Thank you very much!!🙇🇯🇵 This work was a gift project for 100,000 people. It arrived to the elected people yesterday, but it seems that they were surprised at the thinness. The teacher I admire is Shigenobu Inoue, the first woodturner in Japan. He can reduce the thickness to 0.2mm. I will post the website, so if you like thin works, please have a look.
My late father would make goblets with rings like this on his lathe. Watching this is bringing back all kinds of memories. I'm thankful I still have some of them. Thank you for doing this craft.
Thanks for your comment!! Dad had a great machine! I want to get the right knowledge and take on the challenge! Wood turning is a wonderful world with a wide age range!!
Thanks for your comment!!✨🇯🇵 I judge by the amount of light transmission, the sound of shaving and the vibration transmitted to my hand! Experience is important, but there are still failures.
@@YamabikoWoodArt the work looks like glass. it is transparent .. and so fine the lips of the glass .. i thought it would break for a while .. or i would see the sunlight you do a very careful job ... your hands are not shaking at all .. you have found the peace that leads to this effect
You might be interested to know that people who make violins and cellos have also used a similar technique when carving the belly of the instrument i.e of gradually taking off wood guided by a light behind the wood, saves having to keep measuring every few seconds with a thickness gauge.
Thank you very much! Aphananthe aspera (Muku Tree) grows naturally in my area. They are so large that they are truncated where they are not needed. I get them and make them works. May a good day come. Greetings from Japan

You are the master of the thin walls of your turnings. I am amazed with the restraint you have with your craft. Beautiful ringed goblet!

Thank you!! Ruthlyn Wills!!
I held my breath until I got used to it.
Sandpaper can be made somewhat thin, but we did our best with gouges!
Oh my word, the light trick is brilliant! I've often wondered how I was gonna know the thickness and where to stop.

How thin you got that is seriously a work of art. To me, that was more impressive than the rings. And those were definitely impressive.

whats the thing about the marble at 16:27 ??
A sphere made of rubber that children throw and play!
It was suitable because it was soft and had a non-slip effect.
