Harris film 118 takes place in Wyoming. Exact location is not known but some scenes show traffic on I 80. Anyone who can identify the locations can comment.
I did indeed have a nice Christmas. Several parties with friends and family. I ate and drank to much, now I need to slow down. Hope you had an enjoyable Christmas.

Ah, South Africa...Jambo. I've only had one contact with the continent. Back in 1973 I traveled with a group of American school teachers to Africa. We began in Ethiopia and even had a private audience with Haile Selassie in his palace. Then we flew to Zambia and visited schools there for several days. Then back north to Tanzania Dar Es Salaam. We ended our tour in Kenya, Mombasa and Nairobi. My university roommate at the university of Hawaii was a Kenyan. He met me at the end of our tour and hosted me at his home or two weeks so I got an extended experience with Kenyan society. I've always wanted to ride the Rovos Luxury train but I'll have to be satisfied with RUclips videos of it.

Definitely 1983!! WP diesels going elsewhere on the system. SP still used on UP trains. D&RGW (and Amtrak) detour until July 1983. Milwaukee Road unit from Kansas City (the same with the now Norfolk Southern. N&W and Southern Railway merged July 1?? 1982.) This video is valuable because of the transition to big railroads. I didnt know Union Pacific used Milwaukee Road and Norfolk & Western power. I know they used Missouri Pacific power and Chicago & Northwestern power in the mid to late 1970s way before they absorbed those railroads.
Cool, isn't it! The UP and NW have a long history together---by way of the Wabash and Jay Gould. At different times, Gould served as president of both railroads. And, the UP and Wabash had a connection in Omaha. In 1964, the N&W acquired the Wabash--thus, the opportunity for power sharing.
