    5:40 you're supposed to be able to screw the head off of the mic and then put the colored piece on the body and screw the head back on so it stays on permanently and yes also to color code each mic.

    Couldn't agree more about your "A/B Comparison" statement. I heard differences in the mics, but they were all great imo. One thing that I have found over the years that we musicians tend to forget is that our audiences are NOT sound reinforcement techs. Our frustration with sound quality is really self inflicted and needlessly so. That is "if" it's not blatant in your face noise obviously. For that price and what it is and does I think it's fantastic!
    Great video and great find Scott, thank you!

    • @ScottUhlMusic

      Exactly! And once you get it in a mix and in a live setting and add eq/comp/etc you can’t really tell anyways. I really cannot stand A/B comparisons personally.

      @@Yopperpo I would change the channels on the mics. How many are you using at once? If you are just using the 4 mics you should almost always be fine... but just remember that they are cheaper mics and that's the risk with cheaper gear sometimes. But change the channel if you get interference on one of the channels.

    The scan feature is a fantastic feature, and one that I would definitely use for each of the channels at a gig. This is a great review. Thank you very very much. The mic protector can fit by the head of the mic (take off mic protector. Insert the rubber piece screw back on the mic protector ) so people don’t ‘cup’ the mic with their hand. It protects also from bumps on the Mic cage while it doesn’t make in advertently sound.

    I have this system and I love it. Such a great deal and they honestly work really well. I have the system with 4 handheld mics. I also purchased 1 body pack with the lav mic. I am a DJ and the lav mic is for wedding ceremonies.
    I only have 2 complaints. First, the body pack's range is not as good as the handheld mics. I know this is generally an issue for all lavs across brands and price ranges. My first ceremony was rough with dropouts. Since then, I just figure out a way to get the receiver as close as possible and it's been fine. The second is a small complaint. The screens are hard to see on the mics and body pack. My display has an orange color (maybe an older manufacturing run?) Now they look like they are blue in color on the display.
    Again, you can't beat it. Very happy I found this and didn't shell out a ridiculous amount of money trying to get something else from a bigger brand.

      Interesting, I haven’t tried the body packs, but like I mention in the video the mic went further than my $1k in ear monitor system. It definitely blew me away, especially for this price point

    Hey Scott! Firstly amazing video, very detailed and accurate. I couldn't agree with you more on your analysis. I've been a karaoke host and DJ for 30 years and they are outstanding. Secondly, the colored collars that you placed at the base of the mic, can slide all the way up to the neck, and rest between the head and the shaft. They are silicone and stretchy. This way it stays more stable and protects the head of the microphone from occasional drops, in addition used for karaoke or other types of vocal shows, it will guard from people cupping the microphone. Thank you again!

    Hey Scott, thanks for all of your great videos. You've helped improve our audio and save money at our church in numerous ways! We have two Shure SLX-D wireless systems. Two mics are bodypacks for the pastors, and one is for a singer's mic. We don't have the fourth mic yet for that system yet.
    Long story short, I have a larger group of singers, and we have to plug in so many things each week because we rent out the space. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to buy this Phenyx system and use it along with the Shure system? It would save a lot of money. The Shure one shares the same frequency band, though (500s). What would you do?
    TLDR: I'd like to go wireless for all of our mics at church, but I already own a Shure system in the same frequency band as the Phenyx. Can I use both systems with relatively little issue?

      Really? Because I cannot put them above like 9/10 o’clock when I use them. And I’ve test it compared to my Shure mics. With my Slx wireless, I have saw where the level was with my gain set in my mixer. When I plugged these guys in, I have to put it at 9/10 o’clock to match the same level. That’s really interesting. I mean a gain boost isn’t the end of the world, but I wonder why you would have the opposite of what I have with them 🤔

    Thanks, Scott, for the detailed review. I have been going back and forth looking at the 6000A since I need more than 4 mics, and am still amazed by the price. I had a couple of questions. Can you set frequencies on the microphones manually, or do you have to use the IR option? Also, have you seen any issues with the either the receiver or the microphones losing their frequency settings after changing batteries, unplugging or just having it sit around for a long time? Or cases where you accidentally bumped a button and the frequency changed without you realizing? In my application the system will be used by different people at different times, so I am hoping to set it up once and forget it and hope for everyone else it will be plug and play. Thanks for the discount code; if I end up buying this, I will definitely use it!

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  2 года назад +1

      Since getting the PTU ones I haven’t used these in a while. But you can manually set the channel I believe. And no you don’t lose the frequency by leaving it, and if someone does bump it that’s a problem anyone can run into, but it’s highly unlikely. Just remember these are cheaper mics. And insane deal for sure, but they will have their limitations 👍

    One question- if you use the 1/4 inch mix out instead of the individual xlr's for each channel, and you plug the 1/4 inch into your board, does that mean all 4 mics will go through that one channel and then you'd just control the individual volume for each mic through the receiver instead of the board..? Just trying to understand if I can get all 4 mics going through one channel vs using 4 channels on my mixing board. Thanks so much!

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  2 года назад

      You don’t really get control over them individually that way, it’s just all the audio coming out of the 1 output if you want to combine the audio together.

    Hey Scott! I just came across your video on this Mic System. I have been using Vocopro mics for my karaoke shows for years now and those Mics run in the 900-930Mhz range. How would you compare these mics that operate between 500 and 600Mhz. Would you say this range is more reliable than the 900 to 930Mhz range? After years of not having issues, I'm suddenly running into issues at some of my venues, so something has changed to start causing some interference.

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  Год назад

      It all depends on the venue/area you are playing in. Sometimes a venue is crowded in certain frequencies. The more frequencies you have, the more likely you will have a clean channel to transmit on. Regardless if that’s in 500 or 900Mhz

    Nice review! How bright sounding are the mics? I see the frequency range is 50hz - 15kHz (you say 18kHz on this video, but on their website it say 15kHz for the mics and the system). I currently use an SE Electronics V7 mic, which has a brighter sound than an SM58 as the frequency range goes up to 20kHz. I found the SM58 muddy in comparison. So I'm wondering if the mics in this set sound bright for rock vocals (I play in an 80s rock style band). So with this set, can you take each output on the back and plug each one into a different input on a digital mixer? If so, that would be great! This looks like quite an affordable way to get 4 wireless vocal mics for a band.

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  3 года назад

      Yes, you get 4 xlr outputs out of the back of this one. And I personally think these sound brighter than the sm58 👍 you definitely won’t need anything higher than 15khz or 18khz to get something to sound brighter. That’s more air and sibilance in that range 👍
