The Bad Brains were one of the most influential hardcore punk bands back in the 80's and one of the best hardcore punk bands musically .amazing musicians.
I've been waiting on a bad brains reaction. Cause most black people think punk is only a white people thing. I'm Mexican and I love how music brings us all together no matter the genre. Edit: bad brains has inspired so many heavy metal bands like lamb of god. Knowledge is power
the first punk band was a group called death who are also like bad brains as they are the pioneers and are also all black male copmbo. They are not to be confused with death metal group who are also called Death.
That dude is the second frontman but the first H.R. (Human Rights) was the singer in I against I that dude and the drummer they are brothers but for musical differences (they want to play reggae) so they left the band but the best era was when all this start and the first record was Black Dots and is sick . punk rock as hell and suddenly they started to play the songs more faster and faster by that time like i don't ever remember the year but close to 1980 and so the Bad Brains created a new genre based on punk rock called Hardcore Punk , the first era was the best ! I'm takin to you Sippin'tons you better check that shit Bad Brains the yellow tape ✔ Leaving Babylon
You are now an elite reaction channel for doing Bad Brains. Hands down, the greatest Hardcore band of all time. But! The original singer HR isn’t on this album. Please do another! “Soul Craft”
Ya'll like Bad Brains then you should check out Fishbone - "Sunless Saturday" and Skindred - "Babylon". Both bands fuse all kinds of genres to make their own sounds that are definitely influenced by Bad Brains. Fishbone blends ska, funk, punk, reggae, soul, gospel and metal. Skindred call themselves Ragga Metal which sounds like reggae, punk, dancehall, electronic and metal. Both bands are absolutely amazing. Peace....
New Jersey Represent! Exit 18A here. Now living in Australia. Stumbled upon you via the YT algorithm. I dug you from the beginning. Then learn you are Jersey peeps! Love it. Greetings from a Jersey boy in Oz. You must check out Fishbone. My favourite band of all time. They play everything. In one song sometimes. I suggest “Swim” and “Servitude” in one video. It’s the album open from “Give a Monkey a Brain and He’ll Swear He’s the Center of the Universe” After that. “Everyday Sunshine” These guys are the greatest live band. No fixed lead singer. Rhythm section are brothers. Punk, Ska, Metal, Reggae, Calipso, Funk, Soul. They do it all. Signed barely out of High School. Should have been huge. Inspired many. Like Flea from Chilli Peppers and No Doubt. Love and Peace!
I've been Mia with you both for awhile. Just me working too much. But dang, after watching this...it reminded me of how much I love you both in a metal way! Awesome tunes, alcohol and friends. You both rock! \m/
In year 1984 we(few German Punks) made a Trip to Danmark,,,, we took 3 tents, 240 cans of beer and only 1 tape. Its, was,, Bad Brains-banned in DC........ Was a great time with great Musik. 🍺🎸🏤🏕️
Bad Brains has been, and will always be, my favorite punk band. I started listening to them way back in the 80s. To understand them you have to listen to the reggae side, too, and not just the hard core punk side. BTW, Bad Brains isn't Bad Brains without HR and Earl so this song is a very watered down version of them.
I wish they had continued with Isreal Joseph I though. This album was better than anything they did after, plus H.R. wasn't into playing Punk/metal anymore and fought against it. He even insisted they change the name to Soul Brains because he thought Bad Brains was too negative. Of course much later on they discovered(mostly due to his wife) that H.R. had lots of undiagnosed mental health issues which were responsible for his behavior. I honestly think they would have had a better later half of their career if they hadn't brought H.R. back due to his metal health problems and conflict over musical direction.
The love is flowing..... way off the wall but I've never seen anybody react to a little band called HUM !!! STARS or THE SCIENTISTS!!! I LOVE YOU HUMANS SO BAD!!!
in 1982 their first album came out.. the first track on the album was "Sailin' On" review that track and just imagine. Imagine in '82 being a white punk/hardcore kid in a HUGELY predominate white-underground scene and hearing this song and then finding out the band was a group of black rastafarians who were also skilled in reggae. INCREDIBLE band and HISTORIC band. One of the Godfathers of Hardcore Music.
Bad Brains were actually considered a punk band originally. I think they started in 1977 or so. But it's obvious they have ragae and metal in their time after punk. Their punk stuff is more awesome imo. Great reaction!
Originally they were a jazz-rock fusion band before Sid McCray played Young Loud and Snotty for em and that changed everything. Then they saw Bob open for Chick Corea and everything changed again.
Hell yeah, these guys are one of the best. Those is a great track, but I hope you guys did yourselves a favor and check out some albums with H.R. on vocals, guy was a madman.
Hey guys!! You should check out Fishbone another all black band! You have to listen to more than one song cause they play it all!! From funk to punk and ska and soul!!
First I love your reactions. Second I love that you are all on this musical journey experiencing new genres. Thirdly you all are couple goals. You are what myself and my beautiful wife seek to achieve. We love watching your reactions together. Keep it up! Thank you for what you contribute to music.
You guys should react to some Fishbone! One of the craziest mixes of rock, metal, funk, reggae, jazz, and rap ever recorded...and also an ALL African American band! Check out the songs When Problems Arise or Fight The Youth!
Kia ora hello from aotearoa New Zealand These guys are amazing they changed my life in 1984 these guys mind fucked me then and they still do. I and I Survive and positive metal attitude off 1983s rock for light are my favorite hardcore and reggae songs ever the first time i heard these wonderful Men i was doing the dishes after dinner Monday night with my shitty little mono tape deck next to me and have student radio playing I'd push record at the start of each song if i liked it keep it or rewind and wait for the next one one night i pushed record and changed the direction of my life a song came on THAT to this then 14 year old boy was like I'd just been punched in the guts stunned i think i might of forgotten to breathe THE SONG WAS POSITIVE METAL ATTITUDE BY THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BAD BRAINS TOOK ANY CHOICE I HAD AWAY 52 years old and still have a mohawk
May I request ANYTHING from the Bad Brains LIVE album... 1987 I think... I and I Survive, perhaps? And because it's important, Fishbone - Servitude. And NEVER apologize for being human. We all pre-judge shit from time to time. Remember that we are all COUSINS, one family, and we learn and forgive as best we can. You guys ROCK! Peace!!!
Time for some Judas Priest. Dissident Aggressor (studio version), Dortmund ´83 concert, Victim Of Changes (studio version or Live version from Unleashed In The East). Damn...do the whole Unleashed In The East album while you´re at it 🍻
Don't judge a book with its cover they say, although they do have a reggae album, which is just a great. Now you gotta check out a Japanese girl band called band-maid. They are a hard rock band but with so many different elements and influences. If you don't mind the language barrier, go for it.
This is a later incarnation of the band with a different singer and drummer. If you want the real Bad Brains experience, you need to watch Bad Brains live at CBGBs. The original group was the greatest Punk band of all time. P.S. They played straight Reggae between fast songs to catch their breath.
Damn, liked just because very rarely would you see bad brains in a reaction so mad props. Sad how legendary they are yet "punk" fans have no idea who they are.
I used to jam to this, Whole Wheat Bread - "No Problem" (check out the video called Whole Wheat Bread Muppets) and Living Colour - "Cult of Personality". You must check out Cult of Personality out it is a classic.
Black people not only created rock, but also revolutionized it. There would be no punk if not for the Bad Brainz. And they didn't even know they were punk.
You should check out the band NIL8 from my hometown of Springfield, Illinois who two of the members are brothers who are mixed and they fuse punk, metal, funk and hip hop
Bad Brains!! You may also like Rage Against the Machine (anti government). Reggae bands to check out: Black Uhuru, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, Pato Banton, Lee Scratch Perry. Ska bands: The Specials. Reggae Rock: Sublime, Slighlty Stoopid, Rebulation, Stick Figure, The Expendables.
By the way, if you want to hear reggae like you‘ve never heard it before (guaranteed!), check out Nosliw and his song “Immer wieder hören“. Yeah, it’s in German, but it works in a weird way.
You should check out their earlier stuff with original vocalist. Much better. They mixed a lot of reggae, punk and even some go go in the early days back in DC.
If you are looking for current bands with this style check out the band Skindred and do the song Move Mountains they did with the Canadian band Sumo Cyco who is an awesome band you should check out too
This was okay, but the REAL Bad Brains was with their original singer HR. He is unreplaceable. A living Legend. Bad Brains changed my life in the 1980s.
Love Bad Brains. You have to do I against I from them. And Living Colour Cult of Personality or Desperate people. Fishbone Everyday Sunshine and When Problems Arise
always enjoys seeing black pple discovering Bad Brains but you should watch older songs bad brains without H.R. is not rly Bad brains. Go for "right brigade" or "banned in DC" live and one last thing Hardcore scene is one of the most tolerant movement and Bad brains are the godfathers of old Hardcore Punk peace out
Bad brains is punk and raggae sounds weird but it's not punk came from raggae and their are alot of bands and people that play and love both types of music as well as Ska and rock steady infact Bob Marley used to hate punks until he started talking to these two punk journalists or interviewers that made him like punk music and people then he made a song named punky raggae party which is about the love of both genres and he mentioned a few punk bands he originally had the slits in it but took it out when he learned more about them lmao
Iconic Hardcore Band... first wave. But the legendary singer H.R and his brother and Drummer Earl hudson were out of the Band to this time... so its not the real bad brains. Sorry! You should check their earlier stuff..attitude, i against i, right Brigade... big takeover or quickness.... they put raggea into the Hardcore... "I Against I." One of the greatest songs, ever!!!!
Their live performance of "Big Take Over" (New York, 12/1982) is the most punk thing you'll ever see
" Banned in D.C." by the "Bad Brains". A brutal track from their early days.
Grew up on it
...or I Against I, the song or the album.
LOOOOOVE this band and song and really love your reaction. Adorable.
