This would have been a great vehicle for the survival mode campaign you played a while ago where you had to collect items from the surface and under water.
for the helicopter Name: Sea Minnow SH-16 (16 comes from the 16 minute video time) Description: Designed as a search and Rescue Helicopter, it can go in both air and water by pivoting it's main rotors toward the front of the craft, making it have propulsion from the main thrust even when in water, with the addition of a Reaction Wheel so the Sea Minnow can have an easy time with yaw control while still staying compact so that there is less weight to deal with when in the air. This Helicopter, with the aid of a good pilot, can go in tight areas where most might not be able to reach, along with reaching underwater areas to easily save whoever it is in distress. (this craft can also be used for exploration purposes due to the performance) here you go Scrap Man, i hope you enjoy the idea!!
You should make custom props using paddles a d small modular wings with steering hinges for angling them, that way when your in the air you can have lift and in the water you can have forward force.
11:15 Pro tip for the future: Add logic gates with output less than 1 on toggle (you gotta fine tune this) to activate heli engines for hover/slow sink mode. It will make your landings way smoother.
I see the appeal of not using glitches, but the fact that the top speed underwater is so low makes me feel like using the no drag glitch on top of the propeller would be justified
Can we apreciate the fact that when workshop day 1 was opened there was like basic things for ppl and now ITS this (ofc there is ppl still making things to help others ) but this is just creativity at its finest
If you ever run out of ideas, have a plane in cockpit can detach from the wings, and act as a submarine. Ideally with the wings detaching as a single unit and the two parts being able to reattach.
A name for it could be the subocopter (I think you should do more building in game like trailmakers and scrap mechanic) (thank you for being the best Yotuber)
12:56 Another pro tip: Heli blades give really wierd and inconsistent lift in lower speeds, thats why when you look at the workshop, there is a plenty of helis with spojler pieces instead of heli blades. I belive they can spin faster too. I have plenty of helis with spojlers.
I once made a thing I called a Helibell, it was a bell with a cone on the front, followed by contra-spinning heli blades, followed by the bell (with engines for pitch), followed by more heli blades, then a set of small fins.
this might be a fever dream that I once had, but I swear there was a kids show (10 or more years back) where there was a helicopter that turns into a submarine (other vehicles as well, but all were aircraft into sea vehicles), I think it was similar to Octonauts. Am I crazy or does anyone else remember this?
Is it maneuverable enough that you ca take it to the high seas and collect salvage with it? You know, in winds and currents and with rocks and cliffs all around.
Usually you have push, rather than pull under water, because the rotors cause turbulences behind it, that make the ride very bumpy, if the vehicle is inside them.
This thumbnail made me nostalgic for something from my childhood, but I can't remember what Edit: I think I remember, actually. There was a show from when I was a kid, with a team of animal-people(?) who went around helping the various residents of their world, and they had vehicles that all had different travel modes. I just can't remember the name of it!
Are you thinking of Wonder Pets, or perhaps Little Einsteins, or maybe Swat Kats? Those are the three that come to mind for me, but if you’re not an early 2000’s kid, they may not be what you’re looking for.
@@shadowgjhgitgjh2215 I did watch Wonder Pets as a kid, and I did hear about Little Einsteins but didn't watch it. Haven't heard about that last one though. None of them are what I was remembering, though. The clearest detail I remember from the show I'm thinking of is that there's a penguin character with a jetpack that could also operate underwater. The other characters also had other vehicles that could be used to get to the site of the problem of the episode.
in previous videos scrapman said he does weird builds in trailmakers because it has the best physics or something like that, so would he still play trailmakers at all not including dlcs if there was a game that did it better
This would be the most OP Stealth helicopter, under the water there is no chopping noise from the blades. On a side note. The swash plate is pretty easy to make, all you need is the 1x2 hinges stacked with the directions perpendicular for the 2 layers. So to help visualize first layer place the hinges layer like this = and on the other layer like this || hope that's helpful. After that it's just programing the tilt. For a closer to realistic yaw control, you use logic with your helicopter rotors to slow down one set of blades depending on which direction you need to rotate. Admittedly the yaw controls are a lot more work than the swash plate. And if you really want you can still utilize your other controls with the swash plate, that might give you more precision control but not sure about that.
In hindsight though, sonar would still be able to pick them up, but with it being so small it would still be hard to pinpoint it's exact position, but it would technically be possible to spot them.
@Loke You see sonar works by bouncing sound off an object. But when you have massive blades chopping the water they interfere with the audio bounce back, especially considering the body of the craft can get complete cover behind the blades. That's why I said possible to spot it but not pinpoint it's location. If you just listening to ambient noise in the water with a military grade sonar system you'd know it's nearby but without any real direction, possibly a rough estimate that might be close enough to take it out. The pinging sonar on the other hand will can get an exact position however it only listens for it's ping frequency, and as I mentioned with the chopping, it might eat that sound frequency into the din of other noises, it could even end up scattering it in random directions causing a flood of False positives. When an object can't interfere with the sonar such as fish, I'll give you it's highly accurate.
@Loke I wouldn't call myself an expert either honestly. I've just looked into things and retain information very well. I just don't want to take credit for something I'm not.
I used to watch you in quarantine!!! I made so many cool vehicles in trail makers! You were my biggest inspiration im so happy this came up on my recommendations again!
i have been watching for a few years, and on my hardcore world, i have built a tribute to the scrap gods, each time sacrifice a sheep or a larger animal for good fortune when mining, it has worked well so far.
Multiplayer monday 3vs3 -One person has an (opertional) aircraft carrier -the rest of the team has vtol jets that need to be capable of a stable hover -In order to win destroy the enemy aicraft carrier ( you can only use dynomite and small canons to attack the carrier/ enemy aicraft) -high rate of fire guns welcome Only 6 guns avaiable and as much dynomite as you want -jets have only 2 lives -the raund starts with jets taking off from the aircraft carrier (you can use vtol for that) -the entire map is the arena - Go for tresure Island
Was thinking that the floats could be like pontoons. Would look like good landing gear in heli form and wouldn't look too much out of place for a submersible.
Heli with double propellers (one front another back) could solve the balance issue Then there's quadcopter option - propellers can be smaller, and for submersible mode simply have to turn forward
better choice would have been a "tilt wing" with the rotors on wings on the side, taking off like a helo, flying like a plane, shifting to hover to drop into the water, then shfting to sub mode... maybe having the engine pods rotate to face backwards LOL,
How about "Sy UH-5 Kingfisher". Kingfisher., because it flies and goes underwater. Sy (Scrapyard) a made-up aeronautics company that is, like the real life companies such as B (Boeing), A(Airbus), Sikorsky etc. U (Utility) H (Helicopter) 5 as in the model though it might be incorrect, since I don't know how many models(Blueprints) you made of it.
Scrap man when that new game mode in trail makers comes out. With shooting down enemy planes. You could use this method as a way to take cover during battles. Using the sub.
Day 112 of asking for a Multiplayer Monday in survival mode where everyone starts at the crashed ship with a craftbot in the mechanic station. Everyone has 30 minutes to build a vehicle from scratch, gathering their own materials. No glitches, thrusters allowed, after which everyone meets up and races their builds
Did you know: true crime youtubers talking abou a person who did 10 warcrimes are somehow less disturbing than lost media youtubers talking abaut a canceled episode of spongebob
I've been watching your content for SO many years, thought it was time to show my appreciation for once!
Scrapman is the best.
Glad to have you watching, thanks so much!
I always hated him as kid, but now as a teenager I love him thanks for the vids
One of my fav channels. keep up the good content!
Damn I have never seen someone donating more than $5 to a RUclips. Good on ya
Imagine you are at a harbour and then a freaking *Helicopter* comes out of the water. I’d be both impressed and terrified.
😂😂😂😂same Bro
totally understandable, especially if that thing would be armed with like missiles or other stuff.
Like bro was flying underwater
*RUN*
Yes RUN
There are more helicopters underwater than submarines in the sky, but Scrapman works on fixing that
Wow
Haha
Can’t stress enough how much i still enjoy your content after all these years.. Thanks Scrapman
He prob changed the content but not the execution
*express
Scrapman is the best trailmaker RUclipsr ever
Yes
+1

Scrapman: bet.
I would name this marvelous machine the “S.H.O.F.S.”, or the “Submersible Helicopter Or Flying Submarine”
I just remembered this channel after years you've made my childhood, quality only improved after 3 years aswell
Imagine just enjoying your day at the sea then you see a helicopter doing a dolphin dive out of water 😭
I see the appeal of not using glitches, but the fact that the top speed underwater is so low makes me feel like using the no drag glitch on top of the propeller would be justified
I think that a design similar to the V-22 osprey would work pretty good
The way my brain said "make it an L shape," then you made it an L shape. We are on the same wavelength, Man of Scrap.
The Flying Goldfish feels fitting for a name for some reason lol.
Best name so far XD
Do you hear the scratching? It's the joint chiefs of staff signing orders. ;)
Good job with that subcopter! And it even looks good.
No way, flying submarine sounds way cooler!
“… the water has a lot more resistance in the air…” quote from scrapman

Dragster seat with 5 sets of spiked wheels and a booster on top.
You could automate the transition by placing an altitude sensor on your subcopter and setting it to sea level
In the beginning it looks like a person holding on to the propellers for dear life😂 2:20
Already totally hyped just from the thumbnail! 🔥
If you ever run out of ideas, have a plane in cockpit can detach from the wings, and act as a submarine.

This is a cool multiplayer monday idea if you can make a race track that goes through air, on ground, and under water.
Evolution race with this kind of multi-purpose vehicle would be cool for multi player monday
“More planes are in the ocean than submarines in the sky”
Scrapman: Fools…
My brain took one look at it and said “The Flying Sunfish!”
I once made a thing I called a Helibell, it was a bell with a cone on the front, followed by contra-spinning heli blades, followed by the bell (with engines for pitch), followed by more heli blades, then a set of small fins.
Might be good on stealth missions. Where you have to go slow underwater to get in, but fly out to get away fast!
The heli is what pulled me to this. Amazing vid as always!
It's been ages since I've watched a acrap man video, brings back lots of memories and it seems like nothing's changed great video
Crap man 😂
A submersible Osprey. That’s pretty sick

this was great!
You should bring back the series where you recreate strange vehicles from real life!
I like how ScrapMan first build the solution and then tried to find a problem :D
You should try and build Buster as a plane transformer. Great video as always Scrapman.
I don't know what to call the creation... but I dub the transitions at the end from sub to heli "The Dolphin"
It'd be cool to see a flite test nutball plane in trailmakers
Absolutely awesome!
Definitely one of the best things you've built in my opinion
I like how the Helimarine immediately started life as a Submaplane instead.
its sound differently inside my head
I’ve got a great name for it! THE AQUACOPTER!
I think you should add an altitude sensor so it transitions to and from the helicopter/sub modes

Small upgrade for anfibicopter would be altitude sensor set to 0 so it transitions automatically

What’s your favorite game? Also you should do another Q&A video.
Use pistons to extend the arm to the nose in sub mode and retract again in heli mode was also a option

I'd like to see a blade system that folded away and a separate form of propulsion for the submarine element
