These are the vans KNU SKOOL. Popularized by Imran Potato's release last year, this model is being reissued from way back to the 90s. The shoe was surprisingly difficult to acquire due to the hype all over social media, but was finally able to track down a pair of these oversized old skools. Is this a must cop for a summer sneaker or is it just hype? Let's talk about it!

Being a 90s kid skating in DC’s and Vans these are crazy nostalgic to me and really happy they brought them back. Even if it is hype, younger generation getting to enjoy things we used to rock back then is cool to see.

These were actually around back in the 90s. The potato collab was them reintroducing the model. I will say though I am not surprised it took Vans this long to start pumping out GR pairs. I still remember people were fiending for those OG Vault Slip Ons Biebs was wearing back in the day, but they couldn’t find them so they had to settle for the mall version bc Vans would not restock them 💀

crazy.. this how i wore my vans, adio, globe, fallen sneakers back when i was a kid. its cool the style came back around.
I got to the mall 3 weeks ago and saw them and didnt know the hype on them, they had my size and got them just cause i thought they were cool looking. I didnt realize how hype they were till after i purchased them and looked at reviews and people a week later asking me if i seen them, and got shocked at my response that i got them, and they cant find them, i guess i got them in time, they just fit my style and is why i got them.
Hype is crazy now!

The reintroduction and reissue of the Knu Skool.
The original Knu Skool of the 90's was reissued a couple of years ago by Vans Japan.

Totally remember these when they first came out in the 90s. Never had a pair. But had some similar ones, Vans use to make a lot shoes like this during the mid and late 90s.

I haven’t worn vans since high school but I definitely wore some that looked like these. I just picked up some sk8 hi’s after a very long hiatus of not wearing vans.

Something about the idea of there being hyped vans just feels…….. *wrong* to me. The appeal of them is that they *aren’t* a hypebeast brand, they make classic and iconic shoes that are easy to style and are loved by people from all walks of life
Had a pair over 10 years and were so comfortable. I'm glad it's back. I want it again in gray with white or black stripe like the Adidas Campus 00s

Def love the gaudy puffed out side but def gives a puma esque vans to me!

I still have my old pairs of old Skools. Not getting the new ones yet. I did pick up a Vans sandal. It’s has a traditional Vans sole but it’s a sandal.
These are 100% worth the hype! They’re so fcuking cool and that late 90’s early 2000’s look is definitely something I’m obsessed with, so I welcome these shoes back with open arms 😭

I had a pair of the Black and Whites back when I was in high one of my most favorite pair of shoes
I remember having a pair back in the late 90s, i used jock these when I was skateboarding and tagging.
If you wore vans in hs back in 2010-12 you know they sold similar ones to these in all black with the checkered on the side with the puffy tongue but i don’t remember what they were called. They Were sold at swap meets and small mom & pop shops
I think those where the Rowleys. They had them in a plaid red pattern to.

these are cool, but the OG version is absolutely awesome. with the vulc outsole. even though this re issue features details of the OG, it still feels like it's a modern era shoe :(, hope they drop the Knu Skool exactly as it was

That jazz stripe gonna get dirty quick. Dope model though.
The fatter vans stripe is overall a better design choice vs the thin one seen on the Old School. The thin stripe on the regular old school is outweighed by white vulc sole and just looks awful. The knu skool stripe to white sole ratio is much more aesthetically pleasing.

I had Vans similar to that back in high school early 2000s but it didn't have the stripe on the side. It just had the word Vans on the side and the midsole and bottom sole was different. It cost $40 back then. I should've gotten hella pairs because the style is discontinued 😢

Bought mine back in june and i wear them every now and then, they're not my daily shoes by any means, but i have noticed some signs of wear in the sole already, like in the white part of the sole near the heel, the bottom of the midsole i guess, I'm noticing little tears and even a small hole. I do like these shoes, but things like this do concern me about how long they're going to last
