 7. Wore them nearly two years until the upper sole had holes. Those days, I wore out sneakers every several months, so those pairs were my GOAT most worn kicks.
I find this funny because I buy a lot of Jordans and Air Max's now, but my favorite shoe of all time is actually my Converse "no time to lace" in the navy blue canvas colorway. It has the same puffy tongue, with a padded sockliner, the same irreplaceable insole, with the same flat brick-feeling footbed. The stock laces were made intentionally short, while the padded tongue had garter that pulls the tongue in place and my foot from flying off. I've never felt pain when walking on those, ever. They're still alive today actually, but I somehow don't use them as much anymore unless I go hit the gym, rotating with my J1 lows. So far it has a mild midsole separation at the foot fold, but the white midsole hasn't cracked at that area which is kind of a miracle. It was a gift for me when I was a Freshman. Now that I earn my own money, I don't know where to buy them anymore. Your Knu Skool reminds of those. Maybe I'll buy a pair of these for the nostalgia ig.
During the pandemic Imran Potato did a collaboration where they first brought these back. Imrans sold out fast, but the second release with a boot bottom on the sole is sitting. I just feel like giving him his flowers for being the one to bring them out the Vault. It was part of the Vault project.
1: My most worn sneaker is the free run 5.0 v2, but my most worn footwear is the adissage sandal. 2. I guess desert, cause at least I'd be attatched to land and might find my way to rescue. 3: I get the feeling if Jodi wrote a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book all the choices would lead to certain doom. 4: QOTD: puppies or kittens
Kinda expected a Vans, lol. I ve never had a pair but those Old School look great imo, and being an old head too I know there is a different kind of comfort in minimal shoes, like Chuck Taylors. Nice shoes!
Definitely curveball of the year LOL. 6:00 I definitely found this to be true with too much cushioning messing up your feet and body. I went on a quick grocery run with some Zoom Vomero 5's and they were just way too soft for me. Made me very conscious of how I walked since they felt very unstable to me, and by the end of it my legs were sore for a couple of days. Of course, this was only just 1 day of wearing them so maybe the body will eventually adjust but I just didn't feel confident even just WALKING in them LOL. Not really a question of the day (but it would be cool if WearTesters can do a deeper dive into this), but does anyone also feel like rotating through different models of shoes with different cushioning setups kinda messes up your gait? I feel like I have to readjust how I walk every time.
I'm not too surprised with you being a Cali guy. Of all my shoes, my go-to is the Air Max Dawn. The comfort is so nice! If only I could find another pair.
It's fascinating that Chris says that he used to wear like super cushioned shoes and that it started to mess with him. Between the age of 15 to 35 I've always worn skate shoes but my feet started to hurt so bad that I turned to a little more cushion from Nike and Adidas. Currently I have a pair of New Balance Rev Lite X 880v5's for walks and a pair of Saucony Shadow 6000's for more casual wear. I'm flat footed so I really need a shoe with some support in it. Just goes to show that everyone is different.
Cool video, I love my pairs of Vans, love the line, I own a few pairs of New SkoolVans and a nice pair of the Old Skool Tapestry. I actually just found a Nike shoe that performs like a pair of Vans, its the NikeSB Pogo Premium, really nice shoe. Thanks again another dope video from Weartesters!
Just bought a pair in this color way . I have a pretty wide foot, so I’m hoping the size 14 will fit properly. I just wish Vans made the black/gum color way in a size 14 because those are the ones I really wanted. I’ve also always wanted a pair of half cabs, but that’s another shoe that just straight up is way too narrow for me in the front of the shoe and they don’t make them in a size any bigger than 13. I can wear a size 13 for some of their models, but a lot of their upper class shoes they only go up to size 13 and it’s frustrating. I’ve heard my many that these Knu Skool shoes run freakish narrow in the front of the shoe. I will always love vans. I just wish they offered more of their premium model shoes in bigger sizes for old wide-footed geezers like me.
Jodi sold me on the iceberg option cause I can't really deal with these Okie summers. I had a similar foot situation recently that told me I should only wear cushioned shoes while doing an activity and I thought of Chris
i used to wear vans a lot back in the day along with some stefan janoskis from nike. i bought a pair of vans again recently and was not feeling it, sold it after like 2 wears lol. but the janoskis came back and theyre still great. these look pretty dope tho
They last forever. I never had a pair break on me. I am on the fence about them. I used to see people wearing them at the gym. I can't agree with your cushioning taste. I have worn Vans since elementary. The last pair I bought was a blackout skate Hi from a pawn shop.
my most worn sneaker is the gel kayano 14s. It's nice and wide, plush but still very stable, best of both worlds imo. As a plus, mesh sneakers are in these days!
To have a world class library of badass sneakers at your fingertips only to wear shoes that most people wear when they aren’t even into sneakers…might be the most surprising and non surprising thing at the same time.
1st. Bring on the Iceberg. 2nd. I can tell that those Vans are your favs just by seeing the dirty area on the outside of the right heel. Hardest part of sneakers to keep clean because that area rests on the dirty floorboard of your car while your foot is on the accelerator. So if you drive in them often, they are gonna get dirty right there. I don't collect shoes, I have a rotation of about 40-50 shoes and I wear them all. The pairs I wear the most are the ones I throw on quick to run to the grocery or Target : Nike Air Max Tailwinds +2 or Reebok x Distinct Life Bolton DV Bludshot (they are comfy, but mostly I wear them alot because I don't have their shoebox anymore so they are sat out on the floor). 3rd. QOTD : What shoe would you waste a Genie's wish to have re-release and what shoe would you waste a Genie's wish to have NEVER release again? ❤
I rarely wear Vans, but when I do it's been their pro models with that ultracush insole/midsole. Lately my every day sneakers have been the Jordan 38 and Ultraboost light. I wish Adidas retro'd the original energy boost, they're my favorite every day sneaker, I enjoy them more than the Ultraboost 1.0's
Seeing vans on your channel feels weird 😂😅 but when i saw the title idk why i expected that it would be a vans shoe. Maybe bec of how u reiterate how u needed “bricks” for casual wear, and i really relate to this. I really love vans so i am very happyyyy with this video. But lately, vans would give my pinky toe blisters. Maybe just need to size up coz the sweat prolly softens my toe’s skin.
I really appreciated this video because it shows that despite you having all the dope kicks that most people want, have and would wear, you can just flex with Vans today and if you wanted to flex a minute later with some crazy heat. Stay modest and cool my man.🫵🏽💪🏽 30+ year sneaker aficionado approved.
How remarkable, I have a lot of sneakers, but my good to go shoes are Vans sk8-hi MTE x Undercover, but then reworked by myself with oilpaint to give them a personal touch since I’m an artist. (Not the way custom’s regularly are done, more to give them an edge)
If there's one thing I hate more than Dreamcell insoles, its to *NEVER* wear insoles that use memory foam! That thing cramps and hurts my foot since I'm closer to the strobel/footbed! 😂
Crazy I wear vans a lot but seems like they are messing up my feet because of no cushion. My daily’s are skate-Hi’s. Need to re evaluate what type of shoes I should be wearing
That’s interesting! Didn’t expect that lol growing up I used adidas/pumas more, had a couple of vans but not many, more Jordan’s recently since I can afford them now
I think vans are some of the most classic looking sneakers. They aren’t my favorite to wear, but I love their look and history. I have to say, the sk8 high. Mickey Mouse is definitely one of my favorite pairs of shoes I own, however. Iceberg all day. Let me die in peace 😅
Chris you really surprised me with this shoe but even before saying vans I had a feeling it was an old school lol. What I’ve been beating and working in are my sk8 lows black white. My j’s are usually for going out or grocery shopping lol. But my vans though! Skateboarding, bmx riding, and work. Though I have a pair of FPinsoles in them that helps a lot for impact. Prior to those insoles I wore in the “insoles” so adding a pair of insoles only made them better. Mind you it’s the same pair I’ve had since 2021. I just use reshovn8or to spruce them up and they look brand new. Oh the skateboarding part, I only cruise as I’m 31, and don’t feel like being out of work or in the hospital cause of injury 😂
Leaving my question again, since it was ❤ed by you two... QUESTION: If you could have one shoe come back every 2-3 years with necessary interior tech/luxury improvements... What would that shoe be?
Oh, these are very reminiscent of ADIMATIC MID. Unfortunately, my knees and wide feet don't allow me to enjoy all these cool sneakers. Comfort-wise I agree that too much cushion affects your joins and ligaments, so a well broken in AJ6, AF1, Presto should be plenty as opposed to people mistaking elite running shoes for all-day comfort......I guess I learned it the hard way (it does start to affect the rest of the body)
QOTD: Shirtless in the desert. The question didn't specify I couldn't bring an umbrella. Or a tent. Or a Range Rover. I'm surprised but not at all offended that these are your most worn. But then again, my left- by-the-front-door sneaker rotation is largely about simple comfort, too. Thanks for the video! Have my like and my comment again, you already got my subscription.
we need a full sneaker collection video
Yes we do!
Yes! We do!!!!
Question of the day.... can we get a SOTC video of your kicks?
No question !
Ditto
As a therapist I appreciate you mentioning foot health. I see clients who wear heels all the time and everything from their ankles and above are screwed and their feet look alien. If your feet aren’t happy everything above it won’t be.
that was off the wall .... 🔥video

Hell yeah, Chris. I love Vans. My favorite Vans silhouette is the Era, specifically the black with the white outsole. It’s so simply but pairs with anything. The fact that there are some cool designs on them too are just an added bonus.
I started watching you when you did performance reviews on basketball shoes, and it’s been fun watching you grow!
I always continue to connect with this channel. I'm the same way. I have a vast collection of bball shoes but rock vans daily.
Vans Vault Slip-Ons and Pro/Skate Half Cabs are my go-to's for sure, whenever I'm not in Jordan/Nike/NB.
I would have never guessed this…
i love the ultrarange ones. Comfy all-around shoe.

Aha! I also switched my j1 mid's insole to the lunarlon from my chucks.
I like the personal touch, was definitely expecting a different answer. Keep’m coming! 🔥
I’m lovin this break from the regular content and breakdowns. I’m here for this 🔥
Same here my g. I’m into leisure wear & having tendinitis doesn’t help being in a Jordan, Nike, Adidas basketball shoe all day. Thanks for the vid.
This van is definitely my favorite right now and the different colors released are 🔥
my go-to everyday are my vans as well, love 'em!! i can do a lot of walking back and forth on fairly slick concrete floors at work every day and so the tread and grip is nice too i never feel like i lose my footing
I think its funny that I have seen you in more skate shoes than the traditional "sneaker". Comfort is king!

Awesome vid as always. 👌🏽
Shirtless over shoe less any day.

Vans ultra range are in my top 5 shoes of all time. Vans style with an almost boost quality cushion. Chuck them on and just go.
Reminds me of the one time I had a pair of airwalks. Really makes you think.
Bro! I love these! I recently bought some. So comfortable!
Kinda expected a Vans, lol. I ve never had a pair but those Old School look great imo, and being an old head too I know there is a different kind of comfort in minimal shoes, like Chuck Taylors. Nice shoes!
I like this 'beefcake' version of the old skool.

Also, Storm, Gambit, Wolverine, Cyclops and Beast. I feel pretty certain on those 🤓
Well, that was unexpected. Mine lately has to be the Dunk SB Low Pro "Chicago".

Nice. I'm not cool enough for Vans, but I did have a pair of AirWalks back in the day 😂
Shirtless in the desert is the way to go, I'm out on the cold.
I absolutely love the new school joints
I knew he’s was gonna say a pair of Vans, it’s a California/Bay Area thing. Everyone has a pair of Vans
Adidas Alphabounce are my go-to. Insane comfort but not too squishy, the OG's were incredible
Those are cool. My go to are ASICS Trabuco Max 2. Very cushioned and comfortable. Try them out.
i used to wear vans a lot back in the day along with some stefan janoskis from nike. i bought a pair of vans again recently and was not feeling it, sold it after like 2 wears lol. but the janoskis came back and theyre still great.
these look pretty dope tho
Really cool to see. Great review as always, but refreshing to see something out of norm.
They last forever. I never had a pair break on me. I am on the fence about them. I used to see people wearing them at the gym. I can't agree with your cushioning taste. I have worn Vans since elementary. The last pair I bought was a blackout skate Hi from a pawn shop.
It makes sense considering Chris is Californian
Can you explain more in detail
About cushioning and foot damage effect!!!…..cuz I thought shoes with cushion are good for us!??
I've been looking at these every time I walk by them in the mall. Once again, Chris made me buy another pair of shoes lol
A video about your most worn sneakers over the years would be great!
Would love to see more vans reviews! Converse too!
my most worn sneaker is the gel kayano 14s. It's nice and wide, plush but still very stable, best of both worlds imo. As a plus, mesh sneakers are in these days!

Review on Jordan 3 Rio please!
i had just left a comment on the other video this morning asking you if youd consider reviewing vans and others and now you post this , awsome :D
Was expecting him to say Skechers
I can't believe skechers is trying to sell b-ball shoes for $150.... it doesn't take rocket science to know that's gonna fail.
Half cabs and switchbacks are my favorite vans…old skool’s and sk8 hi’s are tied for 3rd
I really want some of these too, half cabs are my personal favorite kinda vans overal
I expected a low top but didn't expect vans. That being said I'm also not surprised
Just made it through all the unlaced episodes we need it back!!
It didn’t get enough support so we had to cancel it.
Like the fat laces but man didn’t expect this, but dope as always!
loved this episode! hope you guys do more recent pick ups or rotation videos
Crazy I wear vans a lot but seems like they are messing up my feet because of no cushion. My daily’s are skate-Hi’s. Need to re evaluate what type of shoes I should be wearing
I think I was close. My guess was DC which also are skate shoes, right?
Love these but I would love to recommend you Adidas campus 2000
They have a very similar vibe to knu skool
I think you will love it
Cool t shirt. Not a fan of the old skool vans though, never been that comfortable for me, I love my new balances!
That’s interesting! Didn’t expect that lol growing up I used adidas/pumas more, had a couple of vans but not many, more Jordan’s recently since I can afford them now
Honestly I think Mrs Wing made a great point. I’d probably choose the ice berg over the dessert.
Feel Like in the old days rocking my skate Vans where ever I Go. Ah Times changes
Leaving my question again, since it was ❤ed by you two... QUESTION: If you could have one shoe come back every 2-3 years with necessary interior tech/luxury improvements... What would that shoe be?
The Knu Skools on this video don't have white stitching near the toe box
The ones at foot locker do
Where can I buy the ones you have?
Wear what you want ! All I want to know is , will Chris wear those sweet AJ 17 low ???!!!
Hey I got a pair and I DID rip out the insole and put in the all day move insole and holy shit way better for me personally
Would love to see a video of the best beaters/ everydays
I’m glad you keep it real and don’t wear some, “hype beast” BS. Great video. 😎🤙🏻
Oh, these are very reminiscent of ADIMATIC MID.
Unfortunately, my knees and wide feet don't allow me to enjoy all these cool sneakers.

I'm surprised but not at all offended that these are your most worn. But then again, my left- by-the-front-door sneaker rotation is largely about simple comfort, too.

I wear the Vans Ultrarange all the time. The Vans style with more comfort.
I hear you bro, my Van’s Chima are my daily go to sneakers 😎
Can’t go wrong with Vans, the last 6 years I’ve worn old skools or slip ons more than any other shoe
I thought for sure it was going to be a pair of Birkenstocks 😉. Storm, Gambit, Wolverine, Cyclops, and Iceman.
YAY! Finally vans!!!
Bro not what I was expecting haha
I hate the knu schools 😂 but to each his own. I wear my checkered slip ons probably more than anything else.
