It was really enjoying it.. until the own-goal of an ending. Totally against his character, the sudden impulse to kill Jasper just didn’t work for me. It made me turn against him, and I lost all sympathy. I wanted to see him put away, along with her.

It's a little slow moving in the beginning, but necessary to develop the characters. But as soon as he meets his future wife, things become extremely interesting as the plot unfurls like a black and white film noir of the forties. Glen Powell is excellent as the conflicted Professor and the real star of the movie I think is the police offer he replaces. All the supporting characters are believable and have been excellently cast.
After the movie, you may be thinking about whether or not he was set up himself or not. In any event, it's a fun movie and the acting is superb, and I Hope It is a Big hit on Netflix. Because it should be.

There’s a massive plothole in this film that completely turned me off. How could they not see that it would be impossible for the police not to connect the fact that the boyfriend who was killed is the same guy who was in the diner!?!? What an awful detail to fuck up in the script. It completely destroys the story and it’s quite obvious. Someone please explain this to me.

I was suprised and curious once found out that the director of Hit Man is Richard Linklater. The Before trilogy is in my personal Golden archive :) Enjoyed the fact that movie is inspired by a real person, a lighthearted hommage. Good supporting characters, attention to detail, laughed about the range of personas hitman created (black coat with cigar considering miami vice boat deal haha). It is a good watch and recognised the pace of Linklater movies. The simple message to just be yourself and people actually do change. Obvious, but a good reminder. In the beginning scenes the cat bowls had names on ID and Ego :)

You should check out the 1981 film Body Heat, which delves into themes similar to those in Hit Man. The lead actor in Body Heat, William Hurt, bears a striking resemblance to Glen Powell, the main character in Hit Man. If a remake is ever made-and I sincerely hope there will be, as the film is a masterpiece-I can easily envision Glen Powell stepping into that role.
Body Heat is an American neo-noir erotic thriller directed by Lawrence Kasdan in his directorial debut. The film stars William Hurt and Kathleen Turner and features notable performances by Richard Crenna, Ted Danson, J. A. Preston, and Mickey Rourke. The plot was inspired by the classic film noir Double Indemnity (1944), which was based on the 1943 novel of the same name.

Didn't really know what to expect going in. Actually thought it was a mini series. Turned out to be a romantic comedy for guys. It was a good movie but with this cast it would have been a great mini series or at watch that was at least 4 seasons worthy. Produced by Jason Bateman so not surprised that I enjoyed it.
    Ironic side note :
The song playing during the final scene and at least one other place was haunting me. It reminded me of "Cast Your Fate To The Wind", by Vince Guaraldi. It's been on my iTunes playlist for at least 12 yrs. and I hadn't listed to in that long and on a whim revisited "The Very Best of Vince Guaraldi 2 weeks before watching Hit Man. The Allen Toussaint version played in the movie was an interesting g rendition but it doesn't punch and swing like the Vince Guaraldi version.

The end of this film ruins everything else about the film in order to shove communist philosophy, including literal expository approximation of Kant after needlessly murdering someone. The narration and theme could have come directly from a Soros book. And, it destroys the strong moral character of the real Gary Johnson person for no other reason other than to subvert morality. 30 years ago, in a strong and functional society, this might have been cute. Not anymore. What a disservice to the 90% of this film that was engaging. Disgraceful.
