    My Insta 360 fell off my kayak on a river yesterday, the USB port cover wasn't fully secured and the lanyard kept it from being lost. I've tried doing a quick dip in 91% isopropyl alcohol to wash out the remaining water and replace it with alcohol which should evaporate better. I now have it sitting on the exhaust from a dehumidifier whose dry, moving, slightly warm air should work well.
    In a day or two I'll update you on whether it worked. Fingers crossed.

    Hey I dont know if you can help me but my battery compartment door seems to be stuck, I am not sure if sand or something got under the bottom that u press to slide the battery door open but it is really difficult to open now. Everything was fine before the beach day. Any ideas on how to get it back to normal and sliding easy?

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  Месяц назад

      Is this on an Osmo Action? Do you mean one of the sliders that you release to let the battery pop out? Or the button on the charging port door? It sounds like you probably did get a piece of sand stuck in there. You could try blowing it out with compressed air, or possibly submerging the camera in soapy water (with all ports closed), which could possibly lubricate the sliders just a bit and allow them to move past the sand. One you get it to open, you should be able to see the issue and clean it out so it won't be a problem anymore.

    Please help me! I'm super anxious. Yesterday, while hiking, I dived into a waterfall with the Action 4. When I got home, I noticed water inside the battery compartment...
    Now, the front screen's touch isn't working anymore and there are some horizontal black stripes.
    The rest of the camera works fine, except for the front screen... Do you think it might get worse? If it stays like this, it's still usable, but I'm afraid it might deteriorate over time.

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  6 месяцев назад

      I think the force of the waterfall pushed some water into the camera. I have one with a screen that works intermittently and has horizontal stripes on the back screen. It has been like that for more than a year and it fine. I have 4 Osmo Actions and 3 Action 3s. All of the Osmo Actions have had water in them multiple times and two of the Action 3s have too. I follow these same steps each time and only the one camera has had issues. I think yours is probably damaged permanently but I don't think it will get any worse.

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  29 дней назад

      Yes, I have an Osmo 3, 4, and 5. The 3 is a big upgrade over the original. The 4 and 5 have low-light sensors and do show a decent improvement in low-light conditions. The battery life is also much better in the Osmo 3 compared to the original, and the 4/5 has even better battery life than the 3.
      Out of all of them, the 4 is my favorite. It was on sale for $209 for Black Friday and that was a deal.

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  Год назад

      I would leave the charging slot door open and run it on 4k60 until the battery runs out. Have another battery ready and run that one down to zero on 4k60 too. That should heat up the camera enough to evaporate any moisture inside the charging slot. Running a fan on it would be good too.

    So how did the water penetrate in the first place, did you not secure the MicroSD door, battery or lens cover?
    This is supposed to be waterproof down to 11m (34ft) and I have had no issue with mine.

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  2 года назад +1

      I've had water in several of mine. One was placed into an 11-foot hole for about 1.5 hours, but it was in fast current. My guess is that the added pressure of the current ultimately allowed the water to force its way in. I've also had water enter when I dropped the camera to about 25ft. It's less than the supposed rating of the camera, but it may have been the extended period of time that it sat down there that eventually let the water in (1.5-2hrs). The ports were tightly closed. Another one got water in it while dropping it through a hole in a frozen lake. My best guess with that one was that some water froze around the microSD port and it caused a small break in the seal when the ice expanded.

    • @FishingwithNat

      It could be. I would suggest opening it up, taking the battery and card out, and putting it in front of a fan for a day or two to see if there is still moisture inside where you can't see it. If it still doesn't turn on, it could be that something shorted out when it got wet or the moisture corroded something inside over the last few weeks.
