What did you think of this movie? I think it's a great weekend watch! Great to throw on and just have a good time whilst watching it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
It was really enjoying it.. until the own-goal of an ending. Totally against his character, the sudden impulse to kill Jasper just didn’t work for me. It made me turn against him, and I lost all sympathy. I wanted to see him put away, along with her.
@@chrisquarrie agree, found her trouble from the beginning , so after killing her husband only proved it & should have been punished, jailed, he shouldn’t hv been a suspect, wish they explained that also was Hollywood, not just his murdering Jasper, gv it Loved it tho!
It's a little slow moving in the beginning, but necessary to develop the characters. But as soon as he meets his future wife, things become extremely interesting as the plot unfurls like a black and white film noir of the forties. Glen Powell is excellent as the conflicted Professor and the real star of the movie I think is the police offer he replaces. All the supporting characters are believable and have been excellently cast. After the movie, you may be thinking about whether or not he was set up himself or not. In any event, it's a fun movie and the acting is superb, and I Hope It is a Big hit on Netflix. Because it should be.
I know right? I think “comedy” indicates our favorite people won’t go to jail. . . that they’ll live together and forge a life. Funny how hard it is to do that! But it is possible. Just as long as one can figure themselves out. Oh and love the right person. You
There’s a massive plothole in this film that completely turned me off. How could they not see that it would be impossible for the police not to connect the fact that the boyfriend who was killed is the same guy who was in the diner!?!? What an awful detail to fuck up in the script. It completely destroys the story and it’s quite obvious. Someone please explain this to me.
They kind of did explain it. When they were telling him in the van about the meeting they basically said it was a last minute thing and they didn't have a lot of info about him and no pictures of him.
I was suprised and curious once found out that the director of Hit Man is Richard Linklater. The Before trilogy is in my personal Golden archive :) Enjoyed the fact that movie is inspired by a real person, a lighthearted hommage. Good supporting characters, attention to detail, laughed about the range of personas hitman created (black coat with cigar considering miami vice boat deal haha). It is a good watch and recognised the pace of Linklater movies. The simple message to just be yourself and people actually do change. Obvious, but a good reminder. In the beginning scenes the cat bowls had names on ID and Ego :)
I was expecting the woman to turn out the villian and her husband was actually a nice guy . That would have brought it several notches up for me......but it was a comedy, Acting was great
@lisaloves75 Yeah, true, because MM is not really good in movies because he can't act. Same with Kevin Costner. If you see them once, you've seen all there is. Powell is a two minute impersonator buy not a real actor.
This movie is a potential Oscar winning movie. Glen Powell deserved winning best actor in a leading role Oscar. This guy can act. The movie too, deserved best picture for Oscar. It’s like that Korean movie, Parasite, building up the story and in the middle it gets interesting. I’ll give 5 out of 5 star.
This movie will be lucky to be nominated for anything considering it’s a rom com although it’s not impossible. I’m really excited to see him in twisters now. Glenn has so much charisma.
I don't doubt that it's a really good movie, but movies like this, unfortunately, don't get nominated for Oscars. They're much too pretentious to even consider nominating crowd pleasing genre films, regardless of how great they are. They treat horror the same way
I find this sad. Has the world finally lost its mind? Leo decaprio.. Daniel day lewis? heath/letto jokers? Jokes if you qualify any of this in the same conversation 🤣 **it has a 98% rotten tom and 97% audience. HOWWWW in the huh? Who paid for those fake reviews bruh 😅
It's like a 7.8 out of 10 for me.. and for basically all the reasons you gave. Couldn't have said it better, and wildly accurate.. 😅 it's like there's been a drought, and this won me over. Good concept, based on a true story.. I thought the acting would be terrible, but it was great! Very little annoyed me, but the end could have been much better..
The ending needed explaining? Maybe if you are 5 years old. But great movie about how you can change. We have all seen it in others and sometimes in ourselves. The killing of others being ok , in some situations, is interesting, and somewhat of a slippery slope if everyone took that up!
You should check out the 1981 film Body Heat, which delves into themes similar to those in Hit Man. The lead actor in Body Heat, William Hurt, bears a striking resemblance to Glen Powell, the main character in Hit Man. If a remake is ever made-and I sincerely hope there will be, as the film is a masterpiece-I can easily envision Glen Powell stepping into that role. Body Heat is an American neo-noir erotic thriller directed by Lawrence Kasdan in his directorial debut. The film stars William Hurt and Kathleen Turner and features notable performances by Richard Crenna, Ted Danson, J. A. Preston, and Mickey Rourke. The plot was inspired by the classic film noir Double Indemnity (1944), which was based on the 1943 novel of the same name.
Its fun. Thats it and Glen Powell shines in this movie... He carried it most of the part... It does not have something serious to tell but fun... Some conversations were good ironic and nice... It was a decent film with really good acting tho
The movie wasn’t bad it was just kinda too slow for me. It just dragged a few parts of it that were boring to me. That’s just my opinion though I think others will like it a lot
The ending to this video reminds of the scene when Gray's ex visited him at uni. His ex was discussing on research about how people's personalities could change over time :)
I just saw this and it is a really good movie. It kind of reminded me of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cause the end of that one was a fantasy also rather than the reality of the Manson murders. The girl that played Madison is so beautiful I can believe that a guy would commit murder for her.
Didn't really know what to expect going in. Actually thought it was a mini series. Turned out to be a romantic comedy for guys. It was a good movie but with this cast it would have been a great mini series or at watch that was at least 4 seasons worthy. Produced by Jason Bateman so not surprised that I enjoyed it. Ironic side note : The song playing during the final scene and at least one other place was haunting me. It reminded me of "Cast Your Fate To The Wind", by Vince Guaraldi. It's been on my iTunes playlist for at least 12 yrs. and I hadn't listed to in that long and on a whim revisited "The Very Best of Vince Guaraldi 2 weeks before watching Hit Man. The Allen Toussaint version played in the movie was an interesting g rendition but it doesn't punch and swing like the Vince Guaraldi version.
Okay but did he kill his ex-wife. I thought it was implied when the other teacher mentions his ex taking off, and possibly forshadowed at the beginning when she said she thought hed never kill her bc that would mean hed have to feel passion.
Watched this. Find it cringe that Gary being able to change into a killer just so he can be with a killer because she's hot is being celebrated so much 😂
I thought this an excellent film. Glen Powell was superb - a real star. All his disguises were intriguing, and all the characters were great. Incredible that it was based on a real person. RIP Gary Johnson.
The end of this film ruins everything else about the film in order to shove communist philosophy, including literal expository approximation of Kant after needlessly murdering someone. The narration and theme could have come directly from a Soros book. And, it destroys the strong moral character of the real Gary Johnson person for no other reason other than to subvert morality. 30 years ago, in a strong and functional society, this might have been cute. Not anymore. What a disservice to the 90% of this film that was engaging. Disgraceful.
yea it really didnt seem to match his character to be ok with her killing her ex husband and then be down to have sex while the person he kills suffocates to death?? makes no sense
@@munchiekins His life would be destroyed and he'd go to prison if it came out and it was shown from the start that the cop was not a good person and had done something insanely questionable.
The girl's character was the worst she was annoying af, got away with a murder with her, helping her all lovey shovey wanna be jeffery Dahmer Worst ending ever 👎
How anyone can give this movie a high rating is beyond me. Characters are shallow, the philosophical discussions are dull, the story feels forced and soulless. The movie tries to blend comedy, action, crime, and romance but fails miserably at each one. All hype with no substance
Miserably bad, meaningless, empty movie from Glen's Powell's mind. This is a Glen Powell vanity movie to up-play and showcase himself thru meaningless sex scenes, his odd-ball impersonating abilities, and miserably poor scriptwriting abilities. This movie is for those who like the other raunchy, anti-humanity movies like Hangover etc. I will not watch another Glen Powell movie again.
It's a noir lite. Very predictable. Low production values, like a late-night, b&w movie from the 1940s. Wish the main male character would quit smirking, though. Gave it a thumbs up, but it really deserves a meh.
What a couple of despicable, unredemptive main characters played as though they are a loving couple. Why the hell should anyone root for them or be happy that two murderers have children? I didn’t know what this movie wanted to be - taken seriously or is it a dark comedy? Do not recommend.
