Also try a dehumidifying cabinet, i had a customer dunk a Canon 5DMKII w/24-105mm in water and didn't work so I put it in the dehumidifying cabinet for 3 days and it was dry as a bone and worked perfectly again.
Andrew is never allowed to unbox a camera ever again. DISCLAIMER: The Fujifilm X-T1 we used for this video was our old store demo camera had a dead shutter and a cracked LCD screen. So we thought we'd retire it in the wettest way possible.
I left it in the garden and then it rained. Battery compartment dry. view screen moist inside at the corners but not all over. Plug access not soaked but two drops of water NOT in the openings. I remembered the jar of little dessicant packages I saved for years, put them and the camera in a plastic bag. And now I will wait the listed 3 days with more confidence than a bag of rice. Fabulous pics of amazing PuffBall harvest are in there. Harvest is now in the freezer and soup pot, not as photogenic. Crossing fingers.
Not to mention SAFER! I would not put anything as valuable/delicate as a camera in rice to dry. Powdery bits of starchy rice can gum things up pretty bad.
A Question: I have my camera (Nikon D5500) splashed with a bit of salt water (It's not suerged but more like splashed because I was taking videos of waves and suddenly a huge wave crashed into my camera and I have it out of the water as soon as possible). Afterward it's all sand and wet so I put it in a box of rice for days, and I try turning it on. but the Touch screen didn't work at all, but I can take picture and turn it on, I notice that there's rust in some of the bolts, so any idea?
This happened to mine. Though it has been 2 years since I took out the brown and green rusted camera and of course it hadn't work at all. Maybe the last option we can only do is grill it XD.
My friend brought my camera for a day And I'm worried that he might dropped it or used my camera in dust, moisturizer How do i check my camera if it's ok or not It's working fine but I'm worried about any long term effects
didn’t think you’d actually go into maccas toilet to blow dry the camera 😂 so happy to have found an entertaining aussie camera store YT channel, it’s been a real gem to binge watch 😁
Sad news from the camera: only partial recovery. To work it put in batteries, take pic, take out batteries. Regular black click button on top dead. Use blue clicker on back. Bummer.
Promised report: The camera waited to turn on. Suddenly it dinged and opened up. Closed right away. Opened. Closed. I plugged it in to see if the held photos would transfer to computer. YES!!!! It actually did take a new pic. ))))) Then declined to turn off or on. Guru has it in hand. Waiting patiently fingers crossed. 2nd report to follow.
Trying to look after 2.5 year old and dropped it in a pond. Lens is terminal, not sure about camera body. Not sure of survival rate of Canon EOS DSLR vs EOS M series. Do mirrorless cameras survive better or worse under water damage ?
I was out vlogging pumpkin picking and my cannon sx730 got a bit wet slightly the mic is on the top the audio as been trash ever since what you think I can do ??
I never take my cameras** swimming - none of mine are an Olympus Tough, and I don't have an underwater housing for them! ** (I use a pair of Speedos, instead!)

Rice does literally nothing, except get rice inside your camera. Don't do it.
wish i found this comment sooner… i think i messed up now lol
Covering the camera with tissues before adding rice might help

What happened? I have the same situation rn!
Does it go in the rice with the battery container open or closed?
You’re slowly turning into Kai lol (not a bad thing)
Could try some silica gel cat litter, should work faster than the rice
Not to mention SAFER! I would not put anything as valuable/delicate as a camera in rice to dry. Powdery bits of starchy rice can gum things up pretty bad.
Silica gel is a miracle
This gives me so much anxiety. I'm trying to keep my X-T2 alive for as long as possible.

How about a soft-drink damaged camera :D?
Always make sure to slap your bag of rice before opening it to check quality

Do mirrorless cameras survive better or worse under water damage ?
Shouldn't make much difference, mirrorless just lacks a mirror and mirror tilting mechanism.
hell yeah we also used that kind of techniques in our smartphone
Hey I just brought a camera in it has white cortisone do you know how I can fix it
A7miii water damge solution?
What is work on the dash
Should've washed it several times in distilled water first. This really isn't even an attempt at repair, just drying it.
I was out vlogging pumpkin picking and my cannon sx730 got a bit wet slightly the mic is on the top the audio as been trash ever since what you think I can do ??
